Pros

N4G is always helpful, sending me useful white papers on best practices for each season of fundraising, as well as providing excellent customer service when I do have a question. They walked me through step by step when I inquired about upgrading our CRM with them. They're also used by some of the organizations we work with, so it's nice to easily integrate with them.

Cons

We currently have 13K records and we want to see that number grow, but the N4G platform doesn't have the capacity to grow at a reasonable price for us.

Great Payment Processor

Network for Good is a great payment processor. We use it in conjunction with our Crowdrise account for our third party and peer-to-peer fundraising events.

Pros

Features easy to read donation reports that captures all of the essential donor information. Simple export feature for donations and adjustable data ranges to focus in on specific periods.

Cons

The system's design feels old and some updates would be useful. For instance, most pages cannot fit entirely on a screen and scrolling is required to fully navigate the site.

I'm very surprised that this system doesn't seem to enable nonprofits to focus on their donor organizations (like corporate sponsors). We've had quite a challenge with this and may have to give up soon.

Pros

The concept seems great for connecting donors, communications, activities, etc. Seems very focused on individuals so not sure if it will end up working for us.

Cons

We can't even get our database accurately converted because their system doesn't seem to recognize organizations, just individuals. So we have spent a few months dealing with this issue, trying to get them to make changes/corrections...still working on it.

We do have the ability to track companies in the donor management system. It sounds like our training webinars and 1:1 conversations with your customer success manager didn’t make this clear. We’ll make sure to highlight this more in the future.

I chatted with our data import team about the complexities and miscommunication with your data import which I understand is frustrating. They did let me know that we were able to deliver the data to you in a way that does work but I understand that it didn’t 100% meet your expectations the first time. And we are sorry for the hold up! I also wanted to let you know that we have hired more data import specialists to handle more complex data imports in a timely manner.

Pros

Nice support team and plenty of related info is shared via emails and webinars. Easy to set pear to pear campaigns.

Cons

Donor database is not part of basic service. however everyone who works with such type of software very soon realizes that it is a necessity. So you have to more for something that supposed to be a basic service. Price is 50%-60% more that competitors for the same level of service. PayPal, MailChimp and many other web based services are not integrated.

Sometimes it is important to just get moving. This is a great software to do that.

Pros

Our nonprofit has been able to scale our marketing, fundraising, and event planning to a higher level thanks to Network for Good. We have 1000% more donors, donations, etc.

Cons

It's a little pricey for us and we had to sign-up for a 1-year contract. However, we committed to making it work for this next year and it has been very helpful so far.

Seemed to work ok if you were looking to only collect donations but if you need to do dues or tickets it's very limiting.

Pros

Back end is pretty easy to use. Ideal use is Only for donations. I inherited this software and tried to make it work for our needs.

Cons

Doesn't work for dues or event fees. Our members of our association can not make donations by law so this was a problem when the receipt only says donation and can't be changed.

We are very glad to hear that the system has been easy to use and learn by someone who inherited it!

However, you’re right about dues. The system is not built to manage membership fees. You can create some workarounds to make it work. But, ultimately, it sounds like there was a either a change in what kind of tool you needed or there was a disconnect with what our product can do and what you needed to get the job done with dues and membership fees. We’re sorry for this lack of communication on the type of tasks the software was built to do.

Network for Good’s software is built for 501c3 organizations to help them raise money from donors and to track donor and corporate sponsor information in the donor management system so they can keep in contact with those donors via email, text, and direct mail communication channels. We do have an event ticketing page tool where you can sell tickets to events. If you’d like a tour of that, let us know!

NFG's Donor Management System was selected because NFG had been processing our on-line doantions for several years and we had a good relationship with them. This was our first experience with Donor Management and was a good first step to learn what is possible. However, shopping around would have been a smarter move. We have been using Donor Management for over a year now and are finding it falls short of what is needed. We have a half-time employee and the system was easy to input donors and their donations. As the President I find it helpful to see how we are doing. However, I find the system falls short in several areas.

Pros

Ease of use to manage basic information on donors and donations.

Cons

Is more expensive than some of the alternatives.
Reports beyond what is developed by NFG are a problem. There is no documentation on how to use and set-up accurate screens to give accurate reports. When calling support they cannot explain why the system does not produce the same information when producing similar reports on Donations or Contacts. Thus, I find I cannot rely on the answer. I have even worked with management for over 6 weeks without getting proper resolution to the questions.
Support answers quickly, but do not have answers readily available.
Their ability to establish Wealth Scores is not all inclusive.

