Good Templates - Expensive

Ease-of-use

Functionality

Customer Support

Expensive but great templates. The templates can be a great selling point because there are so many out there (including myself) that are not creative and don't want to waste the time trying to be!

Pros

There are several templates available that make this program great. The editor feature is easy to use. Plus they have free trial that you can use which is awesome.

Cons

It is rather expensive and I have encountered many glitches through my use of the program. I prefer Mailchimp to this program any day. I have too many business contacts to be paying so much money for this program.

Constant Contact is a great option for small-to-midsize companies - the price is right for the level of functionality you get.

Pros

The WYSIWYG email editor is very easy to understand, as are the email lists. I haven't used Constant Contact as my database of record in the past, but it has allowed me to upload a bunch of different lists and keeping track of them is simple. The unsubscribe process is easy and clear, and because so many people use Constant Contact, there's a level of trust in their subscriptions.

Cons

This is a problem that's also present in other products that allow anyone to design, but often the features that the email editor allows you to put together actually don't look that good. Obviously, that's what you get in exchange for flexibility, but if you choose to use Constant Contact, you should have someone with a design background run through the email templates your team creates to ensure they make sense visually.

For the price, this program provides an excellent tool for organizations that focus on email marketing campaigns. If your needs are focused around email marketing, this is certainly the program to consider.

Pros

This software worked well for our email campaigns, but it lacked some features that were specific to the growing needs of our organization. We definitely would have stayed with this software if it would have met all the needs of our organization as we grew in size and function. The templates were easy to customize, and the emails always looked very professional. I also liked how the emails were tied into the registration page and the final reports.

Cons

This is not an easy program to learn how to use. It's easy to make mistakes, especially when learning the program. Thank goodness for the excellent tech support provided. Their skilled and friendly tech support makes up for the difficulty learning the software. Their tech support is the main reason I would encourage others to consider using this software because of the steep learning curve. They fixed many problems for me, and they were always eager to help!

Communicating with many; ISPs are so restricted. Having similarity in message appearance for branding. Having single place that email addresses are held to facilitate message distribution.

Pros

Constant Contact was so much easier to use than a mail merge because the platform allowed us to input all emails into one folder and populate successive emails with the addresses. We were also able to monitor our research participant engagement through tracking whether or not they opened emails, which we needed to be able to do.

Cons

For new clients starting with a small list, the "free trial" time is limited, and will start generating operating costs much sooner than using Mailchimp's unlimited free period that grows with the list size. Send times seem to be a bit longer than Mailchimp at times, and the UI can be a bit more laggy and have more frequent down-times.

An easy email marketing system is a highly beneficial thing for every marketer or business owner.
They do things right, their system is very easy to use, extremely well thought out.

Pros

Extremely easy to use, highly effective, it integrates with a lot of the systems that you normaly would use (facebook, shopify, google, outlook, office 365, etc)

Starting out is simple, you get a log period free trial, you could be completely setup in literally less than 10 minutes (if you know about email marketing).

This is by far one of the best options out there.

Cons

Pricing is always an issue with me, I always think about the little guy that is starting out, I think that the price could be cheaper or even have a free option.
But they do offer a 60 days free trial, which in principle could pay for the service.
You could setup your first affiliate or sales campaign, have people sign up, have people buy, and you could make the comission even before you have to pay your first payment in Constant Contact.

It gets the job done and has great tracking options. It also gives you insight and suggestions as to what you could be doing to improve your campaigns.

Pros

I do like the update they did to the campaign editor. Those improvements were much needed, but they still have more things they could improve.

Cons

Their customer service is not very good. Their solutions that they offer in their forums often aren't sufficient enough. The new campaign editor also doesn't have some of the same tracking options as the old one did, for some reason.

Constant Contact let's users do simple email marketing, with a multitude of features most will never use. Their experience is greater than most programs because they've been around for a long time. Their analytics are top-notch, and they've updated their template library to be up-to-par with most alternatives.

Cons

However, Constant Contact is simply not as user-friendly as its counterparts. The email editor itself is relatively hard to use, and at times the analytics can be hard to decipher. Arguably another negative is the sheer complexity of the special features Constant Contact offers.

Overall, easy to use. Can be more costly compared to others but this would depend on how much you email.

Pros

The biggest pro is constant contact is integrated with most other softwares to connect via api which saves time having to export lists and upload into constant contact.

Cons

Although you can upload custom html you can not create a custom template - that's only available if you pay them additional money. Also, they don't offer any "free" options like their competitors and everything is monthly subscription based on list size. This can get expensive for a small business.

Excellent program, but due to its complexity, it lagged behind its competition. However, it is still a very good alternative to send email marketing reliably and efficiently.

Pros

For many years this was the reference for sending email marketing campaigns in our company. This changed with the arrival of Mailchimp; however, even today it is still a good alternative.

Cons

We stopped using it because at the design level it had lagged compared to the new alternatives. After that they made several updates to improve it; however, it remained complicated to use.

I think they should improve in a more intuitive interface and not take so many steps to schedule a campaign.
