It's very interesting to understand why some visitors leave the site without making a purchase - there is no need for a cookie! But there's a gap between the brand they're projecting and the customer experience they're delivering. And this wasn't a complex data problem our systems are straightforward. What was more disappointing than the failure itself was the lack of effort in trying to fix it. Our demand gen, operations, and data teams made themselves fully available. Even with that level of cooperation on our end, HockeyStack couldn't answer basic questions or provide clear direction on next steps. For a platform at this price point, that's not acceptable. Onboarding was lengthy and complicated which would be fine if it led somewhere. It didn't. With 90% of touch points requiring manual mapping, we were essentially building the integration ourselves. The onboarding process became a sunk cost. The support structure is visibly strained. To start, you simply need to add a line of code to your website and the code itself is only a few kilobytes in size. What is especially good about this tool is that is cookieless and has a good potential in light of the future cookieless tracking that is on the agenda nowadays. Thanks to this software users can track every step of the funnel their website visitors make and know where exactly they fall off. You can use various tracking tags like browsers, countries, devices, language and so on. This tool does not provide session recordings or heatmaps as the founders claim they do not lead to actionable insights. #### Cons I don't see cons as the product is still under development and they constantly add new features and take their users' feedback into account. It would be great to see heatmaps and sessions recording as well, as they are open-source and affordable solutions to have them on board so it becomes an all-in-one solution for marketers and web designers. Smart insights. It’s really one of a kind and the insights they give you is really, really good. eg: I can filter people who spent more than 3 mins on my website and checked out our silicone bibs. It works completely without setting cookies. So I don't need to get extra consent from visitors, nor do I lose any statistics. The setup is very easy and in no time the tracking code is integrated on the own website. #### Cons The dashboard should urgently be made mobile responsive, also a mobile app would be desirable. Goal tracking did not work yet in my case. We are one of the few WordPress hosting companies that do not only promise lightning-fast WordPress hosting but also practically demonstrate it by hosting our site on the same servers as our customers and openly displaying our site speed and letting the users test it. Here is how this tool solves my problems. Anyone who is a WordPress speed enthusiast would understand that other than being extremely complex, GA code can slows down the load time of the site thus affecting the User Experience. In order to find a solution to this, I was looking at lightweight GA alternatives. I came across multiple tools like Fathom, Splitbee and few others. All of them were impressive in the fact that they simplified GA reporting but they lacked one key element. The user interaction and journey mapping in order to assess how your users act on your page. Now for this purpose, you would probably need something like Hotjar. This means another subscription along with another external request which may slow down your site. Lo and behold. Here comes Hockey Stack. Not only is this tool a lightweight simplified analytics alternative to GA but it is a GENIUS combination of Fathom/Splitbee etc and hotjar. The user journey tracking was exactly what their competitors were lacking and hockey stack has nailed this feature. #### Cons No Cons whatsoever. Any legitimate marketer will tell you that this is not an effective strategy. Linking HockeyStack with my website was incredibly easy (I have a WordPress site). Now, I can see my website's sessions, users, pageviews, bounce rates, etc. all in one simple dashboard. #### Cons I have no complaints about HockeyStack. Perhaps I will realize some possible improvements as I use it more. We are moving from an existing application to a new one build from scratch. But we have poor understanding how the current one is being used. It has been developed by a third party, without documentation. And the roles under which the users are using it is diverse. It adds incredible value overall. It's fast. It's non-obtrusive. It's spot on, on what we need. #### Cons The name Hockeystack is broken. Happily the software is not. I know it's a pun, but even then they could have thought beyond the pun and come up with something even more clever. The look and feel in the UI looks as amateur and minimalist. I assume this as being done on purpose. However, this might come across as not complete or buggy. It's all about perception, I know. You can see the steps each visitor takes on your site without needing to set up each action manually like you would for Google Analytics. #### Cons There’s some limitations for what you can set as a goal. For example, as of this review, you’re unable to set a URL click as a goal. I like the fact that I can see exactly where my traffic is coming from. For example, I would like to see what specific pages and site are driving traffic.