Advice to Others

Spend some time to shop around.

As a fundraiser working in a small development office, I appreciate the Network for Good software which provides user-friendly setup and comprehension. I do not have a software background but I find myself having to develop websites, etc... all the time in order to advance my fundraising efforts. With the Network for Good software, setup is quick and easy allowing me more time to fund raise. If I do find myself in a bind with technical issues, the customer service as been timely.

Pros

The pro for me is simple - The account manager!! The account manager is the initial contact the potential client have with the software and company and my manager was patient, knowledgeable and friendly. That goes a long way when sorting through various companies. My interaction with my account manager left me feeling like the entire process at every level would be the same and it has been. I feel like my manager is there to assist and ensure a quality experience allowing me the ability to always reach out to them when I need additional assistance or guidance. I enjoy my experience with my manager so much that when I landed a new job, I called them up and we were able to secure a contract with the new institution.

Cons

So far, I have had now cons in my dealings with the software or the staff. I have even enjoyed working with Network for Good's billing department.

Advice to Others

My advice to others considering a relationship with Network for Good is just that - consider it a fundraising relationship. You will love the ease and use of the software and so will your donors! And let's not forget the superior customer service that Network for Good will provide you, because you will have a relationship and not just a contract!

Their customer service can't help you so don't waste a call!I DO NOT LIKE THEM AT ALL! They have not fulfilled their contract. I still have not received our money from donors that donated in December 2015 and January 2016 and it's June 30th. I keep getting the run around and being told they are working on it and have to wait for a board member to sign it.....yet I have lost money due to this and they are making money on my donations. I can never seem to get ahold of the same person to help me.

Recommendations

Use someone else they do not send their funds timely and customer servicec is hard to deal with.

We just selected Network for Good as our database moving forward. They have been wonderful to work with and really accomodating to our needs as we exported our data. While we are jumping in with both feet here, we are really happy so far, and are blown away by the little details, like on your emails to donors, blind copy (BCC) your data base and a note is made about that email in their donor record!! In addition, we wanted to link our online giving platform with our database, connect our donors with their social media accounts, and use our database from anywhere.

Likes Least

While donor databases cost a lot, I miss the days of a one time software purchase. Streamlining our donor giving and database to one expense made sense and while the costs are comparable to other competitors, I wish it was less. In addition, we are hoping that as the software evolves they can better link households and household donations.

Recommendations

I highly recommend talking with them as you review your options. We are a small-mid size non profit, and feel this was a great decision for us.

The ease of use and mobility of the software were the reasons why we chose to transition to Network for Good. After making that decision, we had a great experience migrating our data and with customer support.

Our main concern with this transition is that the software is so new - we have had fears of running into quite a few headaches because of this, but overall we have felt that NFG has had a great attitude in accommodating our needs through this process and customizing a system that works. We do wish there was some flexibility in the rules set up by the software (attributing donations to more than one person is our biggest one for this), but overall have been very pleased.

Recommendations

We chose this software because it offers a connection between their DonateNow web donation system, events management, and ease of use in crossover of donor communications. This saves us staff time in entering information into our system, and the web based software is visually appealing and extremely intuitive to use, unlike more complicated competitors.

Three things I like best about the product:1) It is perfect for our size organization. I am a department of one and don't have the need for all of the functions and layers that our past database provided, 2) The database is linked to our fundraising pages and we are able to make changes to our fundraising pages whenever we want. In the past, we contracted with an expensive company who charged us a minimum of $150 for even the simplest change. 3) We are able to call NFG for support, ask any question, and receive solutions, guidance and information.

I wish that the help button (the "?" icon) was actually a place where I could type in a key word and find an article or instructions. i am still getting familiar with the product and often have very simple questions. I get frustrated with having to call, because I often get a busy signal during the day and have to keep calling. The evening support person has not been helpful.

Recommendations

I think the most important thing is to understand what is important to your fundraising plan and then know what questions to ask to be sure the product meets your needs. For me, it was very important that I can call Suzanne at NFG and get help as I need it.

The best aspect, and the most unique feature, of the Network for Good database system is the visual nature of the data that automatically shows on every page. On the dashboard each user is immediately presented with graphs and charts of donation and fund data. On each individual donor's page, there are charts that show their giving levels over time and summaries of their donations in the current year and over their lifetime. For any user of donor data, this is an incredible tool.

