Wonderful for Nonprofits

PROS

My favorite features are the fundraising and online auction. We recently used this feature for a fundraiser and had a lot of success.

CONS

The customer service response time is great, however, one of the chat representatives was not helpful and did not know how to fix an error I made. He took a very long time trying to find the answer and ultimately was unable to help. Thankfully another representative reached out and my problem was fixed immediately.

Reasons for switching to Givebutter

They were constantly changing and I didn't like their interface. Givebutter was easier to use and I didn't like that they were always merging companies. In addition, I love the way Givebutter was started.

Integration with Bloomerang is critical and easy to use

We would not have used GiveButter if it had not been for their Bloomerang integration. That has made transferring donor data and information super easy.

PROS

Easy and very intuitive to use. Free to set up pages and has a good number of options to use, but not an overwhelming number of options. Love that on auction items, you can manually add bids (for live auction) and can change the auction start date for each item.The integration with Bloomerang is crucial! It is the reason that we are using GiveButter. There are other good options out there, but they don't have the native integration.The Live Display feature is slick and will come in handy at live events for real-time updates.

CONS

For some reason, text will not format correctly in the Story section, especially when copying and pasting. I have been told by support that I need to manually type everything in versus copying and pasting. Bullets when formatting text don't work correctly either. This is a basic feature that must be corrected immediately.The ability to use discount codes on the registration page is pretty weak. Cannot configure codes to specific items. For instance, if you want $10 off a specific ticket, you can't assign it to that specific ticket. Doing a percentage amount can get messy too. Need the ability to assign codes to specific tickets.Missing chance drawing (raffles) functionality. We're bastardizing a way to do it using auctions, but I hate to have to bring in another software to execute the chance drawing.

Love RallyUp, but we need the Bloomerang integration. We did one event with RallyUp, which went really well, but the back end cleaning up and reporting was a mess.

Reasons for switching to Givebutter

The Kindful product is pitiful. It is not very flexible and graphically intuitive.

Non profit use

I use it for 2 different non profit organizations and find it relatively easy to set up. I like that you can "personalize" the url. Gives it legitimacy over gobbledygook letters.

PROS

It's colorful and for the most part intuitive and user friendly. There are definitely some quirks when setting things up, but their staff is really helpful and typically responds quickly and with helpful info.

CONS

Safari OS doesn't play nicely with Venmo on Give Butter, causes frustration with guests

Disaapointing results for our first big fundraising event!

Works well for simple online donation tracking and follow up.

CONS

The Auction feature is a big bust and I dislike the use of the word "tipping" for donors.

The customer service is amazing, they have walked us through every step of set up and implementation, and answered every question from multiple staff, and work diligently to implement our suggestions.

CONS

There is a slight limit on how you can format newletters, not a deal break by any means.

Givebutter Use for School Fundraisers

It has been a good format for our school's fundraising needs. We need to keep as much profit as possible and Givebutter allows us to do that. We also like that it accepts multiple forms of payment to fit all needs.

PROS

It is simple to use for payment as a user and set up is fairly easy. The display is eye catching and colorful. Users can watch how a fundraiser or event is doing as well as leave a fun comment for the person they are suporting.

CONS

The user interface as a donor is not easy to move through. It is difficult to understand how to create an account for yourself, but also have the fundraiser page for your child. It is challenging to switch from the child page to a donor profile. I also found it difficult to share the page with others.

To save less in processing fees, but to also have a format that we could adjust to fit our needs for each fundraiser.

Awesome Auction Functionality

Overall, Givebutter is easy to set up for an online auction.

PROS

We use Givebutter annually to help host a hybrid online and in person auction. This is the second year we have rolled out the platform, and we have raised more money using Givebutter on standard items that have always been a part of our in-person silent auction. The ability to bid in-person on the app or from a different state helps excite the donor base.

CONS

The app isn’t very intuitive, and only seems like it is for the administrators. It would be nice if the app could be used to help manage the auction as an administrator, or be used to bid by a bidder, rather than on a website on the phone.

Best Option for Small Nonprofits

We have no plans whatsoever to change from Givebutter and see ourselves using it for a long time. It's perfect for our needs! Any nonprofit with a budget of under 1M would be wise to explore Givebutter as an option.

PROS

Givebutter's customer service is probably my favorite, though a close second is the format of the dashboard and ease of use. I always receive a response from customer service within an hour or less when I've reached out, and I see consistent improvements being made from suggestions made by users. They really, really listen to what users are saying and implement solutions quickly!

CONS

The only function I dislike is in the auction feature, where it cannot be deleted from a campaign. We launched an auction on the wrong campaign by mistake and now it lives there indefinitely, without a way to remove. However, I'm confident Givebutter will update soon to fix this, as they always have a way of listening to the needs of their users and implementing solutions quickly.

