Website Localization with Ease

The development effort involved with translating a platform of our size would have been cumbersome - both in the initial implementation, as well as in ongoing support. With Localize, we were able to support localization of our platform with less than a month of development effort. With the support of localization, we are now able to reach and appeal to a broader audience.

PROS

Localize has an easy to use interface and has enabled our team to translate our platform with minimal development or administrative effort.

CONS

The only feature that caused any (very minimal) trouble for our team is the default to enable automatic archiving. We have an introductory assessment that is only periodically revisited, so the phrases were quickly moved to the archive and therefore did not show as immediately translated upon the next identification. Disabling the automatic archiving resolved this for us.

Good for static sites

PROS

Good for static website translation, allows us to work in 3 languages.

CONS

Not great for changing platforms or non-static sites. Best for static marketing sites.

Great tool to localize your websites

We needed to localize several webapps across multiple teams in very short time frame. We could not have achieved the results without this tool. The translators are happy to use the tool and required minimum guidance. Developers adapted to the new tool quickly.

PROS

LocalizeJs (LJS) was very easy and fast to set-up and start showing results in target language. All the phrases/strings from your apps go to the same tool and are easy to see and manage. The tech support/help is very responsive and helpful to deal with all kinds of problems you might have.

CONS

Since LJS pushes all the strings from your Webapps to their tool, it is little bit tedious to find all the data that must not be send to the tool, e.g. confidential user information etc. You still have to find a way to localize possible 3rd party components on your Webapp, because at least we were not able to translate them properly with LJS. The tool is not geared towards deployment flow, where you have DEV, QA, Staging and Production environments and you have to move phrases/strings between different environments.

Quick Site Translations - Little Technical Heavy Lifting

PROS

The best thing about Localize is that there's little to no tech required to get a site translated into another language whereas other solutions in this space require deeper integration and custom code to translate text strings on a webpage.

CONS

While there's little technical implementation, it means there's some sacrifices you have to make from a consumer experience standpoint. More specifically, because this is a java script solution, the page does render as it would normally for a quick moment and then the translations start appearing. Depending on how quickly the JS loads, it might be noticeable to the user that we're swapping around content.

There's no reason to not support multiple languages now

We have interviewed people in their native languages for blog posts. Being able to accurately translate these posts has allowed us to engage with their own following and cross-promote our brands a lot more effectively. We can translate the most important parts of our website as needed based on our site data such as which country people are accessing it from. It's demand-driven and very cost-effective.

PROS

The ability to automatically translate text instantly, refine it or override it yourself, or upgrade the machine translating to business quality language in such a simple interface is invaluable to us as we try to grow internationally. We've found Localize to be really flexible in terms of how we integrate with our website and how we use it amongst our staff.

CONS

We haven't hit any issues so far and implementation was well documented.

Easy human translation for international wordpress website

Good! Nice and easy to get my website translated into multiple languages via a human being, utilising the wordpress CMS.

PROS

We needed to professionally translate our microsite into multiple languages to suit our global audience. Localise ticked all the boxes, especially with the human translation offering and the WP integration.

CONS

he lingo used. As a new user and someone who uses SaaS apps all the time, the word 'Phrases' didn't resonate with me and felt like it over complicated a very straight forward process: I want to translate my whole website into x language. There is also the added complication of having to buy credits too, but thats no biggy. I logged a couple tickets in the 'translate my website via a human' process in the end. It shouldn't be this jagged.

Good choice for localization

Although we did not end up working with Localize, I believe it is a good solution for SaaS localization.

PROS

- Smooth processes with translators, enabling fast localization also when performing product updates - Easy to use interface which helped us to get up to speed quickly - Little to no tech requirements, very flexible for different platforms

CONS

- While translation quality was good, one other solution we trialed took the context of our software more into consideration and hence offered a slighly better quality of translations.

Simple translation services

Localization of our website is much faster and less expensive than contracting with most translation services. Instead of waiting for major content updates, we can get translations almost instantly.

PROS

It's very easy to keep translations up-to-date on our website and we don't need to have multiple copies of each page to store translated content.

CONS

The service isn't fully automated, so we still have to manually approve phrases for translation every few days.

Easy to setup, easy to use and translates with a high accuracy.

PROS

The API and documentation is very easy to use. We were able to get it set up quickly. Translations are pretty accurate and we are able to have people go in and update strings with no problems.

CONS

When you need to expand to offer more languages the pricing can get pretty expensive.

I really like the easy of use to translate and the admin platform. They've made tremendous updates during the years I've used the program and appreciate how on top of things their customer service team is

Honestly, not too many cons. Sometimes the translations aren't quite right and I'd love to have more languages added without additional costs, but that'd be going above and beyond.

Easy to use translation platform

PROS

Translations are implemented right away on our webpage after they have been proofread from our end. For a translator, proofreading is very easy and you can approve a machine-generated translation or improve it with a simple click. Customer support is doing a great job in educating us on how to best use the platform and navigate through it to have the best experience for our specific needs.

CONS

I would like to be able to simultaneously see where the line I am translating is located on our webpage. The context is important for the correct translation, so seeing where the word is located on our webpage will be very useful.

excellent tool for locating websites and finding new markets

It is a very important tool for the growth of my business.

it loses integration speed on non-static platforms or sites and has no integration flow when I need to move phrases and strings between different environments like DEV and QA.

Fantastically easy to use, with brilliant support

PROS

The software is easy to deploy, and language switching is speedy and effortless. The support team are also incredible - talented, fast, and know what they're doing! I was really surprised at how much customisability there was, so that we can stop phrases being digested at any time, as well as selecting what we would like translated (and into what language) and what we would prefer to leave as-is. The language editing interfaces are fast and functional, whether you want to edit translations in-situ or in a list. It's also really handy that automatic translation is an option, to get things rolled out fast!

CONS

I didn't like that I kept mistyping the web address. I.e. I don't have much to complain about!

Localize works for us!

PROS

We've been using Localize since 2015. Localize has provided us with easy to manage website translations. We're able to provide access to our internal translators who log in and see the wording required for translation. It's very simple and runs in the background. New words are automatically uploaded into Localize

CONS

Initially it took a while to translate due to the amount of words but this was as expected and over time this has become easier. It requires a developer to integrate but this was expected. Tagging phrases that didn't need translating took a while.

Definitely eases development!

As a developer, you just write everything in English and the rest is handled by the marketing guys, which is pretty cool.

CONS

There are some smaller bugs now and then, but nothing too bad

Simple and Powerful

Localize is exactly what you would hope to experience from a company—powerful services, easy to set up, and up-and-running quickly. Saved an enormous amount of time and potential stress with their solution.

PROS

I love how quickly you can get Localize up and running. I was able to get it implemented on a client's site within minutes. Although I initially felt overwhelmed about this client request, Localize solved my problem with their amazing solution.

CONS

Nothing—wish we had found the service sooner.

Best-in-class product but paired with a boxy pricing structure

PROS

Downright easiest and most efficient way to translate a website into multiple languages.

CONS

The several layers of limits within the pricing structure is unfortunate, from limits on page views to machine translations to collaborators.

Really there's not much to not like, I can't think of anything!

I could not continue the usage of Localize since the price issue.

It provides multiple languages to choose from.

CONS

The price is high. The code snippet decrease speed and load time on the website especially that there are many code snippets to be added from other service providers.
