Transforming Ideas into Reality: Unleashing the Power of Elegant Themes Divi

Design, Development, Ecom, Content Publication, Affiliate, SEO

PROS

Since the early 2000s, I have been a loyal user of Elegant Themes (Divi), and I can't help but appreciate their unwavering commitment to seamless UI integration, top-notch design, and responsive frameworks. Their customer support is nothing short of exceptional, setting a global standard. Having them as part of my team brings me immense satisfaction and joy.

CONS

I'm truly at a loss on this one, as I am genuinely amazed by their dedication because they consistently exceed expectations, even in areas that might not be considered their direct responsibility, such as handling hosting errors. Their commitment to going above and beyond is truly exceptional.

Reason for choosing Divi

Their designs have always brought me back ... plus they integrate with anyone so if I need something off their radar ... i know it will still work

A Powerful Wordpress Software Platform

After using other visual builders, I chose Divi as the software to invest in for my growing Web Design business. The leadership at Elegant Themes is committed to future development which enforces my choice to invest in the platform

PROS

Divi has a great customer support team readily available via chat plus well-documented training videos and blog posts to learn basic and advanced features. Additionally, there is an extensive group of 3rd party developers offering solutions and training for all aspects of the software easily accessible online.

CONS

The learning curve takes a long time but as noted above, everything I needed to become an expert user is available to lean as quicky as you like.

Reason for choosing Divi

After using other visual builders, I chose Divi as the software to invest in for my growing Web Design business because of its large installed base, features set, and customer support.

A slow, bumpy road with a dead end

I manage multiple sites and train managers to use them on a regular basis. Divi is consistently requires the most training and administrative support. Divi consistently takes longer to do simple edits and results in more errors per edit than any other theme we use. Divi requires a lot of server resources and bandwidth for simple actions, making it slow for admins and punishing mobile end users who may have limited bandwidth/poor connections. A faster server will only help so much - you can't spend your way out of this.

PROS

1 - The system uses a layout system/library to allow for shared layout elements - such as headers/footers. Allows for custom elements on each page. 2 - Divi provides a WYSIWYG editor.

CONS

1 - Divi was built before WordPress used blocks and was intended to solve some of the sames issues and is incompatible. WordPress blocks are far easier to use and understand. 2 - The WSYWG editor is confusing and SLOW. Save does not always mean save, restore features lie and don't work. 3 - Divi uses separate content for mobile and desktop. A single edit must be made in multiple places. 4 - The layout system/library is hard to use and probably could have been addressed more easily using widgets or other tools provided and supported by the WordPress core. At least you don't have to touch it much. 5 - Divi does not respect boundaries between content and format. It inserts a huge amount of formatting cruft into the content which makes it slow for users. And expensive to impossible to change themes or platforms without starting from scratch. If you expect your project to have a long life, this carries significant future costs/limitations. Divi tries to do things its own way. This means that the user skills learned are not transferable and site content itself is not transferable, and that prior knowledge can't be applied. I wonder if Elegant Themes really wanted to build their own CMS from ground up without WordPress - it has always felt to me like they were trying to write a new CMS on top of another, adding new sins to old, adding redundant layers of processing and administration.

Reason for choosing Divi

The marketing firm did not have a web developer at the time they accepted the design contract. The developer they hired (after the contract was already late) did not have much experience.

I'm never leaving divi. Try it.

I first purchased divi to try on one site I was redesigning as a pro bono job for a friend, not really expecting much other than maybe a slightly more flexible template that what I'd used in the past. MAN was I wrong. I have since moved all of the sites I maintain (or create) to divi and haven't looked back.

PROS

Honestly, it's just so easy to use and not limiting. You can use it simply with a premade template, or go crazy customizing and have most everything you'd need available. Additionally, if you get too far away from your actual abilities the customer support team is absolutely fantastic.

CONS

This is totally nit-picky, but occasionally I'll come across some customizations that require some out of the box thinking to accomplish but should be something offered as a feature.

Reasons for switching to Divi

Looked like a more flexible and robust template option.

Elegant Theme's DIVI (Extra Theme) is full featured, easy to use, priced well, and is well supported

Truly fantastic to the point where I wrote management at Elegant Themes to thank them for how they structure support, and how it's allows me to quickly put together a site that meets my organizational needs.

