DocuTAP EMR & PM Software


 

DocuTAP is a Web-based electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management system tailored towards the needs of urgent care specialty clinics—including both occupational health and pediatrics—of any size. Founded in 2000, this customizable EMR solution is both ONC-ATCB and Meaningful Use certified.

Modules include e-prescribing, lab integration and an online patient portal where patients can access their medical records and complete forms before coming to the clinic. Patients are also able to pay their bills online.

Further, DocuTAP’s enterprise dashboard provides users with real-time data on patient wait times, visit statistics and total payments. This module is supplemented by a reports library with additional billing and practice management information.

Designed for compatibility with tablet devices, practitioners can access DocuTAP from desktops, laptops or tablets. This allows physicians to move between patient rooms without needing to log in or out of individual computers.

I have used several different EMR programs and so far like this one the best

Pros

It is user friendly and can be customized to your business or practice. Customer Support is always available to help you with any promblems.

Cons

Update glitches have been the biggest problem we have but customer service is always on top of it. They usually respond promptly to any problems.

Docutap Training and implementation

I think this company doesn't disclose everything that is needed for functionality when you sign up

Pros

The ease of the actual system. Thats it, nothing else really was great about this system as the implementation has made it daunting.

Cons

The implementation process is tedious, time consuming with little to no help from the docutap company. They are not flexible on times and working with doctors who have out of normal hours.

This program is so easy to use! Our practice has used Athena and DocuTAP together and it works great! The two systems work well together.

Cons

It can freeze up sometimes but all software lags at times. The e-prescribe feature does not always work the best.

Overall a great product in the capacity we use it for. Our primary use is for the clinical side of patient care.

Pros

Easy to use program. I currently use DocuTAP in conjunction with ATHENA and they communicate very well with each other.

Cons

There are no real cons. The only deficiency I can attest to is sometimes it can lag, but what computer doesn't at times.

Worked in Urgent care and doctor had written a previous EMR system. DocuTap was user-friendly and easy to learn. The doctors had an easy time charting and billing was not bad at all. Reports are generated easily and we can see other centers we may be in charge of because other managers are out.

Pros

Easy to use and all the training was online. A team came out on implementation day and stayed for a couple of weeks until we were comfortable. Great staff and easy to contact with any other issues.

Cons

The interface between Docutap and the pharmacies would not always "talk". We had to put in several tickets to get prescribing complete and even after the tickets were resolved we would have to fax over prescriptions. It was probably on the pharmacy people's side.

In our urgent care center in Seattle we are constantly looking for innovative ways to outperform our competitors and of course ourselves. One way we have done that is by utilizing our relationship with DocuTap to integrate new ideas into our practice. Perfect example of that is how DocuTap was able to work with our new Net Promoter Score (NPS) vendor - Calibrater Health - so that Calibrater Health could get its information straight from DocuTap. It's great to have a partner that is willing to integrate itself with other vendors so we can measure things such as NPS to track our patient satisfaction.

If you are looking for a good simple program this is it. It is very basic compared to most and for some people they may like it. We were using this program as our clinical portion while using ATHENA for our front end operations. This does have its cons as the front end staff would have two programs up if they need to get chart notes or anything clinical related.

Pros

It is very easy to use and it is a simple program.

Cons

There are other products better out there but it is all about what fits your needs best.

Advice to Others

Research as many products as possible and try the demos and ask as many questions as possible. What might work for me might not be best for you.

Docutap review

I have been using Docutap for several years where I work. It is one of the best EMR that I have used and very user friendly. I am in the Medical Records Department, so not only am I scanning records but retrieving records daily. Mass scanning into Scan Link is a plus. Even when I switch from the PM side( office) to the EMR side(clinic) to schedule referrals, the transition is easy.

Pros

I am able to find charts, documents, etc with ease, That it is user friendly and Docutap has a great support system if you run into trouble.

Cons

Scan link will lock up if you have multiple users and large files scanned into it.

Advice to Others

Watch the online training sessions. I think you will be pleased with how versatile this system is and how you can customize it to fit your needs and billing. Docutap is a great product!

DocuTap has been easy to use and implement. I can't say enough good things about the customer support and DocuTap team. They are incredibly helpful. The EMR is easy to use, but I have seen different EMR's that are more user friendly. Like any EMR it takes awhile to navigate and figure out. The price of DocuTap is low for what is all included. They have PM and EMR and can take over a lot of billing/contracting.

Pros

The customer service and it is very easy to verify insurance and check a patient in.

Cons

It can be confusing how to chart certain circumstances. There is an online community that helps but does not necessarily have the exact answer.

Pros

Simplicity and accuracy

Cons

Customer service does not seem very knowledgeable about their product and usually has to call me back with answers to my questions. Sometimes I never receive a return phone call with answers to my questions.

I feel it is very easy to navigate . Very helpful at first I thought it would be difficult but not at all within my first few days of training with this product I was able to catch on immediately . Where my colleagues were very impressed . With this software I feel its very helpful in this field because it allows you to save time from using too much paperwork. It allows for so much to get done within a short amount of time . Helps with flow of office .

Easy clicking to chart on all different patients. Very easy

Page layout and needing to scroll to opposite sides of pages to see the whole note. Reading the finished chart if only using clicks is extremely difficult and does not read like English language should read.

Recommendations

The people! When you call Support, they are not only knowledgeable, they are friendly and make you feel like you've them forever. If they do not know the answer, THEY WILL ASK A COWORKER making it obvious they are a TEAM. That is a positive, motivational experience.

P.S. - support is available 24/7!

It is not as user friendly as it could be. I would love to links to the Knowledge Base as it relates to certain screens. For example, if you are in the Insurance Maintenance screen and need instructions on setting up a new ins, possible have a blue checkmark that offered a link directly to the Knowledge Base. It save a lot of time for both the user and your support staff.

I used this software for about 6 years at an urgent care setting. It was great for ease of entering in patient date and collecting payments.

Cons

Was difficult when program would shut down or had technological issues, we had to use paper charts and then input at a later time.

Lots of headaches. Billing side was especially problematic.

Pros

Urgent Care specific. It was nice to not have to set up the system to not include things not applicable to urgent care.

Cons

Seems intuitive at first, but there are so many tips and tricks that you have to remember. We had a lot of trouble with new and PRN staff disliking the product. Also, we used their RCM and it was a NIGHTMARE! There are a lot of things we WISH it could do (that many other EMRs can do) that it just can't.
