Good Supporting software for IoT Project

Overall, I have good experience with this IoT software. I did my project greatly and received rewards from my lecture. in spite of having some errors that I couldn't fix unless the developer does. But generally I have very nice and great experience with this software. I still use it until now to build other IoT Projects

PROS

Blynk is a friendly-user software for IoT project. I did my final project related to IoT monitoring system and I used Blynk to help it work. it is easy to use and is not complicated. All widgets provided was very clear and I have all I need there. Thanks to the developer for making such a great and easy software for IoT

CONS

I had one problem when I did my project. it was when I used bluetooth HC05 as a wireless connector between My arduino and blynk. at that time HC05 could not be used because blynk is under development for this widgets only. I couldn't switch to Wifi because I don't have it at home. so I used bluetooth module. Hopefully now the developer will make some developments on every widget available in Blynk.

Great product! But there plenty of room for improvement

It was so much fun!

PROS

1) Blynk allows to Integrate some pretty impressive features in the project at a record time, mainly because the use of it's available widgets will dramatically reduce the amount of code to be written 2) for the same reasons mentioned above, Blynk can be a powerful tool to introduce absolute arduino beginners to a lot of principles and allows them to use these functionalities without the need to learn everything before 3) the amount of customization possibilities offered by blynk is very superior to any other available app

CONS

I think they can offer more widgets for completely direct communication between the device and the smartphone (Mainly I'm talking about Bluetooth). Also i really wish that they consider offering a widget for reading from the phone's serial USB terminal so we can have the possibility to read data from the device by connecting it to the smartphone by OTG cable (at least in the Android version of the app)

Nice app for IoT

Instead of buying expensive devices, this app allows you to build IoT devices using simple electronical parts. That's great.

PROS

It has a big community where you can share you coding issues and receive answers. Also, it's very flexible...you can use a lot of Arduino boards and play with different projects.

CONS

Monthly subscriptions. Initially, you could buy some points and with those points get permanent elements (buttons, graphs). Now, you need to have this subscription.

The best IoT application in the market, smooth, fast, responsive and easy

I loved using Blynk due to it's quick and fast setup. I didn't need to go through manuals/ tutorials to work on it.

PROS

The only Application where I did In-App Purchases ever, it's so easy to set up on multiple devices. Get the Authentication code, upload it on your device, drag - and - drop and you're done. The best part is for safety reasons you can also set up a local-host, no need to run on the cloud when you can run on the machine. At one point I had my whole house covered with home-automation devices on ESP8266, with shared Blynk screens with family.

CONS

No, I don't have anything which I felt missing in the software.

IoT with Blynk

Developing for IoT devices / applications is made easy with Blynk, thanks to its libraries, widgets, server, and the app itself.

PROS

My first contact with Blynk was when I learned to program Arduino devices. It allows you to control hardware chips with ease. You can also gather and show data obtained from sensors for further analysis. I liked from Blynk that you can use the widgets they provide or program at your own needs. Also the libraries serve for many purposes.

CONS

Depending on your computer and operating system, it may be difficult to setup Blynk so that it can correctly connect with your IoT device. But this is a one-time setup, so once you achieve it there's no need to repeat the process.

Amazing software for projects of every size

My experience with Blynk has been wonderful. I backed them it when it was a Kickstarter campaign and the money spent has been definitely worth it.

PROS

Blynk is extremely easy to set up for a simple project. If you want to connect a microcontroller to your smartphone, you just need to add a couple of lines of code. Besides, the number of widgets that Blynk has is impressive. There is a widget for every need.

CONS

I backed Blynk when it was a Kickstarter campaign. Whenever I don't use the application for a couple of months, my account is deleted. This has happened three times. However, the customer service brings my account back immediately when I email them.

Blynk

I have been using the application for more than five years and I am really happy with the functionality as well as the support from the online community.

PROS

This is the most versatile software tool for Internet of Things projects. It is compatible with most popular microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi, etc.). It is easy to create triggers and link them to the microcontroller.

CONS

The only improvement that can be done is the ability to adjust the properties of the widgets (size, color, font, etc.).

