## Reviews summary

- Overall rating: 4.5/5
- Total reviews: 1,399

### Secondary ratings

- Ease of use: 4.5/5
- Customer support: 4.7/5
- Value for money: 4.3/5
- Functionality: 4.2/5

### Rating distribution

- 5 stars: 816 reviews (58%)
- 4 stars: 482 reviews (34%)
- 3 stars: 71 reviews (5%)
- 2 stars: 16 reviews (1%)
- 1 star: 14 reviews (1%)

### Most mentioned pros

- This cloud-based software allows uploading PDF blueprints and performing highly precise takeoffs (calculating areas, volumes, and lengths) in a few clicks
- I’d estimate that we have cut our take-off and estimating time by about 30% because of changing to STACK, and that we are getting considerably more accurate reviews.
- The scaling feature works really well as well as having the ability to isolate items and keep the separated

### Most mentioned cons

- The printing from stack can be tricky to figure out as it downloads to pdf and then you have to open a new pdf to print
- I don't like how I cant use the products that are in my personal stack library to select the titles or names of the takeoff's I create.
- Sometimes also bugs out when I create an item, it doesn't register, and when I go to create it again both copies are there.

I like the older version better than the newer version, the older one is more comfortable for me, easier to use.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The document upload process is very easy, and the zoom feature makes it much easier to view plans in detail than with other Software

#### Cons

They keep updating the software, but I don’t really like all of the new features. In particular, the measurement tool has become difficult to use. I often struggle to draw a straight line, and the measurements are not always accurate.

Overall, it is WAY better than any of the other services/apps we have used, and keeps getting better as they develop it more and more. We just added the AI and it is legitimately useful for certain things. I’d estimate that we have cut our take-off and estimating time by about 30% because of changing to STACK, and that we are getting considerably more accurate reviews.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Awesome support, great people, clean interface, support for detailed assemblies, ability to build out and maintain your own instance without having to hire someone, very sophisticated estimating interface, constant stream of upgrades and improvements.

#### Cons

There is always room to make it better - like every app we use I can think of things I’d love to have added. And, like everyone I have found small details which for my own uses would ideally work differently, but when I ask about them I generally can see that the reason it is designed the way it is was because of what the majority of users need.

#### Reasons for choosing STACK

Pretty sure we tried all the major players, it was a lot of them! All the reasons I cited in my review. And it has proven to be a very wise choice. We are renewing for the third year next month.

#### Reasons for switching to STACK

We have tried several others previously and needed a more robust solution with a far better interface and usability. I dont recall the names anymore and just picked the above because it made me pick one.

We are still enjoying the software and the ease it does bring to our process. Customer support is always top notch and I look forward to the other enhancements to come.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I recently had a wonderful experience with the support team. I was confused about a calculation on a takeoff. I chatted in and after a few messages back and forth I was offered to hop on a quick Zoom call. I was able to share my screen and within a minute or two we had everything figured out. It was seamless and so easy!

#### Cons

There is still not a mobile device app for the takeoff/estimate program. The website version on a mobile device is read only and is not a great experience at this time.

### Estimating great, project management not so much

- Overall rating: 3/5

Our company is a development company, so doing lots of estimates is not something we need. But we do need robust project management systems. For us, STACK is overly developed on the estimating side, but not developed enough on the project management side.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

The estimating section of STACK is excellent. Take off tools work great, including the ability to overlay plans. The help subjects and support for estimating is very good as well.

#### Cons

The build and operate (project management) portion of STACK is much less useful and workable than other available systems. The mobile app does not work with Android phones or tablets. The photos are not easily viewable/searchable.

#### Reasons for choosing STACK

When we first chose STACK, we needed to reduce the cost for online project management and STACK seemed to be our best option

#### Reasons for switching to STACK

Procore was very expensive for us since we don't have a lot of projects. STACK is much more affordable than ProCore.

10/10 Satisfaction. The platform is very versatile, user-friendly, and easy to use for both simple and complex tasks. The tools are intuitive, the interface is well organized, and the overall experience has been smooth, efficient, and reliable throughout my use

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Its a very user-friendly website with self-explanatory tools that make the platform easy to navigate and use. The interface is clean, organized, and efficient, which helps save time and makes the overall experience smooth and convenient for daily tasks.

