Calconic has provided a way for any entity to go to our website and determine, within reason, what their Canadian corporate tax rate should be, whether they are a small business or large. At a minimum it has eliminated 95% of the "it depends" questions. For our entity, we strive to add value to our whole service offering, and Calconic has allowed us to appear on lead search engine pages for our calculators, due to the value of their product and what we could build with it. Building the tool, and layering in the necessary formula was as easy as clicking a few buttons. The ability to test the calculator before launch was also seamless and avoided posting a finished product with errors. Cons: Once the time was taken to format the calculator, we realized that we needed to do the same for the mobile and tablet versions, and this process seemed unnecessarily repetitive. As our calculators are based on maintaining up to date tax rates, we need to update our content once or twice a year, and doing so for each version is a little tedious. Most calculation tools for online forms and web inaction are UGLY or just don't have enough feature sets, or are LOCKED into one type of calculation (say ROI). You might find many canned ROI calculators, but will not be able to stylize them or add any additional calculation logic. the module layout is EASY. I would say from a visual front-end CSS side it's as good as it gets. Cons: Some editing tools could be less granular. The CSS set-up for the item should be universal UNLESS set for each type of environment. Sure you will want to restyle certain things for mobile, tablets, computers, etc. But you probably don't want to change the font once chosen. In Calconic you will have to go to each and every instance and form element to change that font or set that font when adding a new element. Each element has to be set manually, almost no CSS is universal to the entire form once you customize it. Elements like form submissions are only available in the paid version. But I understand everyone needs to make a living and Calconic is seriously THE BEST calculation software online. My only MAJOR gripe with Calconic is the slow response for customer support. I have had to wait 4-5 days for a reply and it was not over the weekend. As a paying customer, this got better but was still over 48 hours. Between the ease-of-use (a clean, grid-based interface with "snapping" elements) and style customizations (fonts, colors, sizing for desktop, tablet, and mobile), I was able to create an embedded calculator that does EXACTLY what we needed, and it looks native to the site! Cons: Calconic is not as feature-rich as some other products, but-- for my use-- it was the perfect amount of depth. The software then performs the calculation based on the formula in the statutes. The user can update their inputs and see the resulting changes in real time. Awesome!! I know if it's possible in Calconic to have multiple calculations in different results that can then act like variables, but it felt less obvious to me than a more programitic format (like jscript) And I couldn't figure out how to have the output be test instead of numbers.
