Pros/Cons
  • Pros

  • The price, for education, is great. Also, I am very impressed with the user interface and the ease of use.
  • It has a great ability to adapt to the tastes of people as you can customize the interface as well as its tools having the ability to customize the packages.
  • ILogic is amazing, it's like having a programming language built into Inventor, a powerful way to automate some parts of design and fabrication.
  • Cons

  • Premade projects are difficult to introduce to beginner students. Having to send all part files with assembly makes sharing assemblies between teacher and students very difficult.
  • Too many features, some of them are hard to find. With everything that this program can do I understand making every function noticable is impossible but I did google a few "How-Tos.
  • So if you insert 100 Identical components, it’s gonna take you forever to constrain them in your assembly. Also there is no assembly mirror that associative.

  • Pros

  • Great alternative to more expensive platforms and it is rewarding to be a part of a growing and responsive new software that shakes up the industry.
  • 3 week feature updates are great the the community support/ customer service is also excellent. Very impressive product.
  • The ability to design and produce complex 3D printed objects that fit together perfectly. Also the ability to visualize assemblies and make modifications before they are produced.
  • Cons

  • Also the downside to it being a cloud CAD product is the lack of offline caching which means models need to constantly be reloaded when experiencing poor connectivity issues.
  • These tools are very common in other industrial CAD softwares and I was very disappointed that Onshape did not provide these services.
  • The lack of private projects with free accounts is also a bummer, but not a major issue by any means.