PROS

The WordPress DIVI (Extra) theme allows me to take advantage of WordPress's innate ability to display categorized content in a much more sophisticated manner - like any major newspaper we read online. I find DIVI (Extra) relatively easy to use, but what really makes the difference is their excellent customer support. Staff at Elegant Themes are super helpful and enabled me to get a solid website up and running far quicker than I could have done by myself. There is a huge psychological benefit for me to know that I can reach out to DIVI staff when I need to and get a response in a timely manner. Sometimes it's a matter of minutes. Very occasionally (when they're really busy) I get an email a few hours later. It does not matter, however. in that they always are able to provide a solution that keeps me moving forward at goodhumanhabitat.org.

CONS

DIVI is so feature rich and has everything I need. There's really nothing that jumps out at me regarding things I like least. In a few cases, I'm surprised I need custom CSS to solve a problem, but it's no big deal because there is always knowledgeable staff available to help.

Reason for choosing Divi

I initially chose DIVI - or more specifically the "Extra" WordPress theme because it provides me with precisely the functionality that I needed to create a newspaper website that allows me to display categorized content in a myriad of pretty sophisticated ways. In the end my choices were between Elementor and DIVI. Two things really made the decision easy. The first is that DIVI offers a lifetime license. The second thing is that DIVI is reputed to have far better customer service. When I made an inquiry with DIVI, I got a real person on the chat, and got all my questions answered. When I went to the Elementor site, I got a chatbot that did not quickly provide me with the information I needed. That immediately made my decision easier.

Reasons for switching to Divi

I moved from Squarespace to the WordPress DIVI (Extra) theme so that I could take advantage of WordPress's innate ability to display categorized content in a much more sophisticated manner - like any major newspaper we read online.

This work likes a charm

The support is great, you get an answer instantly, so you are never stucked.

PROS

Of all the website builders i have seen Divi is the best. There are a lot of high quality templates, and you can not get that value for money anywhere else.

CONS

Sometimes it is hard to capture the modules and edit them

Reason for choosing Divi

Divi is so amazing, you can create the most beautifull webpages with the product.

Reasons for switching to Divi

I did not have the freedom, and it was so expensive, now i can host my own site and create all the webpages and landingpages i need.

CONS

It can get slow sometimes and it is difficult to achieve fast-loading website.

PROS

Is a One Time purchase product. No licences, no subscription, no limits on the product itself. You get what you buy. Basically they offers a one time purchase product with the guarantee of future updates, complete customization and even a infinite number of licences for web agencies.

Invaluable support and troubleshooting assistance

Divi helps a person like me in learning and working. I am involved in web design and the construction of online stores. I usually add products and list. I invested in Divi to put my online service store. Now I build other sites and shops with Divi.

PROS

Thank you very much to the whole team and all Divi maniacals for their support in solving WordPress problems. In particular, thank you very much for 72 hours of joint fight against language problems on the site. Thank you for any suggestions and ideas. The choice of your software was a hit... Not only because it's intuitive, not only because it's innovative, but above all, it has amazing support!

CONS

I have no objections. It's the best software on the market and it's being improved all the time.

Reason for choosing Divi

I have long thought about which software will be best for learning and implementation. I chose Divi because of the one-time fee. Then I was convinced by the product itself, followed by excellent technical support.

Reasons for switching to Divi

I was tempted by the price. Then I met more positive reviews, especially the lack of negative ones. Then came the question of simplicity in operation. I also like YouTube ads so I can learn more about the features of this software. Above all, I am convinced by the technical support. In addition, there is also an interesting market for plugins and add-ons. All this makes this software - a perfect product.

Divi for WordPress Review

Overall thoughts about Divi are: It is worth the money, It will speed up your build time make you more productive and the premade templates help you create an amazing website fast.

PROS

Divi is very easy to set up and get started building your website. The documentation is detailed and complete. The user interface is simple and easy to use.You can build custom layouts, headers, body, footers and more.YOu can save any page or layout you have made to reuse on the current website or a different website that you are using Dive to build it with.

CONS

Divi seems to slow down the website load speed a little. The load time of the builder could be faster at times.

Reason for choosing Divi

I choose Divi over Elementor because of the pricing package and I liked the way Divi's user interface looked.Plus Divi has better premade layouts/templates.

