Pros/Cons
  • Pros

  • The software is customization to some extent. It can help to ensure that clinical staff are filling in all required documentation, which is nice from a coding and charging perspective.
  • Implementing Cerner has been nothing but a positive experience and we have continued to find ways to improve our program to benefit each department within our clinic.
  • Ease of use, easy to navigate a patients chart, easy to make customizations. Very user friendly and makes documenting and placing orders on patients very easy.
  • Cons

  • Worse, they blamed our IT team here when was clear it wasn't the case. This was more frustrating as this was happening while we're busy seen patients.
  • I dislike that sometimes errors can pop up on the screen when they aren't supposed to and at my institution, the application can crash frequently.
  • Amazingly poor UX/UI layout, and often confusing. The customer services has been all along a nightmare.

  • Pros

  • It is easy to use, once you get the appropriate training and practice. I like that is a great investigative tool to search for timelines in the past.
  • It integrates well, with various authentication systems, has superb patient portals (usually entitled "MyChart") and has a great on-site support staff at launch.
  • There is also an inpatient version that my institution will be great for my institution when implement as there will be seamless uniformity between outpatient and inpatient.
  • Cons

  • It can be difficult to change an order and often I will need to cancel an order and replace it. It's difficult to view scanned media as it will close when you try to compare it to charted data.
  • After notifying IT it takes a few days for the features to get back up and running, but it is inconvenient to have to find work arounds for the time.
  • Some seem to be missing sometimes on the app when compared to on the computer. You also can only see the more recent notes, not the older notes.
