Manageengine Netflow Analyzer performs far better than the pricing would suggest.

Overall we are glad we get it as an addon to the greater Opmanager product that we purchased. The integration as made things so much easier for our Network Admins to go to one place and get all the info they need on our network health.

Pros:

Cost is a big one. Manageengine is very competitive with their pricing and their software performs as well as, or better than competitors multiple times more expensive. Integration. Nearly everything ME puts out talks with their other products in some way. Either just some data and feature sharing via API, or fully being integrated into another larger product like Netflow is with Opmanager. So either you get the stand-alone software or you buy the whole suite, but they function the same.Overall Features. ME just gives you SOOO much within their software. I have a lot more capability that our agency did prior to switching to ME products.

Cons:

Can be a little difficult to configure with some firewalls. Our Fortinet didn't want to play nice without some time spend tweaking things and contacting ME for some additional support.

Reasons for choosing ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer

We already had Opmanager, so making the decision to add-on Netflow that snaped right into our existing software was a no-brainer and made deployment and usage much easier.

Pricing and capability. Auvik told us a lot of info that didn't really mean much in the grand scheme of our network

Pros:

I found it useful that with ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer I was able to perform real-time capacity planning. The capacity forecasting reports assisted in determining future requirements in terms of bandwidth, which was always an asset for our quartely infrastructure.

Cons:

While filtering through traffic during heavy traffic, for instance, filtering by application and port at the same time sometimes caused delay in skillful navigation and made deep dives slightly strenuous during traffic peak times.

You can monitor many interfaces under an easy to understand monitor

Cons:

While monitor and report options can be self explanatory (its outputs), configuring the tool might not be too intuitive and you might get lost trying to find an option

Pros:

I found it useful that I could go deep into IP level talks during low network connectivity. The application traffic grouping provided this ability to prioritize VoIP during important business hours. We were able to identify its traffic pattern and made corrections where infrastructures needed to be upgraded.

Cons:

The one challenge that I encountered was during the extraction of flows record from multi-vendor devices. When supported, some child templates needed modulations that were only achievable by hand and complicated the process.

Using NetFlow Analyzer the capability of forensics enable me quickly to solve virtually all the security incidents because most of the exercises were established to get to the root of the investigations very quickly. The historical data gave it a background to assist in the overall understanding of an incident as well as formulation of intervention measures.

Cons:

There was not much variety in the exporting formats of the forensic data to be given to outside analysis. This entailed further processing of data into files which can be accommodated by specific kinds of security products.

NetFlow Analyzer assisted me in pinpointing sources of network bottlenecks caused by non-critical streaming programs. The high level of visibility provided by the protocols assisted me in effectively redesigning the internal policy for the non-business traffic.

Cons:

I realized that one important aspect which lacked the capability of alerting. There were simple issues with false negative exposures during one certain period of simple port scan that I had to follow closely by checking flow records.

ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer is an effective tool for monitoring SaaS app bandwidth usage through its hybrid cloud feature. I have managed to decrease the shadow IT risk and explain what they are and how the anomaly detection makes the traffic appear suspicious.

Cons:

The cloud agent deployment is more complex as compared to the on-prem installations of sensors. Historical data compression involves compression of details where occasionally there is loss of detailed information.

The ability to analyse bandwidth usage in terms of applications, users, as well as devices was further magnified by NetFlow Analyzer. It also helped in clearly pointing out the programs that were not essential but were occupying huge bandwidth in order to be fine tuned.

Pros:

I was able to determine the bandwidth trending with reasonable precision, with the help of the NetFlow Analyzer software. Thus, I was able to plan for maintenance instead of having the network going down unlike other times and being able to see detailed analysis of application level issues through the intelligent trend graphs.

Cons:

At some degree of populacy, the process of alert generation was slowing to several seconds. Despite such blocking not affecting the overall monitoring, ideally, those alerts should be slightly more real time for vibrant analysis during high usage.

Pros:

We have been using ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer for quite a while now and it has given us the best insight regarding the health of our network. Real-time traffic monitoring and analysis have been very essential in pulling-out the inefficiencies and improving the traffic flow in the network.

Cons:

The product sometimes stammers when creating reports for large datasets, worse if the traffic included in the analysis is massive. This can result in delay in receiving important data during the high use time period.