Kindful didn't have options for recurring donors, wasn't intuitive for donors to use, didn't offer a lot of customization options, and wasn't easy to manage refunds or recurring payments on behalf of donors.

Great Price, Great Product

Givebutter does everything that I need it to. I can process donations for our ongoing donation page and for specific events like Giving Tuesday. I am also able to use it for our annual fundraiser by selling vendor booths & tickets. And all of this for free. It's perfect!

PROS

It's free which is great for me because I work at a small nonprofit and we have a huge upswing in money coming in for our annual Fundraiser in August, then the rest of the year there is little activity. Paying for a product all year when it's really mostly used a few months out of the year didn't make sense. Givebutter being free is the biggest Pro!

CONS

It was little hard to import donors and I never figured out how to put in past donations to get our records all in one place, but I was able to tag people as having donated in the past so that worked well enough.

Reason for choosing Givebutter

All the other products required me to schedule a demo to see what their products can do. With Givebutter, I was able to make an account and start using it to see if it was right for my needs. It was so easy to use that I cancelled all the demos and started using GIvebutter that day.

Reasons for switching to Givebutter

DonorPerfect was already expensive for us because we are a small nonprofit. The features that I needed to sell event tickets for out annual fundraiser were extra and we couldn't afford it. We made due, but then we were notified that they were increasing the price! So I cancelled immediately and started shopping around.

Amazing software for small nonprofits

Amazing experience with Givebutter and I would 10/10 recommend them to small to mid sized nonprofits looking for a comprehensive fundraising solution! I don’t recommend it for larger organizations that need more custom solutions and robust reporting.

PROS

The price is unbeatable — it’s free, other than fees that can be passed to the donor! Not only is it free, it’s intuitive and powerful. It’s better than some of the paid tools I’ve used. The customer service is fantastic and they are always adding new features. Free SMS?! Such a bargain and has been so useful to our organization.

CONS

The email functionality isn’t great because the email design/template isn’t very customizable. However, it’s great for just transactional emails, and anything more sophisticated I use another email platform for. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the way the plain donate forms looked, but they’re updating those too!

I chose GiveButter because it had so many features built into one free platform. Donation forms, auction, events, P2P, SMS, and emails!

User-friendly and always evolving

It has been great. The customer service team is understanding and quick to respond. If there's something I ask for that isn't an option, they will add it to their list of requests and usually get to it in about 6 months or so depending on how popular of a request it is. I can't wait to see what they come out with next.

PROS

Love that it is easy to use for admins and donors. The Givebutter team is so open to feedback and makes frequent updates that help us fulfill our need better

CONS

They automatically add a 5% tip to every donation unless you opt to turn it off, in which case you would absorb the cost as an organization. It's definitely the more feasible choice to have it turned on, but beware if your donors don't notice it, they might come back to you very unhappy...

Fundraising on a Whole New Level

With this platform we video classroom activities, present scholarships, highlight students and, this year, conduct an online Silent Auction! We have doubled our bottom line donations since there is no venue rental, catering costs, etc. I strongly encourage you to Give Butter a try!

PROS

FOr years we held an Annual fundraiser for our students in Career and Technical Education. It was, for ten years, an in-person event, plated dinner, speakers, etc. When the pandemic hit all of that changed. We began with Give Butter in 2021 and we are starting our third year. It has been AWESOME! Are donations are up and our overhead is WAY down. I don't know that we will ever go back to the former "old school" plated dinner and speakers.

CONS

It takes a bit of getting used to, the first time out but subsequent set-ups are a breeze!

The Best Platform for Non-Profit Fundraising

10/10 and we've already recommended it to many colleagues!

PROS

We love Givebutter and can't say enough good things. From the ease of setup, to campaign and donor management - everything is one place and streamlines any and all fundraising needs.

CONS

The only thing we'd love to see changed is adding more photos to campaigns. This is a big need in our space: animal welfare, to keep our donors updated with images along the way.

The UX/UI is wonderful and instantly pleasing to the eye (and the brain!) as well as the various payment options available to donors and not charging us fees for each transaction/asking the donors to cover in a non-spammy way.

Highly recommend, bets on the market

My experience has been great! I love this platform and rave about it to everyone I talk to! Well designed, continually improving, and excellent customer service & easy to use.

PROS

Give Butter is an incredible tool for donor management and online fundraising. It’s user friendly, intuitive and the back end is incredibly beneficial for managing donors.

CONS

The set up process for a variety of tools (email, SMS, filters) can be cumbersome and time consuming. I also wish the feature to “reply” after a donation to send a thank you would have a templates thank you note

Givebutter is Best

I am very satisfied with everything about Givebutter.