#### Cons

Sometimes the platform feels a little slow, although it may be related to my internet connection or when using a VPN. Aside from that, the experience has been good overall, but improving the loading speed and responsiveness would make it even better.

#### Reasons for switching to STACK

- Product usage: Used daily for less than 2 years
- Reviewed: May 2026

Overall, it is a mostly great experience. I prefer it over most other estimating software's I have tried.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The thing I like the most is the actual look and design of stack. It feels very modern compared to other software. I like how everything seems to flow together and everything is east to find.

#### Cons

Price compared to others is extremely more expensive. One of our biggest issues is with addendums (updates) for plans. When we receive and update, sometimes we have to replace the whole sheet in the original plan. When we delete the original and drop in the new sheet. It automatically gets put into a random place. If would be VERY helpful if we can move and drag the sheet to the correct order for organization. Some other issues are getting laggy when doing lots of takeoffs. Also, sometime the middle mouse button glitches out and stops moving the sheet. It'll switch to when I click with the left mouse bottom, the screen will move but when I click again it stops. I have to close the program to fix this issue.

#### Reasons for switching to STACK

The mean reason was not having to load into a sever to connect everyone to the same projects. Stack requires us just to need an internet connection. Also, it's easier to train new employees from the ease of use.

STACK has been a wonderful product for our takeoff needs and we are looking forward to utilizing the estimating features.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Our sales rep, [sensitive content hidden] and trainer, [sensitive content hidden], have been a pleasure to work with. They respond quickly and thoroughly to resolve issues and have provided great support throughout the years.

#### Cons

Lack of stamp options and we haven't seen the audit feature that we were told was rolling out earlier this month. It would be nice to have a "lock" feature where the bid set cannot be inadvertently modified by takeoff operators - especially as you can't undo it.

#### Reasons for switching to STACK

We switched from Pro Contractor Studios, but it isn't listed. Files from architects often had layered CAD and would lead to lags/crashing. Wasn't accessible in the field and the quantities didn't adjust when changed.

The people have been super friendly from the start, and they do always try to help. Being able to use the chat to start support is great as well. I do my best to attend their webinars about new features as well.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The price was very the right mix of features and dollars when compared to other software like it. We are a small operation and couldn't a high purchase price plus training costs. The training was included for stack, which was great.

#### Cons

For the roofing industry they do not always seem the most knowledgeable about how to help us. Their examples seem to be plumbing or concrete which doesn't always apply to what we are trying to do.

#### Reasons for choosing STACK

Price and training availability and costs were the main factors.

Not any of our problems yet. Not any reason we bought it, has it created a solution for, but I still see how it can and hopefully will over time, and that is why I am still here. Well that and probably because I don't want to admit that maybe we should have waited till they had a finished product with the kinks worked out. while this may cause eye rolls... Put yourselves in our shoes. If a customer purchases up front, 100% of a roof from me because I showed them a picture of a finished roof and told them it was a complete ready to go finished roof, yet only put on 50-75% of it and then said well I will be back next year to finish the rest, sorry about the inconvenience in the mean time. Would that be ethical? No! It would not, yet that is exactly what stack ct did to us and that is what iroof did to us, and that is what roofsnap did to us, and that is what adobe does to us, and, and ,and, and it is wrong. These are not the things employees doing the work decide, it is the work of those in charge and investors. So I don't and won't blame the workers, but I do blame the rest of you. Please consider what I have taken the time to share and please be motivated intrinsically to do better!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 1/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

I liked the super awesome sales and teaching staff when they can be reached. the support staff excluding 1 that are available and pretty much only by email do not in any way provide the same level of connection, community, support, or personal touch the others do.

#### Cons

Since all the soft ware companies we reviewed over the last year follow the same pattern of, promise the moon before we buy, show us what it will look like when its finished, but cannot deliver what they promised when they were courting us, because they sell an incomplete project knowing we roped in for a year, it must be ok right? NO! IT'S NOT OK! I had to promise a kidney to get the [SENSITIVE CONTENT] to purchase this product, I showed the perceived time savings, the better product, and etc. Yet when we bought it I was able to show him anything but a prettier product. Do I think we will get there and do I think its a good program? Yes and Yes but it may be as much because I want to believe it is without the actual proof there to definitely say it is. I just hope I can Convince him to let me renew the subscription next year cause it is going to take me all of a year to learn this system well enough to make it pay. Between how much slower i am at turning out these estimates even though they are better, and how many important and promised functions are either not actually functional or they are at not user friendly without 1 on1 help if they are functional etc.