Reasons for switching to Divi

I made the switch to Divi because of the pricing(value) and how it helped me build great looking websites fast.

Divi is amazing... and their team is more amazing-er

Divi customer support team is amazing. If you have a problem with your site that is builder related, their team goes above and beyond to solve the problem. For instance I had a small coding error on one of my sites recently, the team not only fix the issue, they also provided a small CSS code snippet that made the page look even better! Great job team!

PROS

I have been using Divi To design websites for small companies, nonprofits, and churches for years. The functionality makes it easy to design and then turn over to a client. It's ease-of-use is top drawer amongst WordPress websites!

CONS

it's difficult to think of a con when I am always so pleased with the software. However, if they were to be one pitfall, I might say there is a fair learning curve to access some of the more detailed capabilities. But I feel that way about most software.

Reasons for switching to Divi

recommendations from other website builders that have used a multitude of themes or other building companies.

Probably the best wordpress theme in the world

It was hard in the beginning for me to learn, but not for the reason you would think so. I was so used to do design in more rigid themes that took extra effort that my brain was finding it hard to actually accept that doing things here was THAT easy. In the end I loved the usage so much that I bought the lifetime license and I use this theme in all my websites. Also the native features of the theme allowed me to eliminate about 10 plugins from my site and making it faster.

PROS

It is really hard to choose, because there are so many great features, but obviously the ability to actually see how your design is going to look like in real time and be able to switch to phone, tablet and desktop is a huge time saver and such a great help for UI/UX.

CONS

This is probably a nitpick, but I think in the Divi General Options, you should add a "Social Media" Tab, and put here a list of ALL the social networks available to people, the current options are too limited and outdated (Google+ is still an option even though that social network doesn't exists anymore). This is a feature easily found in all other themes. One great example you can take for this feature is found in the "X Theme", and while I was able to add all my social media icons to my site, I doubt most people will be thrilled to touch the code files inside the theme folder. Again, even if you know how to do it, it's a bit frustrating to go to the code files for every change you want to make when you know other themes allow you to do this pretty easily. But to be fair, compared to all the benefits from Divi, this is a minor issue.

Reasons for switching to Divi

X Theme is amazing on it's own, and definitely a good option for those who have a tight budget as the lifetime license is 6 times cheaper than Divi. However X theme is not perfect, and changed they did at the end to switch the design system ended up messing the design I already have by just updating the theme, without a way of turning back and the theme heavily relies on other plugins to add functionalities which make the website run slower. So, when the time came to have to remake the design because the update screwed up mine, trying Divi didn't seem like a bad choice, so I did and I was so impressed that I purchased the lifetime license and moved completely and with that decision I was able to eliminate about 10 plugins from my site and do many modifications that allowed my site to load WAY faster.

Vendor Response

Wow. Thank you so much for your wonderful review Rodrigo! We really appreciate your candid feedback here. We are always working on new great features for Divi. I will also pass this feedback along to our team. So glad to hear that Divi is working out so well for you. :)

The WordPress site builder everyone should look into

My overall experience with Divi has been a very good one. The tool is solid and brings a lot to the table – and the fact that's being updated and improved on a regular basis doesn't only make it one of the top WordPress builders out there, but also one that, once you've started using, is probably going to be with you for several years.

PROS

There are several features I think make Divi an incredible tool. Firstly, there's the library of templates (layouts) you can easily load and use, or customize to add your own branding elements. The user interface is relatively easy to navigate and the Drag-and-Drop approach makes the webpage-building process really intuitive. An additional feature I'm a big fan of is the ability to save and export page templates I have created and would like to use for other pages – and I can even import the exported page template to a different website running on Divi too. Plus, Divi Builder can even be paired and used with a different WordPress theme, which makes it a real Swiss army knife for anyone interested in building a website.

CONS

While it's possible to add, customize and resize elements for different devices (e.g. laptop, smartphone, and tablet), I have had issues with this feature in the past. For some reason, some images wouldn't be made completely responsive on a tablet with a portrait orientation...not ideal.

Definitely recommend they are amazing!

I think I kinda said that up above already but overall great they are great. The customer service is absolutely amazing and next level. I asked for help on how to make a customer header like the one I showed and then the guy actually made the header for me basically. Then I could just go in there and customize it to my liking but he did the majority of the work. So that was absolutely amazing and made me like speechless and I couldn't believe that. Just like I said above overall great would recommend they are just great. There is just so much would definitely recommend to someone trying to build a website.