PROS

Givebutter is straightforward in its presentation and I felt confident in my choice to use them. I'm not the most technically savy person yet I was able to navigate the site and implement the features easier than expected. When I needed support they were very helpful and efficient as well as kind. I liked being able to compose email blasts and set them to deliver at a specified date/time. I participated in a webcast that was very informative yet a bit daunting for me personally. The leaders were very motivated to give all of us the best guidance and they were very sincere in that.

CONS

As a new user I jumped right into the "fray" to begin fundraising and I know I am missing some key advantage features of Givebutter. I really cannot say anything I liked least and I look forward to exploring more ways to use this service more efficiently for my nonprofit.

Great solution for a PTA

It's been great. Great support. Great to use. Adopting it as our tool has elevated our fundraising efforts.

PROS

Site is easy to set up and customize. It is easy to share out. And it is easy for donors to use.

CONS

Would like to be able to customize fee settings more - choose to cover some fees and request donors cover others. Auction needs more functionality. One specific thing is the ability to print item sheets with description and picture. We cannot make an easily seeable and exportable note on transactions. Cannot make customizable fields for internal use only.

Very Satisfied

I have had a very positive experience with Givebutter. The free training, implementation, and tech support has been superb. Everyone is so caring, cheerful, helpful, and capable. The response time is excellent and they listen to all my suggestions and put them on a list for developers to work on.

PROS

I appreciate the beautiful user experience, the outstanding customer service, and the easy, intuitive way it is set up.

CONS

Givebutter is still developing as a donor management system (very quickly, I might say), so some features that I might want are still under development. But I fully expect all those features will soon be available.

Great fundraising tool for non profits!

Givebutter has made it easy for our team members to help us raise funds while allowing each individual to track the money they have raised.

PROS

I like that Givebutter tracks all donations including cash and check. The best part is it automatically sends a contribution statement to the donor. Givebutter not only allows me to track donations, but helps me stay in touch with donors too.

CONS

At this time, Givebutter has worked great for us. I don't have expereince using other tools, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Reason for choosing Givebutter

We chose Givebutter because it seemed more user friendly, allowed for tracking of individual fundraising, and the fees were lower compared to most other tools.

Thank you, Givebutter!

We enjoyed using this platform. It was very easy to use and we loved that donors had the option to donate but were not required.

PROS

Give butter is a lot cheaper than other platforms which is very important for us when we fundraise. We need our funds to go directly to our schools and not to outside costs. The live display was a great feature to have in our front offices on display and helped keep the fundraiser enthusiasm up. Reports were also easy to pull.

CONS

In the spring I use booster and that platform allows students to make a profile and have donations come in through their personal link. On the back end, for me it is very helpful because I can see the amount the class raised and the amount the students raised individually as well as who are participating. With this site I was able to create a mandatory box to ask donors who they were donating for but I had to go back in on my end and create a separate spread sheet to organize this information. It is very time consuming.

Reasons for switching to Givebutter

We were looking for a less expensive option.

Yay Givebutter from CASM

Amazing and a game changer!

PROS

So easy to set up and pull reports for me and easy for our customers to buy tickets and or donate.

CONS

The Raffle and Auction was difficult to manage:1. Auction: The Max Bid was invisible and made it impossible to know the winner if you had bids online as well as in person during the event. Once we learned this, I had to cancel our online auction.2. The Raffle required me to print out every ticket number and name so we could pull the winner from a hat. My family had to cut strips of paper with the name and ticket number of each person who bought a ticket and it was laborious. Would love to have an auto generator that picked the winning ticket!!

Reasons for switching to Givebutter

Jot form was horrible and did not offer the same bells and whistles.

We're always working to improve Givebutter and feedback from changemakers like you is the most important part of that process. We're planning to allow different bidding formats soon, which should prevent your situation from happening again. As for the raffle tickets, we recommend using a random number generator such as https://www.calculator.net/random-number-generator.html Your tickets are all individually numbered, so you'd just need to set the lower limit to 1 and the upper limit to the number of the last raffle ticket sold. Not as showy as a hat or fishbowl, but definitely faster!

Wonderful price for nonprofits

Their customer service does their best to be helpful and we overall have loved this system

PROS

I love that it has a great interface for social sharing and interaction. We have loved the main page and having the tracker for our fundraiser and donations. We are so happy it's free for us to use, and offers for donors to cover transaction fees. Nearly everyone does that and they save us so much money in fees that stays in our fundraiser.

CONS

There seem to be many intuitive features that just aren't there. As we go about doing things and look for options, it seems we always have to find some funky workaround. For example, initiating an email to people who buy tickets to send them an access code. Or wanting to have a main fundraiser page that tracks everything but isn't always associated with a specific event because we are in between events. Or wanting to sell products for the fundraiser that have to be set up as tickets