Having the donor management system fully online is also a blessing, as often we need to access the information away from our desks.

When I began working with this system when it was very new, so a number of changes have been and probably will be made to the functionality and design. However, currently the way that data is input for individual donors does not have fields for spouses or titles (such as Mr., Mrs., etc). This makes it impossible to smoothly download a spreadsheet and mail-merge a group into a mailing. Both spouses together cannot be credited with a donation, nor can you search for the name of the spouse if you try to get around this by adding "spouse" fields, as the search function only searches name and email. Hopefully these issues will be resolved soon. The Network for Good programmers and other staff have been extremely helpful in listening to feedback and making changes.

Recommendations

Determine what aspects of donor management are most important to you. If ease of use, ability to add many users and access from any location, and easy visualization of your data is important, then this is a great system.

From my end, I use the templates, donor management, fundraising pages, and donor coach. I highly recommend anyone considering the software to try to use all its capabilities.

Pros

If you aren't a fundraising expert, like me - Network for Good is perfect to fit your needs in the nonprofit world. We are a small nonprofit - therefore, Network for Good's templates and customer service allows us to fill in the gaps within the development. As well, we utilize the Donor Coach function and it helps when not having a full-time fundraising director.

Cons

Sometimes I wish some of their templates were more customizable (i.e. changing the color of a button in a newsletter template or rearranging the fundraising pages to my own format). Other that, I love the service!

Having all of our contacts in one place is amazing. Being able to keep records of contacts with donors. Unlimited email and text blasts. Email integration between google and the data base to have important conversations readily at hand. Donation pages, event and peer-to-peer will revolutionize our fundraising. Unlimited users is big enough to allow for lots of helpers. This is a wonderful tool to help our collaboration of non-profits work together more efficiently!

Pros

The comprehensiveness of the software and how wonderfully integrated it is...from donor information to email blasts. It is so easy to get started and to learn to use. And, their customer service rocks! Help is just a chat away...always quick and timely.

I was fed up with our previous donor management system. Its user interface was unintuitive. Writing reports was like a physics class. Zero value. I sat in on a demo for NFG and requested a private one. I was SOLD immediately with its beautiful simplicity. Bar none, NFG is the ONLY software system that has immediately helped us raise money. My customer service rep and fund raising expert are beyond helpful. If you're a non-profit looking for a better way to leverage your donor data, go to NFG. These people are the bomb.

We started using Network for Good a little over a year ago for our online donations and some event management and so far have been very pleased with the outcome! So pleased in fact that we are considering investing in their newly developed donor management software. They are responsive and very easy to deal with. They have a wealth of information available to their subscribers via webinars and training materials. Their support team is really excellent.

Pros

Dealing with their personnel, from the sales call to the millionth call for support, they are always professional, courteous, remarkably helpful and very knowledgeable.

Cons

I wish there was a little more flexibility in their peer to peer fundraising pages, making it easier for the person setting up their own fundraising page. The templates can be restrictive.

Our little NGO was looking for a donor database + giving page/payment processing system that would be simpler than bigger industry options like eTapestry and Salesforce, and provide one integrated solution for these needs. Because Network for Good's donor database is new, the functionality is still not super robust, but it meets our needs and the team has been receptive and responsive to feedback and have already added features we've requested since we've been using it for the past several months. We are happy with what we've been able to do with the system to have better control of our donor data without overwhelming our staff with endless fields and options.

Pros

The simplicity and ease of use.

Cons

No documentation (i.e. user manual).

Advice to Others

We are really seeing the need to be able to filter at the household level, because most of our husband/wife donors give together...we link donations to one of the two and the other one will show up in filters as not having given even though they have.

Network For Good Donor Management was the perfect solution for our nonprofit company. It is extremely easy to use and get set up on. One of it's best features is it's ability to create filters for your donors. I can easily sort out donors based on donation amount, last donation date, what campaigns they contribute to, and so much more. This platform also makes it easy to follow up with donors. It can sync up to your email so you can easily track conversations with donors. We are very pleased with this platform!

This is the first time I have ever used fundraising software, and I have been tremendously pleased with my experience with Network For Good. The customer service is outstanding! They are always available to provide technical assistance as well as fundraising tips and advice. The Donor Management System is easy to use and the giving pages are great. Suggestions for improvement would include a better event registration option, as well as the improvements to the email blast system; but one of the best things about Network For Good is that they take suggestions seriously and are constantly upgrading the system based on user feedback. Very happy so far with this service!

