Pros

Cost and ease of use for small number of donor files. Provides good reporting for most types of fundraising needs

Cons

Doesn't provide a step up in reporting- would love direct mail response reports and a way, like Bloomerang has, to encourage more connection with donors with capacity

Value for Money

Our organization is small (<5 people, ~250 donors), and LGL is a great step up from using spreadsheets and a non-integrated online payment processor. As a first CRM, it's excellent, and I really appreciate the customer service. I docked a star for the few problems with the Forms and the frustrating payment processors (ProPay) that you have to use if you want to accept direct deposit (ACH) donations.

Pros

Value for money- does what we need it to at a cost we can absolutely afford
Ironically, lack of features. We're not paying for tools or miscellaneous functions we don't need
Integrated payment forms
Very responsive customer service

Cons

Inability to have a donor enter their own credit card info to update failed recurring payments
Somewhat confusing relationships between tasks, activities, and events

Highly-recommend for smaller organizations that are looking to grow their donor and volunteer database and develop an efficient tracking system.

Pros

The opportunity to distinguish between Donors and Volunteers and to track their giving history has been the most useful for us!

Cons

I am disappointed that LGL does not sync with Emma E-mail Marketing system yet. They are local to our organization and we would love to see them implemented into LGL.

The rates across all constituent records counts are phenomenal. LGL costs significantly less than any other database I've come across, and they offer essentially everything the big names do!

Pros

LGL manages multiple constituent engagement levels, measuring individual interests, support, and relationships with other constituents.

Cons

Online donation processing requires a fee. I know this is common, but I've seen other companies offer it for free.

It’s a great system for small organizations. And certainly not as complex and difficult to use as Salesforce

Pros

It’s intuitive but best of all their customer service is some of the best I’ve seen. Their library has a number of different tutorials but if you can’t find what you want a quick submission of a question is answered within an hour at the most. Each time I’ve asked a question their answers are very clear and often linked to a very page that I need to answer the issue.

Cons

Not sure if I see any specific issues I could mention. I’ve been using it for seven months and like any other new system it takes some time to learn.

Great product when you are starting out. However, once you get to 500-1,000 accounts or begin having larger events, you may need to upgrade.

Pros

Great for donor development tracking, assigning tasks, and running reports, integrates with Constant Contact. Perfect for new nonprofits or organizations with a small list.

Cons

Does not integrate many platforms. It does not offer seamless social fundraising, event registration, volunteer management capabilities. It does not provide a credit card processing gateway. We had four different platforms to accomplish everything we needed.

I recommend this product to anyone looking for a nonprofit donor database software that doesn't break the bank.

Pros

Affordable, easy to use, intuitive. Adding team members was easy and I like that it is cloud-based--we can access from anywhere.

Cons

Reports are hard to generate and we had to designate one staff member to become the expert in generating reports so that we could get high-quality reports on a consistent basis. This software also feels a little outdated.

We moved from Excel to this and used the coupon through TechSoup and are very happy

Pros

Easy to get your data into and up and running because it's easy to learn. That it comes with the opportunity to use Mail Chimp and Stripe and have the data automatically roll into LGL was key

Cons

I wish it had better direct mail specific reporting (% of return, % return by category of donor etc)

Overall, I recommend this product, especially for a small non-profit.

Pros

I am a new user of LGL. I'm finding it pretty easy to learn, especially with the helpful videos. Right now I am concentrating on building a good database for our non-profit, which LGL is perfect for. It can obviously do a lot more than I am using now, but the gift tracking and email features are already paying off.

Cons

I would like to figure out a way to track a little more data that isn't in there. For instance, info about volunteers, such as their interests and experience. Also, things specific to our dog rescue's needs. It's not obvious to me yet if that's possible.

This system is considerably like an extension of my own brain in terms of managing contacts and their contributions. It’s improved my systems immediately and rarely fights me back.

Pros

Dashboards & built-in metrics
Easy queries & exports
Forms integration & communications tracking
Good segmentation tools
Customer support & help files

Cons

Hardwired coding that categorizes even earned income as “gift”. There’s an acceptable workaround, but still, that seems a silly limitation for such a sophisticated product. Pledges are also lumped with gifts, even before they are fulfilled. I can see the logic of this but would like the option to decouple them.

We are a small urban senior service provider with a single location and relatively small donor base so the larger, costlier solutions just didn't seem to be warranted. LGL offered everything we needed at a very fair price, with the assurance that the product would be supported over time. Super easy to start and upload our existing data - we were up and running with a single staffperson's light effort over a couple of days. Useful, nimble reporting functions, easily customized communication documents, and gentle reminders to complete tasks that were helpful for a newbie. A really great solution for us!

