Just What I Need To Manage My Practice

I think that Massagebook really - and quite brilliantly - crosses the chasm that is often never, truly crossed by many companies out there: they connect the ever-ellusive Benefits of [a] Service with its Features. They are massage therapy practitioner-centric - we are their Clients (as well as their Customers) - delivering functional, beautiful, intuitive, and comprehensive services that are needed and desired most by massage therapy practitioners. I stay because I feel like they have and continue to develop the software Just For Me. I like that :D

PROS

Massagebook is a complete software solution for my sole-proprietorship - detailed reports and appropriate and sane-levels of engagement with my clients are both built into Massagebook, two very important aspects of running my business. Their mobile-accessibility - for both business-owner and its customers - is impeccable. The marketing and promotional components are integrated very well into the CMS function. Their payment portal only gets better and better - rates are fair, Referral Fees (from MB-domain-originated promotion, of which I have garnered several New customers) are nominal. Their business Goals of making things "easy" is apparent in their Customer Service: knowledgeable, persistent, easily- and readily-accessible, and in the new Features they roll out on a regular basis. The cost for their service is definitely worth paying - basically: it pays for itself in the time & money it saves me doing it "the old way". I feel like everyone at Massagebook cares about the success of my massage therapy practice - from the regular emails from rep and the Massagebook Team to their blogs about How To maximize the use and benefits of the software to make my practice management Better, I learn more and more not only How to use the software, but also Why. They've really nailed down Delivering Value, and I am a loyal customer because I know they're interaction with me as a customer helps me be a better massage therapist AND businessperson.

CONS

As with most software subscriptions out there, there are features that I could use more of in my practice - but Massagebook is ALWAYS working to make the current ones Better and develop new ones for the benefit of the majority of its users. Over the 5 years I've been with Massagebook, they always seem to come through, albeit at the cost of time. I will always wish for a Perfect Product, and the Massagebook Team has and will always rise to the challenge by hearing my suggestions and requests and moving toward a more-efficient and easy software to use.

I love massagebook

I love massage book every time i call in for assistance they go above and beyond to help me and that means a lot to me when you are trying to learn how to run the admin side to your business. And just overall helps to make your business a successful one so thank you!!!

PROS

I like the fact that it is user friendly. There are a few features that i would love to be updated on the site such as the mobile app where i can access my services instead of having to hop on my desktop to do it. Other than that i am so thankful for this software because as a business owner I don’t need something that is difficult to navigate. I want to be able to focus on the gift and talent that i have as a massage therapist and not have to worry about something going wrong on the admin side since i am currently the only one working my business right now.

CONS

I would like to access my service menu on my mobile app instead of going to the desktop to do it.

Because it integrated into this software and i still have the ability to be able to take my payments through square.

Massagebook Experience

PROS

Massagebook is a great intro program for users starting to be self-employed. It is a very simple layout and easy to understand how to use.

CONS

Massagebook has very limited options for different practioners (eg. osteopath, kinesiologist)The SOAP notes format are low quality and non-customizable, you could not make your own intake forms, support rarely assisted me with any issue when I had one. Would not recommend to anyone except a beginner in their industry.

Much better product and had solutions to all the issues I had with massagebook.

Love Massage Book!

I had an awful product before MassageBook. They literally just stopped one day, and you couldn’t get ahold of them at all. I switched to MassageBook. It is very reliable, professional, and easy to use!! Won’t go anywhere else!!

Awesome Customer Service

I am very satisfied so far with Massage Book. If I have problems, they are always very helpful and willing to get me straightened out

I have been with Massage Book a short time, so I am still in the learning curve but every time I have called to get help, the service has been great. I am very impatient with computers and every one of the employees there take the time to explain and walk me through the process to complete whatever I am trying to do. I love how it gives you the total of how many massages you have for the week. I would suggest having a report for a breakdown of 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 2 hours or 30 minutes

CONS

I would like for the app to default to the current day when opening up the app. Have more options for pictures to pick from when sending out campaigns. I hate that they do not have customer service on the weekends.