#### Reasons for choosing STACK

money and integration with builder trend and excel

#### Reasons for switching to STACK

I believed this would serve both the commercial and residential departments with 1 product that appeared to be very complete and user friendly. Also because I believed it would drone measure better and it would be faster and more easily integrated into our overall go to approach, and it would scale better. Very little of this ended up being the case so far.

#### Ratings breakdown

I really feel confident while using the estimating feature of it, packaging up with the takeoff and assemblies. Also the customer support is absolutely fantastic. Their new feature of estimating worksheet makes estimate creation way better than ever. The amount of charges we pay it is totally value for money tool in our system. Their continuous efforts in developing the performance and speed is marvelous

#### Cons

I wish it could have the history feature in project, where you can see who did what previously in that project.

#### Ratings breakdown

Our team had an overall positive experience while using the product; however, when the renewal came around this year (nearly $7,000) they auto drafted for the entire year. I reached out because we have transitioned to a new CRM and will not be using their platform, I requested a refund but they refused. We’ve even reached out to the manager who hasn’t responded. I think it’s really crappy to take that amount of money from a small business knowing they’re not going to use the system. I understand there is a contract verbiage to notify 30 days in advance (which I failed to do) but to charge us fully for the entire year is unreasonable in my opinion. For that reason I wouldn’t recommend them.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5

The accuracy of the measuring tools is top-tier. I particularly like the "Item & Assembly" structure—it ensures that when I measure a wall, I'm not just getting linear footage, but a full breakdown of studs, drywall, and insulation. The reporting is clean and professional for client presentations

#### Cons

It’s a premium product and the pricing reflects that. For very small shops or solo contractors, the cost might feel a bit high compared to basic desktop tools, but the time saved justifies it for us.

I am not an estimator but was a Project Manager and the way I could get exactly what I needed from Stack and even being able to convert data into a CSV was amazing. I wish when I was interviewing an estimator they came across this system because it does take a little bit of transitioning from such a robust software they previously used to our easy system.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Simplicity yet so much can come from it. There's endless videos on how to use. Building assemblies is such an easy thing to do. Collaboration is also done and you are able to track time spent on each estimate and job cost. Love how great the style is and the way it is kept easy and simple to navigate. Nothing robust.

#### Cons

Not a lot of people are aware of stack or believe stack is overpriced. Making this system known to others would be great so that whoever we employ already has Stack knowledge.

### STACK is one of the most important players on our team!

The problems we're solving with STACK include material estimating for large scale retail remodels and large custom residential homes. It's important to know how much of what type of materials to order - not too much, and certainly not too little. STACK has helped us save money by not over ordering, due to the fees associated with returns.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

I began using STACK with an employer that I had worked for several years ago. The ease of use, accuracy, and stellar customer support for the times I really needed it is why I have also decided to use STACK to perform estimations on my own for side jobs and have brought it along with me to my current employer for daily bidding and material takeoff use. I couldn't imagine going back to pen and paper.

#### Cons

Since STACK is constantly improving and rolling out new updates, I can't think of anything off hand that could be added or improved. There have been a couple of times that I called in with requests that were actually implemented into STACK, which really speaks to their attention to their customers.

#### Pros

The fact that it is all online and our ops guys can see the plans at the jobsite from their phone.

#### Cons

I love using your software but there are 2 things that I would like for you to improve.Sometimes I upload multiple pages for a project. When I am working on the takeoff you can see On the left the plans that you are working on listed on listed by plan name . It would be nice to be able to go to the pages that you are working on by simply clicking on the page name that is listed on the left side.Slope factorIts great that we are able to measure the basic slope by using the built in slope factor calculator. But that is only helpful for measuring the basic slope of the roof area and the rake and sidewall. But it would be great if you can add the valley and hip factor as well. It is hard to get the exact measurement without that because the hip / valley slope factor is different than the basic slope of the roof. Please see the link below that will explain what I am talking about in regards to the hip and valley. [sensitive content hidden]