PROS

It is just like an all-in-one system and solution since it's a theme builder and all to and just like everything you could kinda need is included I feel. Either in Divi itself or the extra stuff that comes along with it when you buy it. For example, you have access to Extra which is their magazine theme they say where you can make like reviews for things from. They also have Bloom which is their email opt-in plugin. Then they also have Monarch which is their social share and follow plugin. So you have access to all of these amazing things and also all of their premade layouts and you can do unlimited websites and you can pay a one-time unlimited fee. It is just incredible and many more I would definitely recommend them.

CONS

I guess the main thing is it is not easy to use as maybe elementor is. Since elementor I think you can edit the header of your page on your actual page I believe and make it a custom one. With Divi though if you want to create a custom header the way you want to have to go into the theme builder option and create a global header. So basically that is the gripe it does not seem as user-friendly as maybe elementor which allows you to do stuff really easily it seems and you can things around really easily. Divi is still really good and might be the best WordPress theme, builder, and visual page builder out there. Since it also has a one-time lifetime fee and no recurring payments and the extras are amazing and their support team and all is amazing. So still would recommend Divi.

Great until you want to save your work

The team that developed this software started with a GREAT concept. About the time they added in the Visual Builder, they should have branched the product, allowing those of us who liked what we had to keep the product as is. After the "upgrade" to include a visual builder, many of us were left with a far less useful theme as we could do all kinds of amazing things - but not able to SAVE our work. I don't think that being able to save an update is setting the bar too high, but at ET, it seems to be a nice add-on, not a necessity based on the experiences I have had over the years (as a charter subscriber to this theme). Those writing the code for this Wordpress Theme are apparently not complying with the Wordpress standards. I have never had to work so much on server settings or trouble shooting with any other theme or plugin as I have had to work on Divi. Don't be fooled by the Divi Marketplace or the Divi Hosting spin-offs that make ET look like they have taken WP to a new level, they're "renegades" who just can't be bothered to comply with the reasonable and stability-focused standards that the Wordpress community has established. After years of trying to hang in there and hope that they would come around - I'm ready to start evaluating other options as Divi just doesn't ever seem like it will work efficiently for my clients' sites.

PROS

The graphical interface for setup of a page, thorough menus for making customizations, and ability to copy or drag-and-drop modules on a page is amazingly convenient!

CONS

On many occasions, I have not been able to save my changes - losing a good deal of time as work I have done is lost. While the company (Elegant Themes) _claims_ to have live chat support, it can be HOURS before hearing back on a question. Most recently, I was requested by the support staff to turn off an important part of my server's security software in order to allow the theme to run without errors. NO!

Reason for choosing Divi

It seemed at the time of purchase that I would have a tool that would allow me to develop new sites and update pages more efficiently than with most themes available at the time. Uniform interface across all sites while providing a unique look and individual functionalities were very appealing concepts. The inability to click on "Publish" or "Update" and know that my work would be rendered properly, however, turns all of the theoretical advantages upside down.

Professional Looking Websites By Beginners in Web Design

While generally easy to use, for better SEO, may need to know some customization to ensure seamless integration with WordPress. Sheer amount of features means a possible learning curve. Once familiarized, one can customize to one's liking any parts of any pages of the website with different components to suit specific needs.

PROS

- Value for money as Divi can be used on unlimited number of sites. - User friendly with intuitive dashboard, ease and simplicity of use - Advanced page building features with a lot of design flexibility, giving users the power to build custom designed websites without needing to know any programming codes and still achieving professional looking websites. Great for beginners in web design and development because it makes building WordPress websites simple and fast.

CONS

- Unless one is a seasoned Divi user, Divi can be slow because whenever one adds a new element to a page, it adds extra CSS and JavaScripts to the websites. Divi also has a lot of codes that a site may not even need but cannot remove entirely without breaking the system. This can create multiple issues with Google Core Web Vitals assessment. Loading a Divi website with multiple plugins can take a long time. This may be detrimental for mobile users and may mean poor search engine optimization (SEO). - Divi does not included breadcrumbs by default, hence need to add breadcrumb plugin to the system. - Divi does not generate XML sitemap automatically.