A lot of the places only had email customer service or AI which was a total waste of time and energy.

MassageBook does not keep cards on file

Definitely filled with useful features for a reasonable price but is missing a core component of what I need to sustain my business.I also found the overall look and feel to be less clean + professional as other softwares I've tried.

CONS

NO option for holding a card on file for no-show protection. The best you can do is have someone prepay for their appointment. Despite having many other great features, they are lacking in this one VERY important area.

Overall Good Booking System

It was easy to set up, and its easy to use. I really like how helpful customer service is.

CONS

Customers cant select multiple serives for one appointment. The Square card readers do not work with Massage Book from your laptop. I had to purchase two subscriptions because I have two office locations.

Business Management tool

Overall experience with MassageBook - excellent!

What I like most about this software: Online booking, ease of scheduling, SOAP Notes available, accounting, text and email reminders for my clients, intake form available online for clients. I have been using Massagebook almost as long as they have been in business and I have seen how they are constantly making improvements and their desire to aide in building Massage business' for the small business owners who are growing their massage practice. User friendly, help features available to navigate the MassageBook software or quick response time to answering questions, and always making improvements.

CONS

Recently MassageBook changed the intake form to include Non-binary as a sex choice without notification. This does NOT fit my business model! I sought out customer service regarding this matter recently to ask that either they remove the choice of sex all together or remove non-binary option; the response was non-committal regarding that issue but only stated that they are currently working on a customized intake feature for the business owner. But not that the business owner will be able to customize that sex choice feature. I am still considering whether or not I want to cancel my MassageBook subscription over this issue since as up until now I have found MassageBook so user friendly. I am waiting to see if this will be addressed in the near future. It will be difficult to change back to Full Slate if non-binary is still on the client intake form but it is that important to me if changes are not made.

I switched since the features provided by MassageBook are so much more vast and conducive to building and maintaining my business; providing great marketing tools, accounting tools, SOAP notes and internet visibility, (scheduling is a breeze). My clients like it and so do I. This is my only website now as I found that I no longer need my own personal website anymore as a tool to direct clients to an online scheduling option.

This is more software than most need, at a price you can't resist.

This software has helped me turn my 8-9 hour days into literally 5-6 hour days, simply from the automation of the processes we usually go through as massage therapists. It would take a very egregious error to make me give this software up for any others.

PROS

The easiest way to track, account for, review, and update all clients & data in our database. I can use this software as a FULL suite of accounting, scheduling, and even a review-system for clients to respond to how well you are doing as a massage studio!

CONS

The only issue we've had thus far is simply signing back in, about the least worrisome thing possible. We have our accounts logged into several devices, so sometimes we get a login-request. No big deal.

The Best Out There That I Know Of

Excellent! Their strong points more than make up for their weak ones and hopefully the weak ones will get fixed soon.

PROS

I have been using Massagenbook now for over two years and I love it! There are so many features and the price is almost too good to be true. It is easy to use, the customer support is great and it has almost all of the major features that I want. I would recommend it to anyone.

CONS

I don't like that when a customer types in their address, that it doesn't allow them to type it in directly but makes them chose from a dropdown menu of preselected addresses. I have had many of my clients complain about this. I really wish that they would allow clients to manually type in their addresses and the sooner that they can do that, the better.

Beyond expectations

Really great responsive customer support, generous trial period to get used to the systems, easy to move over from a different scheduling system, overall makes my business more professional and easier to run

Massage book exceeded my expectations of a massage specific software. My favorite features are the electronic intake forms and Soap charting, customizable email marketing and solid built-in accounting reports

CONS

There are some size restrictions on the type of image you can upload to marketing. I wasn't sure at first that I wanted a separate website than the one I already have built on wordpress. This seemed to be an automatic feature on massagebook. Its the landing page that people find you at when searching the directory. But now, I like having that extra website

Customer Management and Scheduling Software

Overall is been okay and better than others many ways but sometimes the customer service reps. get very defensive when you site a flaw or even ask a legit question about something they could do better.

