Game-changer for distributed teams and thoughtful pointing

Kollabe is a fantastic platform that has significantly improved our team's alignment and estimation accuracy.

Functionality

Pros:

Our team has truly enjoyed the asynchronous and private voting features. In the past, synchronous sessions often felt rushed or influenced by "groupthink," but Kollabe's Planning Poker allows everyone to point on their own time without seeing others' votes first. This change has completely transformed our planning meetings; since the "busy work" of voting is done beforehand, we can spend 100% of our meeting time focusing on high-value discussions, clarifying requirements, and finalizing solutions. It has made our sessions much more efficient and meaningful.

Cons:

The main hurdle we've faced is that the navigation between items feels unintuitive. When trying to move forward through the list of tickets, it often feels like we are moving backward in the order of creation. This may be user error or a setting we haven't yet mastered, but it creates some friction in the flow of a session. Additionally, while the tool is excellent, the pricing feels steep for smaller teams. We'd love to see a more accessible middle-tier or Planning Poker-only option.

Vendor Response

Hi Ian, thanks a lot for the detailed review and the kind words. It’s really great to hear how async estimation and private voting have changed the dynamic of your planning sessions. Reducing groupthink and getting the “busy work” out of the meeting so teams can focus on real discussion is exactly what we were hoping to enable, so it’s awesome to hear that it’s working well for you. Appreciate you calling out the navigation as well. That friction is helpful feedback and definitely something we want to make feel more intuitive over time. And on pricing, we know it can be a stretch for smaller teams, so hearing this directly helps as we think through future options. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience and for using Kollabe, it really means a lot. Matt

Agile Process Helper

I am happy with it, and provides many of the things we need to run our weekly/monthly ceremonies. I have been encouraging others in our organization to try it, as it is far better than other tools we have for retros.

Functionality

Pros:

It provides a streamlined approach for our Retro's and Planning Poker. I love the configuration options, and Jira integration makes it simple to pull in the teams stories that need to be groomed. It also can sync the statuses and points in Jira, reducing manual entry. The export functionality also makes it easy to transfer this information to Confluence or elsewhere post Retro.

Cons:

Most of my issues are minor and are related to the work log of stories to groom on the right hand side of pointing poker. This part is sometimes cumbersome. 1. Sometimes we want to skip a story, or are happy pointing at a particular value through short discussion without actually doing the poker choices. I haven't found a quick way to point the story and mark it as completed without picking a card, revealing the results, and then it will be marked as completed. Maybe some quick buttons on the card itself to facilitate those work arounds 2. Occasionally duplicate Jiras are accidentally imported. It would be nice if the import tool would reconcile the stories that are in the log, and filter the duplicates 3. We groom once a week, and I haven't found a good way to remove old completed stories from the work log. My solution to this is to just clone the room and title it for the the week we groomed, and then go back and clean up old rooms in the future

Reasons for switching to Kollabe

Kollabe was much simpler setup, and provided similar features to other tools I have used in the past.

Vendor Response

Hi Joshua, thanks for the detailed review, I really appreciate it. I’m glad Kollabe has been working well for your retros and planning poker, and that the Jira integration and exports are helping reduce manual work. The feedback around the planning poker work log is really helpful. Skipping stories, quickly agreeing on a value, handling duplicates, and cleaning up older items are all things I’ve been thinking about, and your examples give me good direction on where to improve. Thanks again for recommending Kollabe internally and for taking the time to share this feedback.

Pros:

The interface is very good and the way the retrospectives and planning poker are handled there is great. I love to use this application; but there a few things that are now under a subscription.

Cons:

As it's not an official tool at work, I can't have a license and I can't link the tickets to the ones I'm creating for the planning poker. And now there are a lot of functionality I lost because of the licensing.

Reasons for choosing Kollabe

More interactive and easy to configure. Besides, it's visually more attractive

Vendor Response

Hey Daniel, really appreciate the review and glad the team's been getting good use out of Kollabe! I know getting tools approved at larger orgs isn't always easy. If it'd help, I'm happy to put something together you can share internally to make the case for a license. Cheers, Matt

Makes Estimation Easy, Insightful, and Fun

Really impressed with the overall user experience. Very well thought out. Love how intuitive it is to use; I think the integrations with tools like Jira are a wonderful idea. Yes, another premium feature, but I think the level of thinking into making this a collaboration tool is solid, and the resulting user experience is delightful.