Pros

Generous free trial period, helpful initial startup pointers, intuitive and easy to set up and use, fast and robust reporting, secure cloud hosting, great value

Cons

We haven't yet been able to work through an ideal donor categorization system yet but I feel sure that it's doable

If you have a non profit and need a program to organize data, I wouldn't look else ware. Little Green Light does it all, and makes it easy. I didn't pick it, I am just one employee, but I am happy that my non profit company uses it.

Pros

Navigating the program feels very organic. My company has large amounts of information and date stored on LGL, yet I can find what I need with one or two clicks. Even when I haven't been taught how to access certain information, I have no problem doing so as the navigation is easy- Its how you'd expect/hope it to be. Editing information on donors, agencies etc. is very easy as well. I won't accidently delete or change information, yet can easily and simply update what I need to.

Little Green Light is a great platform for a growing non-profit.

Pros

Little Green Light (LGL) makes it SO easy to search, edit, and update info on members. I'm able to track and engage with members much easier than I use. Plus importing and exporting content through excel is super easy. The platform is jam-packed with features...everything you could ever need for membership, donor, and volunteer management.

Cons

There's almost too many features! I've gotten use to overlooking things that don't apply to my organization's needs but being able to turn certain things off would be helpful.

Customer service is top notch. I've gotten answers within 5 minutes and didn't need any more help. LGL is very intuitive and easy to learn. My organization migrated from Frontstreams' Giftworks to LGL and we liked LGL even more than Giftworks newest platform...plus it's half the price!

Pros

- Easy to use
- Great value for everything you get
- Great customer service
- Powerful reporting
- Has a "bulk edit" feature that makes changes so easy and fast
- Attractive design

Cons

I don't have any cons so far, I've been using Little Green Light for 2 months now and I love everything about it so far.

I LOVE Little Green Light and would highly recommend it to any non-profit organization.
I have already referred another organization who is using it

Pros

The ability to customize and add fields; tech support can add more complex fields that you need
Multiple users can access it
Easy to generate customized acknowledgements and mailings
Great to have all our data in our place
Can attach documents and keep track of contact with constituents
Tech support is amazing! I've gotten answers on a Sunday morning 10 minutes after I asked the question
I research other options and all others were too complicated, cost a lot more, and didn't offer a 30-day free trial
First year subscription through Techsoup makes it even more affordable for small organizations

Cons

I would like more intuitive handling of ticket sales for concerts, but that is all.
I can't think of anything else.

I've brought LGL to two independent schools in my capacity as an Advancement Director and it's made a world of difference in both places. Customer service is fantastic -- I've received quick feedback even on holidays. The team has also added new options at our request when needed (e.g. adding an employment title field for spouses). Can't say enough good things about it.

Pros

Easy to use and to quickly find the data you need, responsive customer service, always improving as customer needs change and grow.

Cons

There are no "cons" that I can think of. My experience at two schools with LGL has always been positive, which isn't something I can say about other donor databases I used.

When looking at different donor management options price plays a big part for a small non-profit. LGL's price range for the capabilities to track constituents, events, appeals, and campaigns is perfect. It allows us to run reports for every criteria under the sun, generate mailing lists, and import our own acknowledgement templates. Their Flex Importer and ability to reverse your most recent import are absolute sanity savers. The one month trial gave us adequate time to familiarize ourselves with LGL, test the importing with small batches of data and allow us to reverse those imports. Realizing there's a mistake in the import data and knowing that we can either undo the whole import or use the Bulk Edit tool to make the necessary modifications really keeps the stress levels at a minimum. I can't express how happy our organization is with LGL.

Pros

With standard computer experience LGL is easy to learn and its capabilities are perfect for our organization.

Cons

The only thing that could be better is that LGL doesn't recognize couples when they have different last names during the import process. But really you can't expect a program to be perfect. Though it was time-consuming to do so, we simply made certain those constituents were accurately formatted in our CSV before doing the final import.

Just recently transitioned to Little Green Light (LGL) from Donor Tools (DT) and it's been a great investment thus far. Not only does this software help manage donor information, but it allows you to do more as it's integrated with MailChimp and Constant Contact. As a non-profit, affordability and ease of use for the staff are important requirements that LGL offers.

Cons

Since we're in the transitional phase, currently being trained, and importing data from one software to another, we have yet to experience any issues with LGL. Up to now, it's been a great software that exceeded our expectations.

Very helpful online donor management software.

Pros

Originally created for schools, Little Green Light works for all kinds of nonprofits. It syncs up beautifully with PayPal to accept donations. It is super easy to create templates for thank you letters and thank donors quickly. I have worked with several fundraising software platforms, this is the most straight forward. It make using a database fun. Allows you to customize fields, and it is so easy to navigate. Price is far better than other fundraising databases.

Cons

I learned more of what we needed by using this software. I thought we could use a simple system like this one, but I believe it is too basic for our needs.

Pros

I love that this software includes almost everything you need for running a nonprofit donor database. The price is about 1/3-1/4 of what other companies offer. The tutorials are easy to follow and it is simple to set up.

