We transitioned to Virtuous from Raiser's Edge several years ago, and it was probably the best decision we ever made in terms of being able to decentralize our CRM and make it accessible to our team at large. It took us a while to get everyone trained to use it but now that we are up to speed we don't know how we lived without it.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Virtuous was one of the newer CRM's when we started using it, but you can tell they are improving it all the time. As the years have gone by, its look and feel as well as features have continued to improve. It gives you the sense that you are working with a much bigger company that is dedicated to providing a quality product. It has helped our entire team have a central place to interact with donor data and we have been able to customize it to meet our needs.

#### Cons

There were a few hiccups initially as we got our data sorted out and imported to the platform and the fields customized for how we would use it. We probably still have some ways to go with our architecture, as we cannot continue to infinitely expand our data fields. We are at a point now where it is starting to get clunky with all the fields we have added. But it is not the fault of the platform, more the way we use it. The platform itself has continually improved.

We've used Virtuous for five years, and the team feels like a true partner. We've suggested ideas and improvements, and we've been happy with how we keep building out our Virtuous database as our systems become more sophisticated. I feel like we still have so many features to tap into!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Virtuous has allowed us to manage all aspects of our CRM work. We engage with our member network as well as our donor base. The email marketing tool, automation workflows, flexible architecture, and wealth screening integrations have worked so, so well for us.

#### Cons

There hasn't been anything too significant - Virtuous is constantly rolling out new features and improvements.

#### Reasons for switching to Virtuous

Salesforce was clunky, overwhelming, and I felt tied to a consultant for every little change I wanted to make.

### Customer service is non-existent

- Product usage: Used weekly for less than 12 months

The experience has been poor. After a year of trying to get it up and running (countless hours from multiple team members) we are about to cancel our contract because the support has been that bad. I would not recommend Virtuous.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 1/5
- Value for money: 1/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 1/5

#### Pros

Helps us track incoming funds and monitor whether donors lapse

#### Cons

There is no dedicated customer support. If you have questions, you are required to send inquiries to a generic support account or chat with a bot. It is painfully slow to get any kind of acknowledgment of our questions, let alone reach a resolution. As a result, we have not been able to migrate from one marketing platform to Virtuous Marketing. Does not allow us to report income/donations in more than a handful of approved currencies.

It is an immense help to our organization to implement an API between Virtuous and our mission-trip tracking platform. Also, having a single location where we can house our contact database and seamlessly interact with our website and marketing efforts is excellent!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

In my role, I utilize gift tracking, contact profiles, query tools and reports, email marketing, and campaigns. Each of these features are easy to use and updated efficiently in the Virtuous admin settings.

#### Cons

Campaign integration still feels clunky to me, even after support calls, reading articles, and receiving training. The data represented through the campaigns is not easy to retrieve at a snapshot.

#### Reasons for switching to Virtuous

Not sure - that decision was before my time, but I believe that functionality was not as comprehensive on the iDonate platform.

#### Pros

We are a small nonprofit and our Development Department consists of one person. It was important to us that we found a CRM that could wear many hats and more importantly had automation.

#### Cons

It did take a long time for me to learn how to use it. However, this is because I am a one-person department who has to divide my time between many different things. It took a lot of practice for me to understand how Virtuous functioned and to get the hang of it.

#### Reasons for choosing Virtuous

We read the ratings, and the comments of other users regarding the customer service. Also, the automation.

We are thrilled to be with Virtuous and are very expectant that this software will enable us to grow in unmeasurable ways. With the marketing tools Virtuous offers, the possibilities are limitless.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Virtuous possesses one of the nicest interfaces out of the 10+ Donor Management systems/CRMs we looked at. The user-friendly interface and layout create an environment that is more enjoyable to work in and makes learning the software that much easier. We inevitably chose Virtuous because it offers so many automation tools that would allow us to streamline several tasks that had been managed manually. Virtuous came in clutch when Blackbaud dropped the ball. (I typically wouldn't use this opportunity to throw a competitor under the bus, however after our recent migration, it's only fair to others shopping to be warned). Virtuous was nothing short of amazing during migration period. They have always been very communicative and willing to assist. Even when our prior system was dropping the ball, they stepped in to do what they could do to ensure we were taken care of. I can honestly say that Virtuous seems to care about their customers and is on our side. Much more than most other vendors I have worked with.

#### Cons

Although Virtuous has several amazing automations, there are a few limitations. One key feature we were looking for, and still hoping for, is scheduled reports. Scheduled reporting and a more relaxed import tool would make this product and 10/10. By relaxed import tool, I mean an import tool that could be circumvented or allow for more data entry when a match was found. Other than that, the only other area that could be improved is customer service that could be reached by phone or live chat.