PROS

The best parts of this software is it’s potential. This software could potentially check off all of the boxes a spa or wellness practice could want if only they were all working properly.

CONS

The most frustrating aspect of this software is that the developers have created features that are great and needed, but don’t allow them to work properly. It’s like the company knows what you need, has created the platform and allows you to see it but not be able to fully execute it. Talk to text voice recording for SOAP notes is one example. The option is there, the button and links are hot and active, but you are sorely disappointed to find out that after you press record, spend the time to give dictation, see that your text has been recorded only to press save and that feature doesn’t work!

MassageBook offered a good discount when we first signed up and is always adding valuable new features. The owner seem like a good guy who really tries to personalize your experience with his company. He definitely knows what is needed for his target market. Features and the promise of new features at a fair price point is why we chose Massagebook but we still keep our other software for an important feature they don’t have.

The best money can purchase for all the great features and qualiaty

Love them. they usually answer quickly and are always polite and make every attempt to resolve your issue(s). And they almost always do. When they don't it is only because the software at the time doesn't have the capacity to do what you are wanting. Basically what I mentioned above.

PROS

The fact that it doesn't almost anything anyone could want regardless of the size of the business and that it is relatively inexpensive so that new and smaller businesses can get the same great features as more expensive brands of scheduling/business software. It covers almost all the aspects of running the business not just scheduling.

CONS

/wekll my business model/set up is different from many in that I have several massage therapists that rent space with me, but we band together under one name and do many off-site functions together. We will often merge together for various specials. We slo share our rooms with other part-time therapists. So we use the schedular so people know when each of the rooms is in use and to offer specials together. However, it is problematic in that only one person's bank account can be set up. It would be nicer if all of us could have our own accounts in there and use the CC features. I have worked around that by giving them room rent credit or cash them out when one of their clients uses their credit card online. Another issue I keep running into is the ability to put specials on the scheduler. There is an option for that but not if you want to give a general $10 off any service or $20% off any service. If you want to do that you have to list every service you provide and for me that is a lot of services.

Amazing, easy to use product that does everything my practice needs.

My practice has never been easier to manage and I've never been busier. The MassageBook directory sends me a couple of new clients each month. That and having emails go out to clients that heaven't been in to see me in a while keep me busy and not needing to do much marketing.

PROS

After looking at and trying two other scheduling solutions, (Full Slate/Artichoke) an MT friend suggested I look at MassageBook. This software is the JAM. :-) It does everything I need it to and I found it really easy to understand. Everything else I've seen or used was missing something and I had to find yet *another* solution to get everything I needed working. (Like email campaigns or Gift Certificates) I now open exactly ONE piece of software to run my practice each day. When I'm on the go or do an occasional outcall, I use the mobile app to manage my schedule or check a client out. Even my personal Google calendar is displayed on my MassageBook schedule and make sure I don't create any conflicts. Can't say how many times this has saved my butt. I use pretty much all the features - really good SOAP notes I can draw on, full client records on everything, email campaigns, and automated emails, reminders, Gift Certificates, the website and of course the scheduling. It's seriously like I have a full time assistant that I pay $30 a month for. I've trained about 90% of my clients to book online now - and they absolutely love it. I've noticed more of them are coming in more regularly and are booking their appointments online at night. Good stuff. Support is absolutely awesome. I've even gotten responses back over the weekend. Love that I can kick off a live chat from right within the software if I have any questions. So happy!

CONS

It seems like they're working on adding features all the time. They update the software every couple of weeks. Things like having a shared account for two people with the same email address was on my wish list for a while, but that came out in the Spring, so I'm currently out of things I wish they'd add. Except for insurance billing. That would be the icing on the cake...