Cons

I don't like that it will not integrate automatically with other cloud-based systems that we are using. The process of moving over donors from one database to this one seemed easy in the beginning, but ended up being very tedious.

We took twenty years worth of excel spreadsheets with the names of donors, prospects, event invitees and attendees and consolidated them all into LGL. At long last we have a robust and dynamic system that has helped us learn more about our donorbase and their giving trends. This has been invaluable for our current fundraising efforts and future projections. Not to mention the time we have saved managing our donors and development efforts.

Pros

For a small non-profit, affordability and ease of use are critical requirements and LGL offers both + more features than we could have ever hoped for. I knew from the first moment, after using the Flex Importer to upload a list of donors from a cumbersome old Excell SS, that LGL would forever change the way we organize, track and communicate with our donor base. The ability to easily enter constituents then segment and organize them with mailing lists, categories & tags has helped us achieve a maximum return on our appeals and events. LGL's integration with MailChimp has helped us quickly and inexpensively reach out and stay in touch with our donors. Our Letter and Email templates ensure that we send the right message to the right people at the right time. The Dashboard is a delight, both aesthetically and functionally - easy on the eye with quick access to everything I want to see and do. I am pleased with the reports and the ability to edit or build new ones as needed for specific purposes and audiences. My last top "pro" is LGL's Customer Service - best on the Web! Admittedly there are some features of LGL that I have yet to explore but as all non profits know , there is never enough time. That is why LGL is so perfect. Whatever type of non profit you are, be it large or small, however you might be staffed, be it by a low tech volunteer or a FT development director, LGL offers features and functionality at all levels that will help you grow and thrive

Cons

LGL offers so much more than any comparable program that I am just grateful to have you around! Cannot think of anything that I dislike about a company that is offering such a fantastic service to the non profit community.

My issues with LGL are incredibly small (e.g. would like the ability to send users multiple reminders for a task, and more flexibility in creating LGL Forms). Overall it's a great service.

Pros

LGL is extremely user-friendly and intuitive. Also, the support is really great if you need help they respond pretty fast. Also, they also have consultants that you can work with. I have been using for 9 months and still finding many new features I am excited to use for our organization!

Pros

So many great features that all integrate together. All forms we use are through LGL software, including RSVP to events. And everything goes directly into the database.

Cons

I really can't think of something. I didn't like that PayPal didn't work within the forms, but now they do. I'd you tell them of a problem, they try to fix it! But if I need to say something, I don't like that when you import names with addresses and merge them with existing constituents, the addresses become duplicates, even if they're the same.

Pros

I have used databases for 15 years. I was considered an advanced user of Raiser's Edge. It's the top of the line where databases are concerned. However, unless you really know what you are doing, it can quickly give you inaccurate results. LGL is not only very easy to use, it is SO economical. I kept waiting for the catch. However, I have found that there isn't one. I'm amazed by the functionality and price. What's more, right from the start the customer service has been top notch. I had a time sensitive issue that I HAD to iron out quickly. LGL (Customer Service) hung in there with me until we got it worked out. Super knowledgeable and helpful.

I was paying a lot more for a lot less. If you are a non-profit, I don't see how you could go wrong with Little Green Light.

Offers a lot of possible data reports and record maintenance, as well as appeal letters and donation acknowledgments.

Cons

Since I am new to the position using this tool, I have not used it enough to answer this question. I am still learning the features and how to use them.

Ability to communicate with our members efficiently and consistently. Ability to thank our members for donating, ability to be notified upon receipt of paypal donations, ability to create custom forms, allowing us to create custom groups of constituents and custom ability to target messages to them. Ability to send automatic renewal emails to groups of people whose membership is expiring this month and/or next month. Ability to create customized letter and email templates for various types of communication. Ability to schedule tasks and activities with automatic reminders for tasks. I could go on and on! It is a very capable product, very efficient and error-free system.

Pros

1) Very Thorough 2) Automatic Reminders to acknowledge gifts 3) Love the LGL Forms Integration 4) Email templates 5) Love the Dashboard and especially the Membership Summary 6) Gift Summary 7) Ability to produce the year-end tax receipts 8) Flex Importer is awesome 9) Paypal Integration

Cons

Lack of direct QuickBooks integration forces either double entry or introduction of a third party tool, which adds complications, cost and possible errors.

Keeping data on my donors has been the most important benefit - understanding who they are, keeping information on conversations and communications and knowing all this can easily be passed on to other people in the organization.

Pros

It is easy to use and does not require serious technological understanding. Most processes require only a few steps - sometimes less - and they are easy to figure out and carry through. The system is self-explanatory and does not require hours of training.

Cons

Working between programs (like mailchimp) is not as intuitive as I would like it to be. But I have not tried that hard to work through the two systems so it may be easier than it looks.