Everything about Virtuous is easy and fast. Virtuous has made learning a new CRM simple. I can manage donors and gifts easily and quickly and when I need help, I can onboard staff in snap.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

For me, Virtuous is about simplifying the typical CRM into a useful, efficient, and powerful tool. Add in Virtuous's automation features and, in my opinion, you get one the best CRMs at a great value. Now, add in some of the nicest people in the business, who really care about you, and you have the best CRM in the world.

#### Cons

While Virtuous is fantastic, it's also still growing. Some features are missing but they're getting added all the time. To make the automation even more powerful, I would love to see a Zapier integration.

Although it's live, functional, and an overall great platform, Virtuous is still a work-in-progress in somewhat early-stage. Dev team is still working to streamline some of the fundamentals. If you go into it knowing that, you'll be perfectly happy. If you go in thinking you'll be using a "matured" software, you will get frustrated.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

User experience and design is grade A. A lot of cool functionalities that most non-profit CRMs don't have.

#### Cons

Queries are a little wonky compared to other nonprofit CRMs I've used.

Virtuous has helped us to stay organized and to engage with our donors better. The email send function keeps everything integrated and organized so anyone can pick-up someone else's work and provide each donor with a personalized experience.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Virtuous makes it easy to keep all of our donors organized. We are a large nonprofit and prior to beginning to use Virtuous things weren't easy to sort out. It is great to be able to sort and organize to get a better understanding of our donors.

#### Cons

It can be a little clunky if you need to sort based on a criteria that is not already available. It is still possible, but it can be tough to sort.

Would definitely recommend this product and service for mid-size, non-profit companies looking for big bang for the buck. Plus, the customer service and personal training offered by Virtuous is second to none. Consider this as a strong contender in the CRM market.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

- Ease-of-use - Deliverables - Customer service and training support - Nice visual data representation - Powerful - Secure - Awesome preexisting reports, plus options to manipulate as needed - Exactly what I needed to manage donor relationships and more!

#### Cons

- Jargon took some getting used to, but otherwise no complaints - Doesn't seem to integrate seamlessly yet with MailChimp

Great idea but a bit tough for some old folks where in the world internet is a problem! Wonderful that supporters can be encouraged in days instead of weeks well done !!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The fact that it is so quick and I can write to supporters so much faster to thank them! I can see if the giving is up and down and we can get figures for the accounts so much sooner! It also tells me of those who have not given recently and I can get maps of area where they live and this is fantastic for travel and deputation work!

#### Cons

Takes a time to get to grips and need a simplified manual! It is good that you can get good training and our HQ can use team viewer to teach us and take over screen for lessons!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5

#### Pros

I've loved how easy it is to use Virtuous. The trainings are plentiful, the interface is user-friendly, and the transition from one database to another has been as smooth as possible. Great customer support. So far, I have no qualms about Virtuous.

#### Cons

The hardest part about using Virtuous has just been learning how to use it. Like any new product, you have to take the time to read the "manual" and figure out how things work. Aside from that, integration has been easy.

Our organization had an unwieldy CRM before, and Virtuous made our CRM troubles disappear.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5

#### Pros

Ease of use, good looks, and excellent query tools. Virtuous was developed with people in mind. For that reason, it's delightful to use, and I highly recommend it.

#### Cons

The only con I can think of is having to migrate data to Virtuous if you're already using an ok CRM. If you're happy with what you have, it might be more trouble that it's worth. Otherwise, go for it. This is better than anything else I've seen on the market.

Would love the option of removing system labels, also virtuous scores - as a member of our company the virtuous scores aren't helpful.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The tech support has been helpful and timely. Very functional, doesn't feel like a lot of excess features. Like the note-taking feature w/ individual contacts so I can remember where I left off with them the next time I connect with them. Haven't added any widgets yet to our home screen but imagine that will also be a helpful feature.

#### Cons

I can't remove system labels that I find unhelpful, e.g. "prelapsed" or "lapsed" donor labels either aren't meaningful or once a donor lapses once it seems to remain there for a while even though their giving resumed soon thereafter

### Virtuous Is An All-Encompassing Tool for Donor Management/Email Communication

Overall, the experience with Virtuous is great and it is a platform I would recommend, especially to non-profit organizations looking for an all-encompassing donor relations/customer relations management platform.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I absolutely enjoy working with the Virtuous software to manage constituent and email user data and analytics. Out of several platforms our clients use for donor management/engagement, Virtuous is by far one of the more robust platforms due to its all-in-one packaging. It serves as a donor management system to house donor and gift records for reporting and receipting purposes, as well as a platform to create customized donation pages and creative email messages.

#### Cons

One of the features in Virtuous is the ability to query contact names/emails for specific campaigns or marketing promotions. However, it only keeps the names from the last 90 days intact, so you have to save each file download to get a glimpse of the entire picture of who all signed up from your campaigns.

Compared to other platforms I would put Virtuous in the top five. We have been recommending this to our non profit clients.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

It is a very robust platform and gives you the ability to zero in on data. It has a large capacity to handle every part of your non profit. They have an extensive library of help articles. For the most part the system is intuitive.