Reasons for switching to Divi

Cost and customization.

Divi is the Best

I honestly couldn't recommend this software, and the team behind it highly enough. I continue to have an amazing journey with the Divi Team and enjoy working on my pages and websites because of them. It has been and I'm sure will continue to be an amazing experience on all fronts because I know it will continue to just get better by the minute. The team is great, the software is great and the whole experience couldn't be better.

PROS

The thing I most like about Divi is its ease of use and ever-growing, progressive learning curve. If I think of where I was when I first started, I knew absolutely nothing about building my own website and it is largely with the support of the fantastic team at Divi plus the great templates they have to progressively learn that I have been able to achieve building one. Now I know that with the Divi team, anything is possible, all it takes is a question and they will do their absolute best to answer it thoroughly plus take on board any improvement suggestions I may have. It truly is software with a fantastic team behind it and built with people at its centre which is what makes me feel so confident in using it.

CONS

oops I think I answered this in some of the earlier slots. The great thing is that the Divi team is always open to listening and adjusting as required. That's a big part of what makes it so great.

Reason for choosing Divi

I chose Divi mainly because of its diversity and the possibilities it offered. I didn't want to have to change at a later stage once I had learned some basics so although I recognized that it would be a learning curve I decided to go through that journey together. I do have to admit it wasn't always easy, to begin with, but that was not the software it was the fact that I was a complete beginner. But as I had imagined, with the help of the Divi team navigating through each little learning curve, over time with their help my confidence has grown together with my website building skills. I know I will always be able to build websites that I love together with the support of the Divi Team; we really have grown together. I have never regretted it, it was one of the best decisions I ever made in my website journey.

Divi

To begin with, Divi is pretty straightforward to get started, but the more I use it the more I realise I don't know. This is nothing against Divi it shows what a great tool Divi is and the many features and functions there are. I do know that most of my cons above are because I just haven't learnt how to do it better so there is a learning curve and a lot to learn but I love learning it - thank you to support for your continued patience.I do love using Divi it's so diverse and I can offer my clients so much.

PROS

I love the variety of the functions and the flexibility of what I can do. I didn't realise how good it was until I tried to edit an old website on an old builder. The flexibility with Divi is amazing. I love the awesome support. No matter how little a question someone always takes the time to answer my question. Knowing I have the support is an absolute game changer for me.

CONS

I think the drag and drop, moving elements and resizing could be a lot easier. At the moment it always seems to work better if go into the module and adjust the spacing (it's a bit slow this way but I get better results). I also feel like the ease to make a website mobile responsive needs to improve. I am getting faster but it still takes me more time than I want to spend on it to adjust the design across desktop, iPad and mobile.Things like transform is a great function but if I use it on a desktop it upsets all of the spacing and causes major issues with mobile optimisation so I am kind of like what's the point of this function ( I only use it for mobile if I really need too now). I would love it if the H1, H2, H3 sizes could be set for desktop, ipad and mobile in the themes options right from the start. It's a pain changing every module. I know I need to create a global setting but it would be so much easier if it was in the theme options.

Reason for choosing Divi

At the time it was definitely the price

Reasons for switching to Divi

I switch because of all the themes Divi offered. Now I use Divi as my builder and build a lot of themes from scratch. Divi was an unexpected surprise and gave me more than I could imagine. It's awesome

Divi Theme and it's positive Features

Using Divi Theme you can create modern websites very quickly. The price of the theme is reasonable for the offered functionality and the licensing policy is very moderate compared to other themes. Therefore, I can still recommend the Divi theme for most websites.

PROS

When I first tried the Divi theme, I was very surprised that it doesn't require writing a single line of code to create responsive layouts. What I often had to painstakingly create directly in CSS can be done with Divi without even knowing what CSS is, by simply using a slider. There's no more backend where you have to paste shortcodes (and don't you dare forget a bracket!). You work directly on your site in Divi and see your changes immediately. This is a really big advantage compared to before where shortcodes were used or other page builders.Just clicked the wrong button and the layout slipped? Divi has an Undo function that lets you undo your last changes with just one click.Divi comes with a variety of modules. So you can easily add images, sliders, icons, texts, price lists, videos, newsletter forms, galleries, countdowns and much more to your site. Additional plugins are not necessary. This offers the advantage that your site will not be slowed down by a multitude of plugins.

