Doxy.me is a cloud-based electronic medical records (EMR) and telemedicine solution designed for practices of all sizes. The solution is HIPAA-compliant, and Android and iOS apps are available for mobile devices.

Doxy.me allows patients to start sessions by clicking on a URL shared via email or SMS. The product also features a live chat within the telemedicine interface.

Doxy.me allows practitioners to view lists of upcoming appointments and transition between appointments. Patients can use online check-in which automatically updates the doctor’s patient queue as soon as a patient is available.

Doxy.me enables users to send patients text, videos and images while they wait for the video session to start. The product also records meeting history, including patient’s details, date of appointment and call duration.

Doxy is a solid, generally reliable HIPAA-compliant platform for doing psychotherapy via video. The opportunity to customize your "waiting area" is a nice touch.

Cons

There are often times when the sound quality is fairly poor. At such times, Skype typically fares better with the same computers.

I was able to conduct video sessions from my pc with clients with ease.

Pros

For PC or Android users, you only need to open your browser and type in link to access dashboard or waiting room. No registration needed for clients and no waiting needed for clinicians. You receive an alert when a client signs in. For Apple users, you will need to download the app but still no registration needed for clients.

Cons

One con I noticed was that Apple users must download the app which can be a turn off for some users.

I love that there is one URL that I have my clients bookmark for ease with accessing their appointments. I love the waiting room feature. I love how easy it makes my life because it's a secure, HIPAA-compliant

Cons

Sometimes it can be a little glitchy where I have to re-sign-in, but it's not a deal-breaker and doesn't happen that often.

The fact that this brings hipaa compliant (with BAA) to the market for free is amazing, I do not see any other platforms offering this.

Cons

I wish there was more customization for the waiting room, but this is a minor gripe for free software!

It was working really well for client appointments (which I do a lot of using tele conferencing systems) but has become extremely unreliable in the last month. I did recommend it to one colleague who is having similar issues

I have tried every possible combination to have the highest speed possible, and my clients have high speed service, but Doxy is constantly freezing up during sessions. I used to have excellent service with Doxy and I'm wondering why it has changed. When I do Doxy's diagnostic service it says everything is "excellent", but I can tell you it is not!I have already paid for the service for the year, but I'm considering switching. I received an email from the CEO of Doxy a month or so ago saying he was leaving and i am wondering if things have changed and the service isn't what it used to be?

this allows me to expand my practice from beyond the community I am located and allows me to continue to assist active duty and veteran military members.

Pros

This is simple to use and customer support is always there to answer questions. Customer service has gone out of the way when I took time off to ensure everything was working as it should.

Cons

I have issues with the mic. Other than that on occasion of a client uses a cell device the picture drops out.

I love this company and their software. It's free for sole practitioners. Allows both video client calls and audio only. It doesn't drop calls, gives good quality and you can put a direct link to your website for clients. Never had a problem with it. And any time I had questions they replied within a few hours. We need more companies like this!

I signed up for doxy.me to provide video therapy. I had good success with doxy.me for two or three sessions, but since those initial sessions, I have been unable to obtain a good internet connection and have had to use other platforms for video therapy.

We are a university based, urban psychiatry dept with the largest psych residency in the midwest. we have been using tel-psych services for ER, inpt., outpt & home based services. It has expanded the reach of the psychiatrists tremendously. The average age of a psychiatrist now is 62 y.o. The residents are learning from this experience & it has allowed us to reach the developmentally disabled, geriatric & medically compromised that were not receiving services before. Unfortunately Medicare & Medicaid will not pay for home based tele-med services yet so we are using Doxy with a foundation grant to publish the results & hopefully prove its value to the legislature.

The only consistent issue we have had with Doxy is bandwidth. In some areas, the signal is weaker & we can't use Doxy. we switch to a HIPAA compliant version of Go To Meeting as a back up, which doesn't appear to use as much altho' it has limits Doxy does not have. If Doxy had a "low power" version that could be used in these areas.......................

Pros

clear sound & picture, 3 way calling, ability to have multiple staff using at the same time.

Cons

can't be used with average to weak signals.

The software accomplishes all you need. Simple FaceTime-like interface for android, iOS and PC. Gets the job done and satisfies requirements for getting paid for televisits. The tech support is excellent.
