Avaza is a business management solution which includes features for project management, resource scheduling, online timesheets, expense management, online invoicing, recurring invoicing, quotes and invoices and more. Avaza also integrates with third-party platforms to manage workflows. Avaza is an integrated cloud solution for professional services companies and is supported on tablets and mobile devices.

Users can run their entire client-focused business in Avaza, allowing them to run projects with support for resource management, project and task tracking, time and expense management, quoting, invoices and online payments. The platform offers online project collaboration with clients and allows users to drag and drop tasks and files as needed. Tasks can be viewed in list view, Kanban boards or on Gantt charts.

Avaza offers time and expense tracking, as well as online payments directly from invoices. Users can generate reports on metrics such as estimates by status, financial transactions, expenses by customer and more, in order to provide business insight.

Delivering Client Projects Is Easy With Avaza

Avaza is not overly complex, so it cannot accommodate really heavy projects with large teams or complexities. It does, though, provide amazing results for teams with a more direct approach to project delivery. I was able to implement its use in a software development firm that specialized in cloud applications. Specializing in Microsoft's online SharePoint environments, Avaza was the tool of choice to manage projects dealing with migrations and customization of such sites. It did include large projects and small ones, and managed time tracking for billing, as these were on an hourly basis. The features were just right. But because there was no custom coding and developing for which unit testing or QA department involvement, Avaza worked extremely well for them.

Pros

Avaza has all the core functionality that lets any business successfully manage and deliver client projects. It is not just for development projects. It can be used in a wide array of industries because of this basic general core of features.

For starters, Avaza manages contacts and distinguishes them between clients (external contacts) and team members. It uses this to connect projects to its clients and the resources that will be working on these projects. The roles for the contacts are manage in the contacts section as well, allowing the admin to connect just the right resources and the features they need.

Adding projects is fairly simple, as well. Create a new project and allocate the client to it. That is it. Then add the necessary tasks for the project, allocating team members from the contact list. You can even group into sections that can represent milestones, features, epics, or any description that fits your project or organizational business needs. Project views can also be customized. You can view projects in a Kanban styled board, as a Gantt chart or even as a list.

Team members track time against the tasks until completion and the process is quite simple and straightforward. Avaza also provides team scheduling and provides forecasting capabilities across one or more projects. You can also manage timesheets, expenses and recurring expenses for all the projects in Avaza.

Avaza offers the capabilities of providing your clients with quotes or estimates for projects, as well as managing invoicing, recurring invoices, credit notes and payments. And you can track all the work via an extensive library of reports.

Cons

Avaza is not a feature rich product for large enterprises or large projects with large teams, as these must track defects, reworks, testing and a host of other tasks that often have dependencies upon others. This is something Avaza does not manage and trying to track this level of effort is not something that can be done. So, this is definitely for smaller organizations or teams with basic projects.

We tried many apps before Avaza and couldn't find one that had the functionality and ease of use that we wanted. Fortunately, we found Avaza and took to it very quickly. We were also very pleased with the integration with other apps we use making our overall processes more automated and seamless.

An area I didn't think we would use much was Reports, but we've found it to be very helpful at getting snapshots of each project and all projects as a whole.

Pros

We now have an easy to use central location for Project Management and Time Tracking with workflow. Much better than separate systems like we had before. The ability to scale based on our project team size and all the underlying workflow functionality is very good.

Overall great product. We beta tested about three to four software programs before settling on Avaza.

Pros

The ability to facilitate multiple business processes in one software is both efficient but cost effective, particularly for a startup. We track all of our projects, project time, and invoices inside of Avaza.

Cons

The proposal portion of the software is a bit limited. It functions well, but as a creative agency we need the ability to create custom proposals, so we use another software to facility this part of our business.

Avaza is easy to understand deploy and use. A few features are not fully developed (at least for my needs) but there are workarounds. Support is great and there is a roadmap which will deliver many of the features I need.

As a business, our daily, weekly and monthly goals as individuals in the company and as a team as a whole are made crystal clear to us. This allows us to work more effectively and efficiently and feel more prepared for work every day.

Pros

As a new employee in a fast paced company in an even faster paced industry, I was was worried I would be left behind quickly and would battle with keeping my tasks managed. I literally don't have to worry at all because of Avaza. Every morning I see my tasks set out for the day and can easily track my time spent on these projects. Keeping track of my time is so important in my company and old-school time keeping would never do the trick.

Cons

I don't like how tasks are not kept within projects and listed independently.

I'm the finance director, so while the project management portion is seemingly great, I'm not in love with the invoicing feature.

Pros

For a project management system the tool is great. It integrates, has great ux, and tracks the time as well as anything out there.

Cons

I'm not in love with the invoicing features. I would like to be able to see on one screen what hours have been invoices, and what hours are unbilled.

Have you taken a look at our Project Dashboard report? It shows you, in one glance, across all projects, how much has been invoiced and how much is left to be invoiced.

The Project Earnings and Remaining value report provides the same function, for hourly projects.

We use this for contact management, contractor management, project management, and are looking at it for time and expense tracking as well. We may leverage the invoicing capabilities in the future.

Pros

Easy to install on tablets and phones; web version is full functioned. The Gantt charts by resource are so helpful for scheduling resources! It is a great all around app that is very easy to use.

Cons

Project dependencies between tasks is not as robust as other solutions. Mobile app on the Apple App store has not been updated in a couple of years (that said, it works and supports the common functionality). Gantt view for resource management not available on mobile apps.

Avaza is great because it centralizes almost all the functions you need on one platform. I used it working as a freelancer for a client and it was useful because I was able to share files, track my hours, and collaborate/message (not instant message though) with the other freelancers.

Cons

While it has all the features you need, they didn't do a great job of putting it all together. It has a big learning curve and a lot of the feature interfaces/processes are extremely unintuitive. Also, the lack of instant messaging is a bit of con as well.

We have several staff using Avaza to work on projects for multiple clients. All of our clients require in-house approval of timesheets before they will approve invoices. Avaza makes this process easy.

Pros

Avaza was the only SaaS timesheeting software we found which made client approval of timesheets and obvious and easy to use feature. From initial sign-up to a working config using client approval took minutes.

Cons

No obvious built-in system to print or email PDFs of timesheets. Using the browser's built-in print function results in a messy PDF.

Cons

The new layout is very corporate. I don't particularly need to see invoices and sales/payments on my home page/dashboard, however everyone is different. Something more creative and visual would promote me personally into using this software.

A greater overview of where we are in the project.
And its easy to add new task on the fly i.e. at a meeting since you can just push return and a the task gets saved, new task is ready to filled

Its simple and fast, and helps a lot in the daily workflow.
Each task has a lot of posibillities and even commenst can have attachments. So while working on an assignment, others can comment.

Since comments on tasks works great, and its part of the flow, its unfortunate, that it doesn't auto update the page, so new comments will pop in. You have to refresh the entire page to see IF a new comments has arrived

Real time tracking of project tasks and entry of sub-tasks for various activities allows for easy task tracking and updating. Layout of screens and project reporting features are very helpful.

Cons

I am colorblind so some of the icons for project tracking are difficult for me to differentiate between. Icons be done in solid circle graphic vs. linear circle icons...addition of some type of feature for visual impairments such as mine would be great.
