Our staff loves using Phreesia, and it's a super useful tool to enhance patient engagement...
From the beginning, the sales process was great. My sales rep truly knew the product and kept up with me when I had questions - I'm a tough sell for sure :) He understood the complexities of Family Practice and even offered solutions along the way. He worked well with my boss/decision maker and built a trust relationship with both of us. That's important! The implementation went very well, and the team worked very hard to ensure success - the team leader was amazing! The process prior to go-live included full discovery of our forms and workflows to find a general understand of how our practice really works. Then came the building of the electronic forms (with re-writes and testing), weekly meetings where the team leader kept me to task, and a virtual go-live that was seamless. My own team loved that we could ask questions on the first day, but there were not a lot to ask actually. The Phreesia implementation team has have been with us every step of the way, with little issues to be honest. And if there were, they were fixed, with explanations as to how to avoid issues in the future. The problem/case management is easy to utilize and the support team is highly responsive. My staff remain excited and engaged, and continue to love this product! When we learn something new, we love it even more. I believe Phreesia has a product that they truly care about, and they strive for success - which is what we definitely experienced here, start to finish.
PROSPhreesia has a seamless integration with our EHR - we use Athena. The check in process has been cut down to seconds (as opposed to up to 10 minutes at a time), which allows the staff to focus on other ancillary jobs, and less face time with patients. This is a good feature during a pandemic! Also, the reduction of paper utilizing the electronic forms that automatically flow into the charts has already given us a decrease in paper costs, and all the time spent getting forms to patients, and then having to scan all of that paper as well. Our clinical staff and providers appreciate the data imports of electronic forms and medical history updates, which means less data entry, and therefore less errors in the medical record. The clinical staff spend less time during intake, which allows for the provider to have more time in their face to face with the patients. Finally, the ability to quickly satisfy Quality Measures and Population Health requirements (we are Family Practice) is already showing a big improvement in our scores, which is part of our ACO engagement. Meaning, using the logic that Phreesia provides, required questionnaires due once a year are sent to the patient and then satisfied easily in their encounter. Phreesia also captures revenue swiftly and efficiently, and in one month we have seen a 6% increase in our Time of Service collections. I expect this to increase over time as staff (and patients) understand usage of the program.
CONSI see no cons at this time to using Phreesia. In the past there may have been a cost issue, but they have worked out better packages for practices who are interested.

Phreesia was able to give our Practice a leg up when the pandemic hit and our office was still mostly paper. There is such a wide range of usability. I typically try to use 1-2 days every 2-3 months to catch up on new enhancements and abilities Phreesia has introduced. I love being a part of the Beta program and providing feedback on their newest products. I feel like Phreesia, as a large company, actually hears our input and also considers it.
CONSPhreesia's support team can be very impatient. As the admin, I would like to have more ability to customize Phreesia instead of having to go through support every time we want to make changes. There is a lot of ability to customize as the Admin, but not the most important types of things such as work flows or frequency of the workflows being sent out. I would like to see their self-scheduling improve. One huge downside to it is the duplicate account/charts that self-scheduling allows. There is not any kind of flag or notification that is sent or shown when there have been duplicate accounts created.I would also like to see the appointment confirmations improve.The appointment confirmations will continue to be sent out and ask patients to confirm an appointment they have already confirmed or canceled.

Check in process has become easier!
There are so many benefits to using Phreesia. From cutting down on the old school printing daily schedules, verifying every patients insurance one by one, then calling each patient to confirm appointment date/times to capturing required information via previsit in advance of the appointment.
PROSPhreesia has grown tremendously over the years with their features, it’s amazing too see how far they have become. To be able to utilize technology & have a software to make things more streamlined with the day to day check in process for our increasing patient population is a must!
CONSThere are a few enhancements I have offered, which would be beneficial to Phreesia. Phreesia always has new features to offer, sometimes too many without making changes/updates to previous features.
Reason for choosing Phreesia
Back in the day, Phreesia was the only company out there. Now, there are other vendors that are competing with Phreesia. I work with Phreesia to offer enhancement requests to stay ahead of technology in the medical field.