CONS

Updates don't always seem to be tested very well by Elegant Themes - it has happened quite often that after an update some smaller things didn't work anymore. Or the new functions work for simple use cases, but cause problems in detail. The Divi backend (the Divi Builder) still feels very sluggish even after the latest performance improvements to the frontend. Working especially with longer pages often becomes a test of patience even with potent equipped servers ...

Reason for choosing Divi

in 2015 I just was intuitive. I didn't realize how it developed that successful, because easy to work with

Excellent website builder, powerful but easy too

All in all I’m very happy with this theme. I’ve been able to overcome almost every obstacle and issue or to find an acceptable alternative since it’s very flexible and the span of your creativity is the biggest limitation :)

PROS

Divi has a real lot of pro’s: it’s powerful, feature packed, has a great library of ready made templates with import / export capabilities, has a great customer service (YMMV but 9/10 has been helpful if not super helpful). Even a novice can get the basic stuff done easily in no time, but on the other hand an expert can benefit of very deep customisation features, ability to add custom code and many other advanced features. The best part is that, being widely used, on the web you can find myriads of tutorials, helpful websites, templates to download, forums and the like. This is of great help for the less experienced users since you can seek or ask for help and be reasonably sure to find an answer since the theme is so widely used.

CONS

Divi is very powerful and feature packed, and that might negatively affect builder and website speed on cheap/ low tier hostings. With a reputable one, however, you can tune your website to be very performant (using third party plugins and custom coding you can easily reach 90-100 in pagespeed scores). Deep under the hood customisation might be difficult sometimes since it’s very large and convoluted

Reason for choosing Divi

Since it’s so commonly utilised, there are a real lot of useful and helpful resources online, as well as templates, tips and tricks and such.

Elegant Themes: Divi

Our workflow has definitely improved since employing the Divi theme. All our users are now on the same Elegant Themed layouts which has and is proving to be very positive. Support teams we must also state are ecelelnt and always respond very quickly, if not instantly in our experience. To be perfectly honest, moving onto Divi was the best decision we have made, won't be moving away from the theme or company.

PROS

Ease of use, flexibility, json feature, variety of relevant plugins, value for money, and the support is second to none in our experiences with the teams, first class and the Divi builder is very user friendly and have to say as an aside... visually pleasing!

CONS

Elegant Themes are constantly improving it's services and products, which is much appreciated in order to improve and keep up with - if not ahead of technical developments and trends - which is important.

Reason for choosing Divi

Divi is so much more versatile as a product, and lends itself extermely well to new, and therefore can be fairly inexperienced staff, or indeed, to the more advanced users and coders.

Reasons for switching to Divi

We required a product which we would use across the board as it wer, that is, one theme. Divi fulfilled everything we required. The theme is extremely well designed, has consistent updates with new features and the support is to be honest first class.

Great product

I have build my own professional site using Divi. Have a friend that also needed to build a site. She hired a bureau doing the same and paid $2.000. And I would say that my Divi build site is at the same pro level and a huge advantage is that it customized exactly like I want it and I know exactly how to maintain it my self. So I saved a bunch of dollars building it on my own and maintaining it my self. My customers and visitors seem to be able to find their way on my site based on new customers coming in and their questions related to the site. Even more an advantage is that I can implement relevant adjustments myself on the fly, based on feedback from customers.

PROS

Amazing number of options to build professional sites. And I am 'just' a user - meaning I am not a developer, or designer. This proves that Divi is easy to use for everybody. And what makes a major difference is Divi supporters. Fantastic help - 24/7 livechat and you securely give them access to your builder and they can provide targeted help. I also joined great facebook Divi groups with Divi users like myself that share, help and inspire each others with all kinds of Divi related questions.

CONS

The free Divi layouts are great, numerous and new ones also coming in. But maybe more frequent new updates of fresh modern designs would be great. A slider with more options would also be great.

Reason for choosing Divi

Divi was recommended to me by my brother, who've used it for the past 6 years.

Reasons for switching to Divi

Because it was way to disperse with different plugins that didn't necessarily work together or overlapping eachother. I surely needed a 360 degree solution. When I switch to Divi I was so relieved. I had all in one solution! Of course you need plugins, but way fewer and more important - I can seek advice from Divi 24/7 support that can recommend the best plugins if needed.
