Operational in the legal market since 1997, BEC’s server-based legal management system offers case management, contact management, calendaring and docketing, document assembly, document formatting, and metadata management within an all-inclusive suite.
BEC’s system integrates with Microsoft applications including Outlook and Word. MatterLink provides a matter information center for case details, related contacts, notes, attachments, and custom fields. Specifically suited for both Litigation and Transactional practice areas, BEC Docket Enterprise/Schedule Express includes calendar, docket, and task management within one module. The system stores practice group schedules in a centralized database while updating individual Outlook calendars and task lists with information from the group schedule; includes date calculation formulas, automated reminders, integration with court rules, and multiple time zone scheduling; and prevents the accidental deletion of important appointments from individual calendars through a complete audit trail.
We especially like BEC’s LegalBar module that works seamlessly with Microsoft Word by attaching its features directly to the Word tool ribbon for document formatting. Templates, File Stamps, and Styles and Numbering modules can be implemented one-by-one or together, making this a flexible option that will save time and headaches for legal teams. Assemble-It organizes often used legal language into practice group or personal content libraries. These can be attached to Q&A scripts and dropped into documents directly from Word’s task pane.
Awarded the Cozen O’Conner Information Services “Most Innovative Solution” title in 2012, BEC is an on-premise system that is best suited for legal offices that are already using Microsoft Outlook and Word. Practices with at least 20 attorneys work best with the program, and it works with a variety of legal specialties including estate planning, real estate, tax, and litigation.

We wanted to integrate document management, docketing, billing and document assembly. BEC does it. And it plays nice w/ FormTool, another rad product.
BEC is ProLaw but better. It allows us to link matters, clients, contacts, and documents. I've used imanage, and ProLaw, and BEC is the best solution I've seen so far. I love how we enter a new matter in our billing system and BEC automatically grabs the info, links it.
Some of the non-techies can have a difficult time at first w/ the SQL-text list views of matters and contacts. It's non-iphone-ish.
