I love the display setup and functionality of Summation.
Pros
Summation efficiently organizes document production in a way so that documents can be easily and quickly found, which is incredibly useful in a pinch! It also simplifies that bates labeling process by doing it for you upon uploading the documents.

It's a powerful tool - but the learning curve is steep
Pros
You can install on your own local servers and not be nickle & dimed for every GB of data you upload/export Tech support on this product is great
Cons
Currently only works in Internet Explorer (or in Chrome with the IE Extension installed) Most users (here at least) find it hard to learn how to maneuver through a case Administration can be a little taxing if case processing hangs up or gets stuck for some reason On that note, when a case is processing (OCR'ing, indexing etc) the program takes every bit of the CPU on that server. It will run at 97% until finished. There is no way to even throttle that to 80% or less.

I have consulted regarding this software.
Pros
Summation is classic software that many people in the industry are familiar with. That familiarity is a selling point.
Cons
Summation has gone through a lot of changes throughout the years as far as who owns the software to license it and it has not really kept up to speed with new technology and updating.

Keeps depositions organized.
Pros
Very useful when trying to review depositions. It's useful when you are searching for keywords and when you are working on deposition summaries.
Cons
It takes a little to learn how to navigate and how to use it. I am sure I have not explored all the awesome feautures it may have.

Summation has been a very cumbersome software to use it slow to process production sets
Pros
It is helpful to process emails and convert to PDF. If you don't have an PDF program like power PDF Nuance.
Cons
Processing is slow and errors a lot of the time. It usings silverlight in IE that that seems to hung up the loading of images.

Falling behind
While Summation may have been the dominant tool (whether as iBlaze or Pro) for law firms up to a few years ago, it has failed to keep pace with the rapid advance of e-discovery technologies and requirements.