Excellent Platform with room to grow
Our practice constantly has ideas that could improve the administrator and patient experience. I have always been a Phreesia advocate however I wish our client success associates gave us a "progress card" that we could give to our physicians. I also think Phreesia's structural organization is constantly changing as I have had over 10 different account reps to which I feel as I have to retrain/reexplain our practice every time. Again, our overall experience with Phreesia is excellent - we highly rely and function off of Phreesia.
PROSThe best part of Phreesia is everything it can do. If Phreesia is utilized to it's full ability the program pays for itself. Patient intake allows the physician to have updated and current information at every visit. We can collect and project pre collection for upcoming procedures, appointments, ect. It allows us to be knowledgeable in eligibility to know exactly what the patient's responsibility is. We are able to use data analysis to encompass how we are doing in almost every aspect; patient satisfaction survey, pre-visit utilization, collections and more.
CONSAs smart and functional as Phreesia is, I wish there was more ability to customize to our practice. We are a large facility with 4 different locations and each location may have differences that I wish Phreesia would have the ability to customize differences between these practices. For example. If we need to close a location for a day, rather than send out an email to ALL patients it would be extremely helpful to send a notification only to the patients of which are scheduled at that location.

Phreesia has made our Practice a whole lot better.
Its been great. I have used it at other Practices and it is great. We still have some patients who aren't going to use it, but that number is way out weighed by those who do and love it.
PROSease of use. Patient engagement. Shout outs to patients. Cut down tremendously on wait times and paperwork that had to be filled out.
CONSWe have struggled with the money part. The co pays and how they are posted. I think is our problem.

My overall experience with Phreesia has been very positive/ The Support Team is always very helpful and quick to solve issues.
PROSI like that our patients are sent out reminders for their upcoming appointments and they have the ability to pre register for their appointments. This saves staff and patients time and stress when they arrive. Also Phreesia is very helpful with showing if the patients insurance coverage is active or inactive and provides the patients plan/ deductibles/where they are at with deductibles/ as well as co pay information
CONSCurrently we have some issues that we wish we could add to our Phreesia registrations such as Fall Risk and unfortunately not everything integrates to our current system Next Gen that we use.

Very Beneficial
While using Phreesia we have cut down on the amount of reminder calls we have to make daily, our paper usage has decreased with the ability to send them out electronically. Collecting co pays and balances on account has increased with the option to keep a card on file.
PROSWe have saved a lot of time with the appointment reminder function, along with all paperwork being sent out prior to appointment. Having our patients be able to pay online and keep a card on file has been a game changer. Customer support is always a great help when contacted.
CONSWe had a few hiccups while integrating with our system, but they were great to work with and made sure everything was corrected. It would be nice if we could set patient reminders farther out than 3 days; we like to remind our patients a few weeks/months ahead of time in case they need to change the appt.

Lots of Options But Phreesia is the Clear Cut Winner
We had a great experience from the design of the platform and working with the Phreesia team to customize the platform exactly the way we wanted it. They have flexibility to make it specific to your practice and the Phreesia team is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.
PROSCompletely streamlined the patient experience from reminder calls, Kiosk service for self check in, converted all our patient documents to digital format, allowed for online portal payments and have allowed us to create custom patient satisfaction surveys for our patients.
CONSCan be a little cost prohibitive for some smaller practices but made sense for our office which falls in the medium/large category. Customer success reps change frequently post implementation.

Small medical practice
I like the online booking system and customizable messaging. I like that all of my consent forms are online and allow for digital signing and integration into the chart.
CONSThere is difficulty synching history forms and medications automatically with my Athena system. I have to still do it manually which is hard for a small practice. Many patients companion about the ads which I didn't even know about when I signed the contract. You have to pay extra to remove these and apparently it is actually difficult to remove them. Still working on it. Patients complain about the intake process being too repetitive. The system asks the patients to repeat a lot of stuff every visit.
Reasons for switching to Phreesia
Lacking features with Epion although now there are lacking features with Phreesia as well. Nothing is perfect.

PROSFlexibility and ingenuity! Phreesia is not only a platform for patient intake and insurance verification, it can be a resource for answers to many of the healthcare demands. Phreesia has been instrumental in capturing data and reports needed to satisfy requirements such as PCMH, Care Coordination, health screenings, compliance and business agreements, UDS, and more. It is the fastest and most effective means of communication to our patients regarding new programs and/or changes to office protocols or announcements.
CONSAs with any software, there are some limitations, however, with Phreesia many of the limitations are from our EHR software and not Phreesia. The bright side of any limitations is that Phreesia has been wonderful in working with their clients and listening to their suggestions and needs and has worked to find solutions that work!