Network For Good (N4G) has been an excellent addition to our fundraising team - that team being me, me and only me. The product is very easy to use, intuitive and the support staff is willing to help whenever I need assistance.
The N4G support staff is very attentive to individual needs. No sooner had I made a recommendation regarding a certain functionality and several days later it appeared as a permanent update.
N4G also provides a host of webinar training products and materials. As a new user, I don't think I have scratched the surface regarding functionality and/or reporting capabilities but so far any option I have needed is there. Our board has also been very satisfied with reports to date.
As far as recommendations for future products, I would love to see additional templates for newsletters, eblasts, and peer to peer campaigns or configure the current offerings for flexibility.

Pros

Easy to use, very intuitive, helpful and knowledgeable support staff.

Cons

Templates are somewhat constraining.

From the first phone call to NFG I knew I was dealing with a very special organization with some very special people. I mattered; my organization's needs mattered; what I had to say mattered. And that has continued from that first call through every single call with every single person at NFG.

We're a small organization and so this had to be something we could manage in house and that made sense for us. We don't have the budget (or the inclination) to pay for expensive customizations that we ended up needing with other products. The NFG database is made for organizations that deal with donors. You can absolutely tell that the people who built this product know their customers and their customers' needs.

If I had to pick one word to describe my experience with NFG, I'd pick "responsive." When I email or call, I get an instant response. When I want to talk out a process I'm not tolerated - I'm welcomed! When I have a need that isn't yet part of the database, I know I'm taken seriously and that whatever I've identified is now part of NFG's plans for the future.

I needed a real partner with software that would do what I wanted it to do - with donors, not "customers" - and I got both with Network for Good!

Pros

It's a donor relationship manager. It's not a sales tool that we'd have to customize for dealing with donors. It's intuitive. It's easy to learn. It makes sense for the way we interact with our donors and supporters.

Cons

I haven't found a con except that, as an early adopter, all of the features aren't yet optimized - but everything I need to do my work now is already live and working!

Advice to Others

Try it - buy it! You won't be sorry! The folks at NFG make every other experience you ever had with a donor database fade into oblivion!

Our small nonprofit has benefited greatly by using Network For Good. It is the perfect fit for our growing charity. We started using it simply for receiving online donations, and now we use it for event management and donor database management. It has been a great experience since we began using NFG three years ago. We have just started using the Donor Database Management tool, and it has made this year's donor outreach extremely easy. Because of this new tool, we have a handle on our donor information in ways that we have not been to before. We have no complaints whatsoever about Network For Good.

Pros

NFG is very user-friendly (both on the donor and nonprofit ends). The few times that we had support issues or questions, they were answered immediately with total professionalism. Donation pages are extremely easy to set up, with clear instructions and tips along the way. The feedback from our donors has all been positive. The team at NFG is professional and efficient. We have enjoyed a very positive relationship.

Cons

Honestly, we can't think of anything negative. Any problem we have had has been remedied immediately and professionally.

Advice to Others

We cannot recommend it enough for new or small nonprofits that are not sure where to start. As we have grown, we have been able to include more and more features. The value for the money paid is excellent, and the platform is easy to use. We often refer to it as another "staff member" because it has allowed us to more efficiently and effectively our fundraising time and energy.

N4G has been superb to explain, coach, and be patient with someone who is technically challenged -- but the one with the time to do the admin stuff (incl donor management data entry) to do the work to cultivate donors and community interest as it should be nurtured. Customer service has continued be attentive, on target, and most helpful.

Pros

We shopped around for donor management (whatever the current label) software for some time. Key information is critical but we didn't want so much that we found ourselves entering data that we would not likely need. Ours will always be a community and surround program. I coach small nonprofits to build capacity. This N4G tool is a 'good tool for that toolbox.'

Cons

I'm struggling with the eNews templates. It may be a learning curve for me, but right now it's taking far more time to figure out what will work well than it should. The limitation of pixels for images makes selections especially challenging.

Advice to Others

If you're a smaller and/or just launching nonprofit, think carefully about the donor software that you need now, but one that has the capacity to grow as your organization does. Bells and whistles beyond what you truly need will likely frustrate you soon rather than later.