Blynk Rocks

I was looking for a quick and simple way to create APPs and tie them into my IoT devices for around the home. There are lots of solutions that can do the basics - push a button and unlock a door - or send me the temperature. However none of them made a classy looking and fairly complex interface possible without a tremendous amount of time, effort and coding. Blynk is simple - get an account - create a project (gives you the authorization code) and add Widgets (big list which I am still playing with trying them all) - then add the library to your IDE (I like Visual Studios with vMicro). Add the basic connectivity activities (lots of examples) - and add the various Widget interfaces to your program. And you are done. AND IT WORKS. I recently added my own Local Server on a Raspberry Pi3B - took a bit of playing to get the SSL stuff ironed out - but it is running like a champ. I am slowly migrating my personal devices over to it. Havent played with the enhancements I can do with my own server (like OTA pgming and faster updates) - but things work and do it reliably

PROS

It is a easy to use system to connect IoT devices to an APP for status and control. It has been incredibly reliable. For development or personal use - it is practically free - and if you have a local server it is totally free The community is great and the Blynk people are FAST to respond and help.

CONS

This is actually a challenging question. Anything I thought was a negative has turned out to be my lack of understanding - or a limit of iOS :-) Are there some features I would like - sure. And I can add them to the "things to add" pool that Blynk has - and if enough of us request them - I am certain they will show up.

Great product for rapidly deploying IoT apps

My employer contracted with Blynk to build some custom functionality for monitoring environmental parameters. We had a great experience, they designed several new UI elements to solve our needs, they've always been extremely easy to deal with and responsive to my questions. I would recommend them to anyone looking to solve a unique problem with IoT!

PROS

I've used Blynk for both personal and business use. I've used it for several small IoT projects in my house (monitoring pets, lights, temp, etc), and my employer also contracted with Blynk to perform some custom functions for an application we needed. They excel at customer service and I would recommend them for either small or large projects.

CONS

There are some features I'd like them to include, like a web dashboard. That said, this isn't really a criticism of their current offering, it's more of a feature request. I have no negatives to comment on the features they do offer, it has worked surprisingly well for me in many different applications.

Fantastic IoT System

I've used Blynk as my home automation control system, in association with Node-Red. Al of my smart home devices are controlled via the Blynk app, and it's proven 100% reliable.

PROS

It's simple and easy to create your own flexible app layouts in both iOS and Android and get them working with your hardware in just a few minutes. You can get started for free then if you want your apps to be a bot more complex you can either install your own local Blynk server and continue for free, or use the Blynk cloud servers for a small one-off payment add more app elements (widgets). A Node-Red plug-in is available with Blynk, which makes integration with other systems very easy. Great community support forum.

CONS

The iOS has a few missing features (mostly due to restrictions imposed by Apple), but its still extremely usable.

One console/ App to control all your IOT applications - Blynk!

We have been using Blynk for all our enterprise IOT clients. Blynk application is pretty solid, therefore, one can consider using it for production applications. Blynk server cannot also be setup to build a private Blynk server which will only server your IOT devices and will not be shared.

PROS

1. Drag and drop dashboards: are amazing. You can create dashboards for Web and mobile App as well. It is super easy, simply drag and drop and create buttons. 2. Display metrics: and dashboards are also amazing for data visualtization such as information from your IOT applications. 3. Secure access: to your devices is possible through auth tokens being provided by Blynk. No one else can play around with your devices without your authorization, therefore, Blynk makes its super secure.

CONS

1. For complex use cases: Blynk becomes little difficult to use for newbies since documentation is not that exhaustive. IOT devices have plenty of use cases which needs different configuration for each device, which cannot be documentated. However, major use cases shall be documented for ease of use and reducing learning curve.

The Software Bridge for the Internet of Things

For me Blynk is the first choice for the central software of an IoT idea. And the most important: it's fun!

PROS

Blynk is the ideal software solution to connect all imaginable ideas around IoT hardware and make them accessible via Android and iOS Apps. Where Blynk really shines is creating complex user interfaces for monitoring and control. What takes hours in other systems can be done in a few minutes in Blynk. It is open and also integrates into other solutions, e.g. you are free to put your monitoring data into the Blynk cloud or use your own database with a little more effort.

CONS

The documentation could be more detailed. Many good tips and examples can only be found in the Community Forum, which is well maintained by the developers.

Easy to learn it

I realized a lot of blynk projects with Arduino and esp devices with all kind of communication: Ethernet, Wi-Fi, GSM, always with success and riable. Even the choice to build your personal blynk server was a great thing when you Don does not have access to the Internet. Summing in few words: great platform

PROS

I was a Newby in C coding and I needed something cheap and versatile to test our products all around the world with real-time feedback and control. Blynk was the right choice among others - Reliable - many functions - And a great community to help

CONS

Honestly, nothing much to say about that. The only thing that I missed most was a browser interface that others may have.