Phreesia check-in and insurance verification
I am very happy with Phreesia. They have an excellent product. But, it is during the COVID pandemic that they have really shined. In early 2020, we went from 0 telehealth appts on one Friday to 88 appointments on the following Friday. Phreesia enabled the check in, and connected the patients to our telehealth platform easily. Then, Phreesia built a check-in workflow to allow us to provide COVID vaccinations from our office. They are an excellent company to work with. High quality product, proactive, one of my most highly recommended vendors.
PROSExcellent check-in experience for patients. Same workflow when the patient is in the office, checking in early from home, or checking in for a telehealth visit. Well integrated with our EHR. Best insurance verification platform that I have seen.
CONSI can't think of any drawbacks to using Phreesia.

The Best decision we could have made!
I cant' say enough about Phreesia! Their platform is so user friendly it makes the front end workflow easier and more efficient. I love that they are always growing their offerings with weekly updates. Knowing they are willing to make the moves needed to stay relevant and a leader in the market.
CONSThey have great offerings, some of which are not available for certain practice management system. There are issues with the vendors they are connecting to. The other vendors are holding back the capabilities to make Phreesia even more powerful and useful for the end users.

Best software purchase ever!

CONSI would like to see the ability to calculate patient liability based on our fee schedule.

The dashboard is friendly and easy to use. The eligibility piece is interactive and you can drill into the specific benefits you wish to obtain. We are able to better focus on patient liabilities to collect at the time of service. Arrivals has been a huge advantage to allow us to gather the patients registration prior to the visit without human intervention.

Overall experience has been awesome. Their support team is great and always there to help. They usually reach back in touch with you within 24 hours.
PROSPhreesia has been so helpful with our company. Having pts being able to be checked in before they even get here helps us tremendously and helps our parents with small children. We have found that we our AR has gone up while using Phreesia
CONSSometimes the eligibility isn't always right. Wish something would be able to integrate to our EMR into the chart and not just demographics. Like to be able to have whole family account linked together, so parents don't have to make multiple transactions.

Great customer service! Our needs are address quickly and followup has been quick as well. We have been very pleased with our decision and selection of Phreesia.
PROSIt is very user friendly for our patients. The parents really do like it and it stream lines the check in process to make it more efficient and timely. We like the ability to customize the templates to our liking. It imports to our EHR seamlessly. The credit card on file function has been a game changer! Parents love the ease of paying balances and it frees up staff time not calling hunting down payments from our parents. We have had no push back from our parents on this feature and it has really improved our AR status. The self scheduling has been great as well.
CONSI can not think of any thing I DONT like at this point.

Phreesia is great!
We love Phreesia and it's only been a positive integration in our world! I would definitely recommend this to other offices.
PROSI really like the appointment hub and cancellation hub. Those both have worked really well for our company! The appointment requests have helped us keep better track of our referrals and increased patient volumes. The appointment confirmation has help us cancel patients and decreased the number of phone calls we'd get to cancel or reschedule those patients. I also like the communication options in Phreesia. Being able to text a patient information is very helpful!
CONSI with the appointment hub looked a little more organized in new referrals, pending referrals, and unable to reach or doesn't want to come in.

Saving staff time and making charts more accurate

User Friendly
Phreesia is very user friendly and easy to train end users. During the check-in process, the dashboard provides a better overview when compared to the PM, which we used before transitioning to Phreesia.
CONSPhreesia is very easy to work with and resolve any issues promptly. On occasion, our practices will revise a form or workflow. The logic for each workflow can cause some delays with implementing. This is not necessarily a con due to Phreesia, but nature of the practice's autonomy, evolving patient needs, and the requirement to have support involved in the changes. Once the logic is updated, there is a lot of testing before releasing.

PROSThe copay collection consistency has been very beneficial to our practice income. Pre visit is very helpful and convenient to both staff and patients.
CONSThe insurance E&B software needs improvement. There are important "notifications" that Phreesia doesn't clearly give us. Also, turn around time for support needs to be quicker, especially for important issues effecting clinic performance.

I loved that the parents could fill out the patient information (and you could read it) . I also loved that it would tell you if you had a bill, how much, they could set up payment arrangements and slide their credit card in private rather than being called back up to the window.

Watch your billing overcharges excesdive
Easy for client to utilize and accepted well. Staff liked it also Quick learning curve. Initially seemed like a good choice but after closer review of my billing statement this was not the case Now its not letting me post because too short..ha
CONSThe fees per transaction exorbitant and I could not get resolution only well get back with you. Very dissappointing
