### Most mentioned pros

- Superior customer support with live agents -- never a "bot".
- It has been 50/50 - The daily use is friendly, however the functionality for more specific features is restricted.

### Most mentioned cons

- There are times where it is difficult to adjust user permissions.
- There are also reporting features that are not available, such as Retainer replenishment alerts.

#### Pros

This is the BEST legal accounting software out there in my opinion! It is intuitive and easy to use and customize. The best is how easy it is to change or undo something. This is great for bookkeeping. Big time saver.

#### Cons

I don’t have any cons for myself but I would imagine my clients would prefer if it had more CRM abilities. That said, that WILL be changing soon via thier partnership with Actionstep.

Look, functionality, precision, reporting abilities, and cloud accessibility

#### Reasons for switching to Actionstep Legal Accounting

Functionality is much higher and Soluno is a cloud based software which is key to success these days.

Awful. After 11 months we are looking to switch again, as is everyone on our floor.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 1/5
- Value for money: 2/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 2/5

#### Pros

It's cloud based which is good. There aren't many others. If I could give a negative stars I would. We switched from PC law which had become outdated and unreliable. We switched based on our bookkeeper's recommendation. It has been nothing short of a disappointment. The customer service that had been promised is non-existent. Our bookkeeper who works at a medium sized firm that had switched has confirmed that the customer service has deteriorated significantly in the last year to the point she is no longer recommending it. But it makes little sense. Difficult to navigate.

#### Cons

Where to start. It's things big and small. For example, the icons that were chosen, presumably to make it easier, don't really make sense. It is difficult to navigate and cumbersome. PC Law had become outdated and unreliable. But it was intuitive. Soluno makes everything more complicated.

#### Reasons for switching to Actionstep Legal Accounting

BOOKKEEPER RECOMMENDED. SHE NOW CONCEDES THAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL.

#### Vendor response

### Easy Implementation and Great Support Team

- Overall rating: 5/5
- Reviewer: Nicole M.
- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: Law Practice
- Company size: 11-50 employees
- Product usage: Used daily for less than 6 months
- Reviewed: April 2023
- Review source details: This review was submitted organically. No incentive was offered

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The conversion and implementation was easy and faster than expected. Overall the software works great and our lawyers find it simple to use, including when working remotely. We had a smooth transition from our old system to Soluno without missing a beat, all of our files and their settings and history carried over so there was only a short "downtime" during the conversion. But most of all, the support team have been amazing both for the initial setup and in providing continuing support, answering questions, and finding custom solutions to meet our unique needs.

#### Cons

There is some online documentation for the bigger features but there are also a lot of settings that are not covered in the how-to documents. It would be better if more documentation were available. Also, it might just be my computer but some features (payables, reports) don't work quite right in Firefox although they work fine in the Edge browser. Reports generate their totals/summaries at the bottom, so often you have to scroll a long way down to get to the totals you want to see - it's missing a "totals only" setting to prevent that.

#### Reasons for choosing Actionstep Legal Accounting

The biggest deciding factor vs the other options was that Soluno allowed us to bring over our entire full docket history, including previously invoiced dockets, so that the entire billing history for each file is viewable in Soluno. This means we don't have to go back and consult our old accounting system to locate dockets and invoices from years ago. It was also important that Soluno handles all our accounting without needing an additional QuickBooks integration. The fact that many features, functions and reports in PCLaw are analogous to PCLaw also made the learning curve easy.

#### Reasons for switching to Actionstep Legal Accounting

We were unhappy with our previous accounting software, because (among other reasons) it was not friendly when working remotely.

### Soluno has revolutionized our firm management and accounting

Everything in our experience has been top-notch and a dramatic difference from Thomson Reuters, a massively larger company than Devlos. From our first interaction with their sales force, to onboarding and importation of data, to making feature requests that are actually acted upon, the experience has been 100% positive.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Soluno has the best of both worlds – the law firm business intelligence of a mature product like PCLaw with the freedom and convenience of a browser-based solution. I love everything about it. Here are the top reasons you should switch to Soluno too: 1) it has a well-designed user interface that is intuitive but powerful; 2) it is a sophisticated platform with billing and accounting made for attorneys, not something generic like QuickBooks that is a poor fit for lawyers; 3) incredible, fine-grained reporting on every metric you could imagine for timekeepers, firm performance and accounting; 4) surprisingly snappy performance that will convince you the server is in your office; 5) wonderful, attentive customer service, including listening to feature requests and acting on them quickly; and 6) free (depending on firm size) importation of data from our previous system. In our previous system (Firm Central + QuickBooks Online), posting a payment required five manual steps in two systems. In Soluno, it’s one step that’s lightning quick and will save us considerable time and hassle.

