Dotmailer is a cloud-based marketing automation solution with email marketing as its core feature. It caters to small, midsize and large enterprises. Primary features include lead nurturing, multichannel marketing, automatic email responders, email send time optimization and campaign management.

Other features include data and insights that allows users to segment customers, score them, collect preferences, personalise email marketing content based on their previous orders and manage contact data. The personalised marketing allows users to send out dynamic content emails.

The reporting and analytics features provides real-time results of the campaigns and marketing emails. This includes contact level reporting that gives details on behavior and engagement levels of customers on marketing emails and automation programs. It offers integration with Magneto, Shopify, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Commerce Flow, Zapier, WooCommerce, Shopware and others.

Support is offered via email and over the phone. Other help options include knowledge base, resource library and training.

To flush your business’s jorum with great opportunities

Pros

The features presented by Maropost are already advantages in their own nature. We can rarely find something similar in the alternative solutions. Marketing automation is something incredible. Its flows allow building multiple scenarios which would be equally suitable to reach the customer’s needs and wishes. Moreover, the user interface, namely, its simplicity of operation, makes all the flows hugely more successful than if we were to refer to guides in order to check what section is responsible for.

Cons

It is hard to evaluate as a purely positive or negative feature that a solution doesn’t have any drawbacks. In our experience, we have tested some such rare solutions which seem to be thought-out for many years to come. But it is even more insolent if the service has only one or two small defects. It doesn’t hurt too much but feels like soreness of the mouth.

Dotmailer is what you need

I'm a visual designer, and I use it almost all the time. Provide some templates, ​and it is easy to edit.

Pros

It has good articles and blogs where I can learn new stuff. The​ customer service is excellent​.

Cons

It takes​ a while to understand the options to create the email.

Lots of capabilities but customer support is awful

So far dotmailer has not been any better than mailchimp. It is more expensive, so it should be better, but it has been so difficult to work with. We haven't been able to get into the capabilities it has above MailChimp becuase we've had to focus all of our time on solving issues, so we can't get to the cool stuff yet.

Pros

The segmentation is great. The emails look very professional. It is relatively easy to create your own email, but adding in dynamic content is difficult. It doesn't work well with our magento site. The set up was way more difficult than it should have been.

Dotmailer does a great job!

I use Dotmailer to stay in contact with our clients current and new. I love using the automation feature to get our surveys out with out several steps.

Pros

The ease of use if what I like the most about the software. I can build a campiagn quickly and easily.

Cons

I would like it if the learning curve for the automation was a bit smaller. It took me awhile to get the hang of how the design feature works.

a breath of fresh air

The main issue was the platform itself. We used to run our emails using an outdated email platform (crowd goes "how outdated is it?") ... So outdated that the only way it could run successfully was on classic Internet Explorer with ActiveX controls enabled. Meaning whenever had to be sent out, you will have to fire up a Windows 7 virtual machine that was solely used, to send out marketing emails. And in days when we were in a pinch, and something had to go out immediately, and there was not time to fire up the VM… We had to code the email on sublime text, then copy/paste onto the editor itself… Which was quite laborious. Let's just say dotmailer solved the usability issue very well

Pros

Mostly it's about customer service. Dotmailer has always met us halfway in being communicative and thorough with us when it comes to providing the solutions to our requests and helping us getting acclimated to the features. It's this kind of tailor-made customer service, that has allowed us to be able to become more acclimated with the system that has allowed us to reach to our constituents and corporate partners with some of the most professional and well-thought marketing campaigns I've seen in years. I also want to give a special tip of the hat to support team from dotmailer.

Cons

That we did not discover the service sooner :)

Powerful with Some Flaws

dotmailer is a great platform that allows for some powerful means of mass messaging/emailing. It took my company quite some time to get onboarded because of the degree of difficulty in setting up the automated campaigns. It would be highly recommended if the interface was cleaned up a bit and the overall UX was better.

Pros

dotmailer has the ability to do most of what you will need out of a marketing automation platform. It can send automated campaigns via email, SMS message and even Facebook Messenger. Once the programs are up and running it is a powerful tool in a company's marketing mix.

Cons

There are two areas that need some improvement. The first is the overall UX. The interface is clunky and sometimes difficult to navigate. Once a user gets a feel for it things get easier, but anytime there's a new functionality I need to explore it takes some time to get the proper feel for it.

Good email marketing platform for a reasonable price

Dotmailer helped us send much more effective marketing campaign emails. Audience segmentation is easier than before. We're now sending personalized triggered campaigns to customers. Our transactional emails are now templated and much easier to update. Emails view better on mobile devices. Company was overall pleasant to work with through onboarding process.

Pros

Full-featured email platform at a cost lower than most competitors.

UI is straightforward and functional, relatively fast. I don't have much trouble finding what I'm looking for.

Onboarding, knowledge base, and technical support meant I learned the platform pretty quickly. Technical support has always replied quickly and is usually helpful.

Program builder for triggered emails is easy to use, and powerful.

Segmentation tool works well.

Able to template and send all our transactional emails at no additional cost.

Cons

Reporting could be improved. We can't figure out how to link to our Google Analytics account.

Easyeditor for emails is OK. Would prefer something more robust with more even more features.

Sometimes pages load slow through the UI.

This is a great application for building e-mails. It's so easy to drag and drop in codes and attachments. The preview feature is also amazing. I love knowing what my customers will see. That's a huge plus to getting their attention and looking professional also. The e-mail automation programs are a life-saver! I could go on for days!

We had a lot of customer service issues with people not getting their transactional emails to be informed we had received the order. We did send them, but they kept ending up in junk. Dotmailer severely reduces these issues, meaning our Customer Service Director is a lot happier.

That the from email address looks spammy. i.e Cremocompany@d2-dotmailer.com for example.

The perfect email marketing platform

We're trying to take our email program to the next level while improving usability for staff. I love the combination of a great interface for building campaigns along with robust automation and behavioral marketing tools.

Pros

Ease of use, good onboarding, integration of SMS, landing pages, forms and surveys

Cons

So far, there are very few cons. More templates would be great as the ability to edit custom templates without the markup changing in such a way that mobile is compromised.

Dot Mailer Review

We had many billing errors with them. Decided to just cancel after contract was up.

Pros

The targeting features were what attracted me to the software.

Cons

After I signed up, they told me that I had to pay an extra data storage fee which was just as much as my subscription.
