Reliable and hassle-free email delivery
We switched over to Postmark from a competitor when we started to have significant email delivery problems. The transition went very smooth since they had a guide on exactly how to transfer from our prior service and what the differences are. It was also easy to update our code to use their new API. Everything has been rock solid so far.
PROSPostmark has very helpful documentation to explain all their services and it's easy to get started with their guides that help you transfer over from other popular mail services. Their API is well explained and easy to use. Their email delivery is the best I've ever found so far in the industry. I haven't needed to use their customer support much, but when I did they were fairly quick to respond. I like how they include a long email transaction history whereas some competitors only give you 3 days or charge you extra.
CONSThey are not as inexpensive as some others in the industry, but I think their reliability and feature set makes up for the additional cost.
Reason for choosing Postmark
Reputation of email delivery, features, recommendation from other developers
Reasons for switching to Postmark
Was experiencing email delivery problems to Microsoft email servers with Sendgrid.

Simple but effective email client
Postmark has improved both the look and deliverability of transactional emails in my business, and it's also simplified our email workflows and made it easier for us to analyse and resolve any issues.
PROSIt's really easy to build, sort, and manage your emails in Postmark. You can sort your emails into different servers, each one of which can be split into streams: broadcast and transactional are the main two, which allow you to find specific types of emails easily. Open and link tracking can also be switched on by server, so you have more control over what data you're collecting which helps with GDPR compliance. You can click into each email to see the email body itself and copy any links that have been generated. I can share my account securely with other email addresses, allowing different people within my business to review and have access to our email tools. The API is very easy to understand, allowing you to connect Postmark to other tools easily. There are so many benefits to Postmark!
CONSThe documentation feels a little fragmented - some things are in the official API documentation, while other things missing from the official documentation are included in blog posts or other posts within the Support Center. It would be great if they could all be in one place!
Reasons for switching to Postmark
SendGrid's functionality was slow and confusing, but most importantly, their customer support failed to support when emails were failing to deliver to all suppliers. I was told this was an issue with their own shared IP addresses that they'd placed my email services on, but that I simply had to wait until I was moved to another IP address and that none of my emails would land in inboxes until that was fixed. This caused untold damage to my business and showed they weren't really that bothered about maintaining the minimum functionality of their product.

Gets the job done
1: The ability to see overall data, or to refine down to just one email 2: The ability to create customized tags to filter through your thousands of emails 3: The ability to open and download a sent email into a zipfile.
CONS1: If an email hard bounces it will deactivate all other emails being sent to this address, and there is no easy way to receive alerts on that. 2: The system bases the sending of emails not in the time zone the user received it.
Vendor Response
Thanks, Ebona. With regards to bounces, deactivating delivery to that address is key to ensuring great delivery. Repeated sends to an invalid address is a signal that the sender could be spamming, and it could hurt overall delivery. For alerts, we recently launched a Slack bot that can send you bounce notifications. https://github.com/wildbit/pm-slack-app We also just released Rebound, a snippet that you can customize and include in your application to proactively help customers handle bounce issues. https://postmarkapp.com/rebound We're exploring other options to make this easier, but in general, we encourage bounce integration within your application to proactively help users fix delivery issues. https://postmarkapp.com/developer/webhooks/bounce-webhook On the second issue, we use UTC in the activity feed for consistency. With recipients in different time zones, it would be difficult to have a chronologic activity stream. I'll share this with the team, though.

Our goto 3rd party SMTP provider
Pricing was a concern at first but well... If we have to pay for a 3rd party provider to deliver our e-mails, we'd rather spend a bit more and have e-mails inboxed rather than discarded or sent to spam. Plus, if you run in any issue, Postmark support usually answers warmly under 24 hours... where the competition usually takes either forever or/and a very cold and super technical approach making you feel like an idiot.
PROSE-mailing seems simple on the surface. But when it comes to deliverability, it's another story... The support at postmark is super friendly, fast and helpful. And that's well worth the price you pay. The deliverability is overall better than most providers and far superior to any shared host we tried. Their approach to separate marketing and transactional email flows is smart in that matter. You can connect your email flow either through their API... or the old school SMTP, which enables you to send through any software on the market that supports an external integration.
CONSHonestly, nothing. At some point, they added marketing emails in addition to their core service which is transactional emails. I was a bit frustrated : most SMTP integrations wouldn't work with their initial implementation of marketing emails, as it required to send custom headers along the e-mail. But they took the feedback and a few months later, a workaround was implemented. I can say that this company really has customer satisfaction at heart.
Reason for choosing Postmark
We tried 4 of them on the market (including postmark) and ended up with Postmark. Postmark ranked the highest in our benchmark when it came to deliverability, ease of implementation, support speed & quality (support really cares about their customers' success).
Reasons for switching to Postmark
Our customers noticed that our transactional e-mails were getting more and more in spam with our regular shared hosting SMTPs. So we went looking for a 3rd party SMTP to deliver our emails.
Vendor Response
Thanks for such a lovely review, Geoffrey. You made our support team's day with your kind comments. We're glad to have you onboard.

It just works
We primarily use Postmark to send out login information, alerts, notifications, and reports from our applications. We do not send a ton of emails out monthly, but we do send thousands a month. If they don't reach our client, that is bad for us. We were able to use industry standard packages to send through Postmark, so it was not difficult to integrate into our applications. We have a couple of cloud applications that we built from the ground up. We tried SendGrid and Mailgun and why both worked, it was more complex and really did not help if messages did not go through. With Postmark it is very quick to see what happened and why.
PROSIn-depth tracking allows me to see why something might have not worked Never gets blacklisted Walks you through the setup Easy to integrate for both simple and complex use
CONSCost is a little higher than others, but not too much.
Reason for choosing Postmark
It just works and it works well. Support has been there, when needed. Even during testing we were able to get support quickly and help resolve any issues we had.
Reasons for switching to Postmark
Had too many issues with SendGrid and could not easily get help to correct them. Spent too much trying to fix something, versus working on our own products.
