Excellent practice management software for Optometry
Optosys allows us to operate multiple clinic locations with ease. The support team are very responsive and many requested features have been added based on our feedback over the years. Our doctors love the versatile exam module as it can be highly customized. The performance reporting (KPI) gives us a great, real-time view of clinic performance. We could not operate as efficiently without Optosys.
PROSReliable, comprehensive and well supported feature set. Supports day to day optometry and optical operations. Various modules cover every aspect of electronic medical records, appointment booking, retail sales, product ordering, reporting, and invoicing and provincial health medical billing, web patient intake forms. Features such as eOrdering and online appointment booking set us ahead of our competition for efficiency and patient convenience.
CONSNo concerns - it does everything we require.

Optosys has placed better thought into screen layout and functionality. User interface design as well as reliability is a priority. It makes it easy to on-board new staff as the interface is intuitive and buttons and functions are logically organized where you would expect to find them.

Best EMR for optometrists
The best part was the in office training provided when we first converted. The second best part is how often they are updating and always striving to improve the software. They take your suggestions into consideration and your input matters.
PROSExam and letter templates are all incredibly easy to customize to your individual preferences and this is what makes this software amazing. Being able to fully integrate both my practices was also very important. I now have access to all patient information regardless of my location. Patients can bounce back and forth seamlessly. The task feature is critical to our in office communications, along with making sure I don't forget to write or read a report!
CONSIt was a bit of trial and error and learning as a team to decide where to put which notes. Lots of different places to put various notes and on paper it all went in the same box!

When considering the software available on the market, it was clear that Optosys had improved and was continuing to improve. The ability to customize the templates was the selling point for me. I have been very happy with all the updates and improvements made since doing the switch 7 years ago. I also picked Optosys because of the in office training provided when doing the switch. This was an important option for me and was critical to successfully implementing the program.

Would Like to Discuss in more detail
Honestly my overall experience has been mixed. This software has the potential to be great, but there are a lot of things that need to change. Customer support is difficult to get a hold of. We work with [SENSITIVE CONTENT] to sort through a lot of our issues, and he is a dream. Working with anyone else is non-existent, or has been quite negative. Better training manuals and training in general is required.
PROSI like being able to direct bill and like the online catalogue system for frames, lenses and contact lenses.
CONSWhile the online booking system is nice to have, it goes down often. Working on changing pricing for contact lenses is quite difficult and time consuming. We have had too many occasions where the intake forms do not send to patients. Do not like labelling on reports. Do not like how reports do not include OHIP patients on them. I have also had several issues with billing. Forms need to be adjusted and created more easily. Also do not like how when you print a chart note it just prints what is on the screen (including all of the boxes) - this uses way too much ink and is unnecessary

I have used several different products in the past, mostly in the USA. I have worked with ifile and Acuitis in Canada. I opened a cold start practice and chose Optosys.

Why Aren't you using Optosys?
Extremely positive people to work with who understand our business needs and respond to requests quickly.
PROSAS much as it was difficult at the start to design the templates, the customizability of the platform makes it superior to other software systems.
CONSWe have had some glitches with connectivity but Optosys is very responsive and gets us up and running quickly.

It seemed to be more what we were looking for. Anyone who was using it seemed to be very happy with it.

CONSInventory management is inefficient. The exam module could be more keyboard and less mouse friendly. The scheduler works great for single location groups. For multiple locations, it is cumbersome.

Should have done it sooner!
It has been a great experience even though we did it from a distance (Re COVID)
PROSHaving everything in one place and automated has made our lives so much easier!
CONSPutting Optosys all together in the beginning was a big learning curve. It did make us really learn the program though!

AMAzing
It has its good days and bad days but over all the support team and ease of access is the greatest
PROSTHe schedule is the most impactful aspect of this program. ALTERNATIVELY the communication forum.

Très bon logiciel
tout les modules fonctionnent très bien. J'aime bien toute la flexibilité du logiciel, surtout pour le module examen.
CONSAimerais utiliser le nuage au lieu d'un serveur. Je sais qu'ils travaillent la dessus.