#### Cons

The only thing I’ve noticed is that there isn’t much of an online help utility, but there is a customer support widget in the corner for live chat support that is quite responsive.

#### Reasons for choosing Actionstep Legal Accounting

Soluno is the only product that combines the sophistication and configurability of a system like PCLaw with the ease-of-use and flexibility of a web-based interface. Most practice management vendors spend too much time trying to make their products emulate Outlook and document management and not enough focusing on what they should – billing and accounting for law firms. As a result, they are too primitive and simplistic even for small firms. Soluno met our requirements exactly by perfecting billing and accounting for our law firm.

#### Reasons for switching to Actionstep Legal Accounting

Firm Central feels like it hasn't changed in years. A recent three-week outage preventing sync with QuickBooks was the final straw. Feature requests fall on deaf ears, and the need for a separate accounting system results in duplicative entries and unwieldy processes for simple tasks.

#### Vendor response

Hi Barry - we are so grateful for these kind words! Our team values making sure our clients feel heard and supported and we're so happy to read that our efforts have had an impact. We're excited to continue working alongside your firm and keep the revolution going!

Time savings is a huge plus with the software. Also the cloud based software is great, easy to access on numerous devices if necessary. I can keep an eye on productivity very easily and that is very important to the bottom line. Very easy to use software.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Integration from PCLAW was seamless. All trust activity was moved from PCLAW and that was very important. We have over 30 staff and the videos for all of the functions were very good and almost no additional training was needed. Very intuitive software

#### Cons

I really don't like that it doesn't pick up a/r's on billing. Also when changes are made in the prebill mode it doesn't change the trust transfer amount. I often bill 50 matters at a time and I have to be so careful to change these amounts. On occasion I don't catch them and it just looks bad from a client perspective.

#### Reasons for choosing Actionstep Legal Accounting

All round much better software. Most of what we looked at either had a 3rd party link for some of the functionality and same cost for a lot less functions.

#### Reasons for switching to Actionstep Legal Accounting

Remote access (which they say they won't support) was just not conducive anymore with people working from home and such a large staff.Old software and often problematic. Their tech support fees were very costly for old software I had been working on for 38 years. Their tech support staff was also terrible.

#### Pros

It is amazingly easy to use. Especially compared to other law firm products commonly used. Whenever I have a question or need help, the support team is absolutely fantastic; their customer service is is definitely above and beyond.

#### Cons

I would like more direct features rather than 3rd party features (email management, document management, BF/Reminder system).

#### Reasons for switching to Actionstep Legal Accounting

PC Law is antiquated and have not made any major updates, or done any "growth" is years. Difficult to use (not intuitive). Glitchy. etc, etc.

We previously used PCLaw and decided to make a change mostly because we had software problems that wouldn't be addressed nor fixed by the company but also we made a company decision to move to cloud-based software. The transition to Soluno was easy. The software was similar in function to what we were used to because representative were involved with PCLaw previously. That made it an easier transition for our employees. They continue to be extremely responsive to our suggestions for enhancements to the software.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

This software is very user friendly and the tech support is very quick to respond and fix any issue we may encounter. They keep improving and adding new features regularly. Their team also explains things in understandable terminology and not "industry" language - very helpful!

#### Cons

There are some integrations (ie: credit card payments and payroll GL importing) that aren't available but I am assured that they are on the list for future improvements to the software. A printable user manual and basic (for new users) and advanced (for existing users) training videos would also be helpful.

#### Reasons for choosing Actionstep Legal Accounting

We made a company decision to move to cloud-based software and Soluno was similar in function to what we were used. Their team was also extremely responsive to our concerns and questions, before and after implementation. They continue to be an amazing company to work with!