Using Blynk for quite some times

I've been using Blynk for quite some times now, for controlling Things at home: rolling gate, lights, pump, etc. It never fail me. Even I've been connect it to Google Assistance through IFTTT and now my son can turn on the light by asking Googe Assistance to turn on for him, previously he has to ask us to help, because the switch is too high for him.

PROS

It's free download and still free if using for small projects. But I don't mind paying for tokens for bigger project, since it's very useful.

CONS

If we have several projects, some times it may turns to selecting project's mode. It would be a bit difficult, let's say when I need to open my gate while driving.

Wonderful Platform for Completing IoT Based Projects

Overall, my experience was worth it, considering it a free platform on my phone. Anyone interested can build his own home automation project with it. This platform even doesn't require any expert to handle it, anyone who can operate a smart phone, can operate this product also. I would really like to suggest this app to any friend or junior student of mine who is interested in IoT.

PROS

Being a student of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, I was overwhelmed by this Blynk platform when i used it to complete an IoT based term project. It is absolutely user friendly. Even those who have not worked with IoT yet, can find this product handy. this app helped me connect my home appliances together and enabled me to control them with google assistant, which is a totally different platform. Integration of other hardware and software platform e.g. IFTTT is quite convenient than any other product. In this developing sense of IoT nowadays, its demand is going to grow for sure. Hence this app can surely help people to implement their dream projects with both personal and business purposes.

CONS

The problem that i faced using this software was, it may give a person other than me the access to my project without my consent. Though good part is , it can integrate voice controlled based IoT models to ensure user security and privacy . I found some of the widgets locked, but those were of no use to me. other than those, i did not had to face any other inconvenience regarding this app.

Amazing for quick and easy IoT Implementations

Great! I use it both for quick any easy prototyping, as well as for my final products for myself.

PROS

The obvious part is, that it is astonishingly easy to connect the app with a new device and set up a new user interface. But what really surprised me is how easy it is to integrate your own code into the Blynk firmware. Furthermore the reaction time of the interactions is amazingly quick.

CONS

Mostly minor things that are fixable with workarounds: - the way how strictly the interfaced for different devices are separated onto different screens. - that always an Internet Connection is required to communicate with the devices (I haven't tried installing a local Blynk server, but I think that would fix it.)

The simple solution to DIY IOT apps

Super simple to use and supports all the common microcontroller platforms. I like the wide range of different elements you can add, especially GPS triggers and the SuperChart are great. I use it in my air quality monitor, smart lighting system, garage door opener, diy thermostat and every time I need to change values on an esp on the fly. The pricing is fair imo, since you can always delete unused elements to get your energy refunded.

PROS

Super simple to use and very well documented

CONS

Although it's a cute stylistic choice, I'd like to have a simple color wheel instead of the rgzbra , and an option to fine adjust slider values

Great platform!

Basically.. programming got easier. It’s helped me become a better programmer. Still a code hacker. :) but I understand more than I did before.

PROS

I am not a strong programmer. I guess I’d consider myself more of a code hacker than a straight up programmer. I wanted to do a few internet based projects and was hitting a few roadblock due to my lack of programming skills. I came across blynk and it pretty much solved all my problems. The setup thru the app was so easy and any additional coding I was able to do thru the Arduino IDE. It integrates with so many different devices that you can really use it with just about anything. It’s also great that every item has a usage example you can reference.

Essential for hobby projects to IOT startups

PROS

Blynk is simpler to set up, requiring only the addition of library and header files to Arduino and other code, and allowing you to submit any data to their web servers. You can also write to virtual pins in addition to digital and analog pins. This is useful for extra computed data from basic sensor inputs or reporting additional data from the device to the server. They also provide an API that you can use to combine the Blynk platform with your own bespoke dashboards and mobile apps. You can also use their own dashboard and mobile app for basic tasks.

CONS

More information may be provided in the documentation. Many useful hints and examples can only be found in the developers' well-maintained Community Forum. The strengths and faults of Blynk are intertwined. It is simple to use, but more specialized jobs are harder to do. It supports a wide range of platforms, which necessitates that it cover the lowest common denominator. Documentation could be considerably enhanced, especially lower-level API and protocol documentation, which would aid in the development of more advanced use cases.