I love the planning poker feature, which is why I signed. It is easy to use and provides great insights into how my squads estimate their work, particularly on consensus voting, the number of votes, and revotes. Also, love how it gamifies the exercise and enables individual thinking.

Cons:

I have not tried the other features, and I recognise that some will only be unlocked through a premium subscription. I have not found anything at this point that I did not like.

Very easy to setup your team and schedule meetings. My teams are thrilled that we have a Retrospective where they can create their avatar and add feedback. I have recommended this app to our other Scrum Masters in our enterprise.

Cons:

It may just be my education of the app, but I have to go to my Dashboard/Retrospectives/pick a meeting and then go back to the dashboard/retrospectives to open a different meeting. Not sure if i can toggle between.

Reasons for switching to Kollabe

not user friendly; no way to maintain a history of retrospectives

Vendor Response

Hi Anne, Thank you for the wonderful review and for the recommendation to other Scrum Masters in your organization. I’m really glad to hear your teams are enjoying Kollabe, especially the avatars, ease of setup, and the overall retrospective experience. I also appreciate you calling out the navigation feedback. Making it easier to move between multiple retrospectives is a great point, and feedback like this helps guide where the product can improve. It’s great to hear that your experience with customer support has been positive as well. I try to stay very hands-on and responsive, so I’m glad that’s been helpful. Hi Carlos, thanks for sharing your experience with Kollabe. I’m really glad to hear you’ve been happy with the overall UX and that it’s working smoothly for your team. Ease of use and keeping things fluid during meetings are core goals, so it’s great to know it’s been a step up from the tools you were using before. I also appreciate the honest feedback around unused features and the free plan limits. That balance between keeping the product flexible while not overwhelming teams is something I think about a lot, and your comments help validate where that line currently sits. Pros:

As a Scrum Master who supports a variety of teams I appreciate the AI element of Kollabe - I often use it to take my teams' Sprint Themes to come up with relevant, thoughtful, and creative retrospectives that allow the teams to be more engaged. We still achieve the goal of discussing what came up in the sprint, but in a fun and thoughtful way that is unique to each team. Bonus points for me that it's a light lift that I don't personally have to spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to come up with that theme/suggestion.

Cons:

There are a variety of other features that I simply haven't gotten around to trying out yet (that's more of a ding against me than Kollabe honestly).

Vendor Response

Thanks so much for the kind words! Really glad the AI retro themes are saving you time and keeping your teams engaged. That's exactly what it's there for. Whenever you get around to exploring the other features, feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

"The Ultimate Collaboration Tool for Agile Teams: Fast, Focused, and Fun"

5

My overall experience with Kollabe has been fantastic. It’s rare to find a tool that balances "serious" Agile functionality (like Async Planning Poker and Action Item Tracking) with an interface that actually feels modern and playful. It has solved two of our biggest headaches: meeting fatigue and "forgotten" action items. Since the tool integrates directly with Jira and GitHub, our retro outcomes don't just sit on a digital board—they actually become tickets that get worked on. It’s become our go-to hub for making sure our remote retrospectives are actually productive rather than just another calendar obligation.

Ratings Breakdown

5

Ease of use

5

Functionality

Pros:

The absolute standout for me is the AI Template Generator. Instead of staring at a blank board, you can just describe your team's current "vibe" (e.g., "We had a rough deployment but great communication") and it crafts a custom retrospective template that actually hits the right notes. I also love how "no-barrier" the tool is. You don't have to force your team to sit through another sign-up flow or password reset; you just create a room, share a link, and you’re instantly in. The addition of fun elements like GIFs, emojis, and icebreakers makes what is usually a "dry" meeting feel like a genuine team-building moment.

Cons:

If I’m being picky, the 7-day history limit on the free plan can be a bit tight if you’re a team that likes to look back at trends over a whole month without upgrading. Also, while the interface is incredibly clean, some of the more advanced analytics and Jira integration features are tucked away in the "Spaces" settings, so there’s a tiny bit of a learning curve to find the "power user" tools.

Vendor Response

Wow, thanks a lot for the amazing review!

Vendor Response

Hi Aline, Thank you so much for the kind words and for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback. We’re really glad to hear Kollabe has been helpful for running engaging retrospectives and that the AI-generated themes have been useful for your team. You make a very fair point about data saving in the free version. We understand how valuable it is to keep a record of past discussions, even in a simple text format, and this is something we continue to think carefully about as we balance free access with the sustainability of the product.