#### Reasons for switching to Actionstep Legal Accounting

LexisNexis wasn't putting effort into fixing their product. We would discuss our continued problems with PCLaw which lasted several years with LN management and technical team but wouldn't get any resolution. In fact, they started to cut tech support staff making it more and more difficult to get issues fixed.

they have been bought by a parent company but has retained their main Canadian staff members, have been though 2 year ends with the software and needed to contact our main point each time to ensure we were using the correct reports. possibly just need to get these long term reports working or had slight changes due to process changes/updates during the year, but they worked with us to make sure we had our complex compensation reports run each year.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

Conversion process is easy, making sure you have a consultant and soluno staff available to assist was very helpful getting us up and running smoothly.

#### Cons

the level of customizability needs intervention by soluno dev/staff, but this might just be cloud software vs on prem.

#### Reasons for switching to Actionstep Legal Accounting

prolaw was on prem, the remote/web interface and mobile app are very different from the desktop interface. statement allocations are inaccurate, data is deleted/reset.. write offs are treated as payments.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5

#### Pros

What I like most about Soluno is the ease of use. The program is very user friendly. It makes keep track of your time and dockets very seamless and quick. I also really appreciate the fact that there is an automatic spell check on all your entries.I also like how easy it is to access all client information including trust balances, in just one click.

#### Cons

There isn't too much that I dislike about the program. If I had to pick something it would be in regards to billing. Sometimes the program takes a while to produce PDF statements. I wish that if you looked at your draft statement as a PDF you could just make the corrections/changes directly on the PDF. Also when reviewing statements, It is quite inconvenient when you make a correction but it goes back to the top of the list so you have to search for where you left off.

#### Reasons for switching to Actionstep Legal Accounting

The cost and the effectiveness was not within the firms goals. PC Law was causing a lot of issues.

It is a much more up to date product than the previous version but still a little clunky

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

It is a modern tool, and the support is almost always immediate and very helpful

#### Cons

It is counter-intuitive without the accompanying manual. It is geared to US law firms so most of the pre-programmed codes are irrelevant. Most annoying are (i) the inability to change change out rates across a file instead of manually changing each time entry and (ii) inability to charge for a fixed period of time eg ignore time for April, raise a bill for May: cannot be done.

#### Cons

There is nothing I don't like about this product.

#### Reasons for choosing Actionstep Legal Accounting

We had some negative reviews about PC Law regarding it becoming antiquated. Soluno was much more user friendly and we appreciate that they are continually updating and improving their software based on the needs and recommendations from its clients.

#### Reasons for switching to Actionstep Legal Accounting

Too much time was being spent recording the same information in 3 locations. Time Slips for billing and Business Works for accounting did not talk to each other and I still had manual client ledger cards.

#### Vendor response

Thank you for your kind words Carla. Its great to hear that Soluno has been such a great fit for your firm!

#### Pros

Soluno is a great product with superb training and customer service. You get more than you pay for with Soluno. The product is web-based, which is great for lawyers being able to keep track of time and docket from anywhere - zero excuses for dockets not being in on time! As with any law firm, we strive to please our clients, which includes, presenting invoices in any manner that is desired by the clients; Soluno has spent countless hours working with me to ensure that each and every client receives what they want when they are billed. As a growing firm, we require training for new staff on a rolling basis; Soluno ensures that time is made to train our new staff immediately; usually on their first day. Overall, Soluno is very easy to use, has various reporting capabilities, can be used anywhere and has amazing staff, who are always available and always pleasant!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

I like that it is cloud based, which reduces the risk to data. I also like the calendar function for both tracking dockets and performance.

#### Cons

Information re the remaining funds in trust and WIP amounts on a client matter needs to be more readily available (it should appear when you hover over the client name or something) when you docket on the daily timesheet.

works okay - some parts are better than others, not user friendly to find information and run reports

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Functionality: 2/5

#### Pros

running reports is helpful, screens are easy to read and navigate, easy to find client matters

#### Cons

understanding the tabs to run reports or look up information is not user friendly, reports cannot be printed in a format that is easy to read - too small and jammed together - should be able to screen print and not have to convert to a PDF to print

Pleased. Integration went well as we had the services of [SENSITIVE CONTENT], and Soluno team working with us.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

(1) Knowledgeable Customer Service staff. (2) Ease in entering and confirming that information.

#### Cons

(1) When entering a Journal Entry for payroll I have to manually type in the explanation for the G/L codes each time. (2) At the end of the year we like a simple printouts of our top 20 clients overall based on dollar amounts collected and then the same report by attorney. I was told there is not one.

#### Reasons for switching to Actionstep Legal Accounting

No upgrades and horrible customer service.