I love the user friendliness and professional aspects of this system! From scheduling with ease, to sending advance intake forms - I have 2 types: massage & facial forms, which saves more time, to multiple reminders being sent, to creating group newsletters, to the auto reviews - I have 165 5 star reviews that I can embed / link into my other website as well! This system has been a game changer for my business that I’ve been operating successfully for the past 23 years! Oh yeah- My floor doesn’t have as much eraser shavings since I started this system and the only appt. mistakes have been by the user. I was hesitant to use this system since I wasn’t technology savvy, but once I started there was no going back to the old way!

CONS

I love everything about this system and a few features that were missing have been added. For instance I wanted to add a separate from to accommodate my esthetician practice and they created a new form that specifically will be sent when I book that appt. I do love how I can select my workload and the system warns me that I’m exceeding my hours and that I can still override that warning. At this point I would say it could be cool to have a little weekly personal rating as I used to do that in my hand written schedule: felt great, my arms wore sore, I got a headache, my energy was on fire, my energy was low/ I’m tired! Etc.

Reasons for switching to MassageBook

While I read my ABMP magazine I kept noticing the system and it was a year for free so I gave it a shot! The best choice I could have made for my business!

Pretty Great Considering I’m not super Tech Savvy & it helps me make a lot of money

It’s incredibly efficient & the staff, [sensitive content hidden] are just amazing & super helpful. They stay with you until the problem is solved I that makes all the difference in the world!

PROS

Scheduling, reminders, CRM, option to turn marketing on and off, electronic gift certificates, option to request that new clients contact me directly so I can screen them, option to tie the google review account or google scheduling to get new clients.

CONS

Clients have a hard time finding the gift Certificte option on the website. I don’t check clients out using my square account on massage book, I use it separately and have to go in and check clients out in Massagebook bc it’s usually slower.

Local company & I like the people.

Reasons for switching to MassageBook

The other three scheduling companies were not customized to massage & the customer service was not good.

Helpful & easy

I would say 8 out of 10 rating. The customer service agents know about the product well. They will have an answer quickly. I appreciate that bc so many times I am in between clients and they are friendly. Thank you for that. Customer Service is not so great these days.

PROS

I like that it is mobile and easy to use on the go. I am an inhouse and travel massage therapist. It's very important for me to have this readily available.

CONS

I am not a fan of only having stripe to use when checking out a client. I had to sign up for another payment because MB app won't allow payments from Square anymore. So, if I want to use Square, I bypass MB altogether bc I don't use the laptop version often.

Reason for choosing MassageBook

Nothing, I got this to prove someone wrong about the ease and what could be done with the features. I came to really enjoy massage book because it is so easy to use.

But - you can use your Square account for sure. :) If it's not working for you, you likely need to disconnect and reconnect your Square account in MassageBook. Okay, Just Okay. (Last used system in 2019)

It worked, but I would not use it again. I was not impressed, overall.

PROS

Reasonably priced, plenty of systems cost way more at least. Easy to run checkouts. Well known and helps you show up in search engines.

CONS

Poor intake forms. They are editable, but minimally so (you can add written questions and edit the waiver). They offer no comment boxes for the check the box conditions etc. they worked, but I did not care for them. You lose access to the intake forms once your subscription is canceled, this is what customer service told me, I did not test it as I downloaded and deleted them all before canceling subscription. I believe SOAP notes stay readable. Very glitchy. I had many patients call me saying that bookings, payments, and intakes were not being accepted. I also did not always get appointment notifications. Customer service rarely helped. They almost always said it was user error and that was the only response I would get.

Given the overwhelming positive experiences with MassageBook and our support team and the effort we put into pleasing our customers, we hate to see that you felt we fell short. To clarify - Even after you cancel your subscription, you can always log in to your account afterwards to view ALL previous data, intake forms, activity, SOAP notes, etc. We're happy to say that over 26,000 appointments a day are booked without issue using MassageBook with about half of those being booked online by clients. We're not aware of any online booking or reminder email or text sending problems being experienced, but we're happy to work with your individual clients to see if we can determine where they may be having an issue.