#### Cons

Because it is so robust, it is sometimes difficult to sift through data or ensure you're getting the most accurate data. If you are batching in contacts, you have to manually touch every single contact which can take hours of work. They only keep form names for 90 days making it difficult to query and track.

#### Reasons for switching to Virtuous

Salsa was removing conservative non profits that focus on Israel off their platform.

Virtuous allows for any number of metrics to be pulled because of the ample data it can host. It's easy enough to use to get started with but comprehensive enough that you can always find something new to analyze.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 3/5

#### Pros

Virtuous is a step above other nonprofit CRMs. There are endless capabilities, reports, and metrics that can be pulled from Virtuous. Virtuous is intuitive enough to focus your attention on the data that matters most.

#### Cons

Some data could be organized better. The sync with QBO could be improved. Creating custom reports could be tweaked to be more efficient and quicker.

#### Reasons for choosing Virtuous

Virtuous is capable of doing more for similar value.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Virtuous is one of the more intuitive, user-friendly CRMs I have used in my fundraising career—while still providing robust data and analysis. This is the third donor database my current nonprofit has employed over the years—the first one I was able to choose personally—and after multiple years now using the platform, we're all still very satisfied. We appreciate having instant access to upgrades and new features, and I can't begin to say how wonderful our experience with the PEOPLE of Virtuous has been. Our sales associate, data migration team, customer success specialist, and the help desk folks have provided fast, efficient, thorough, knowledgeable, proactive assistance at every step.

#### Cons

This is largely an out-of-the-box solution that does not require significant up-front investment of time and manpower (two things nonprofits notoriously lack) in order to build from scratch. That may not be the right choice for someone who needs or desires more customization, but it was for us. There are still plenty of built-in / best practice features that can be tailored to our unique needs.

#### Reasons for choosing Virtuous

Virtuous offered all of the features we were looking for—and some we didn't KNOW we needed—without requiring massive amounts of work up front. What nonprofit fundraiser has time for that? Virtuous is the perfect amount of customization + convenience.

#### Reasons for switching to Virtuous

The Virtuous platform is far more intuitive and user-friendly, and you are free to choose integrations that work BEST (regardless of brand). Equally important and so refreshing has been the consistently outstanding customer service. It's clear that all of the Virtuous departments actually talk to each other, which means better answers and problems solved faster.

We are not yet sure if it was the right choice for our organization to move to Virtuous. We still believe that the product will support our growth as an organization long term, but we are not currently satisfied and hope to be proven right. Based on our experience so far, we would not recommend Virtuous to another organization.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 1/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Virtuous has many intuitive features and is visually appealing for the user. Lists and queries are easy to run without having any background in querying language. I appreciate that Virtuous is frequently rolling out upgrades, bug fixes, and new features.

#### Cons

The software runs very slowly without explanation on some days, taking nearly a minute to load certain pages or widgets. Reporting has some limitations compared to our last software. Customer support is very hit or miss. Support is initially provided through a chat bot and then answered "usually" within 24 hours by a Virtuous representative. Some reps are knowledgeable and provide helpful links, screenshots, etc, while others don't seem to know how to work the platform themselves. There have been backlogs at times where requests are not answered for 2+ business days, and if you ask a follow up question, you may find yourself waiting again. There seems to be no option for an upgraded customer support package if you have unique or custom requests. The knowledge base is not comprehensive and is sometimes out of date. The migration process was also very rough. We started out with a professional and extremely helpful project manager, but when he transitioned off, it went downhill quickly. The Data Migration Specialist that worked with us did not seem to have experience and although she ultimately did what she could to be helpful, probably putting in many extra hours on our behalf, my sense is that her lack of initial training and lack of diligence in early conversations wasted many hours for both of us.

#### Reasons for choosing Virtuous

They're great at hyping their product up

#### Reasons for switching to Virtuous

We moved primarily because DP's user interface was so clunky and outdated. It was unnecessarily complex to navigate and difficult for new team members or team members without as much technical experience to learn the platform. With a large team, we wanted something more accessible.

Excellent onboarding with partners, great training, robust software and solid integrations. We are also thankful for the regular communications from the vendor including software enhancements that are automatically deployed monthly.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Extremely user-friendly interface and robust written and video documentation makes Virtuous easy for staff to learn to use. The features are rich including donor management, online donations, integrations, volunteer and event management and reporting.

#### Cons

Not the cheapest system on the market may price it out for very small non-profits, but you certainly get what you pay for!

#### Reasons for choosing Virtuous

Considerably more features, better usability, expanded integrations, and a better overall implementation process than the other options on the market. Also some great partners to implement.

#### Reasons for switching to Virtuous

Needed a more robust system, and wanted to replace multiple products (CRM, email marketing, online fundraising) with a one-stop-shop.

With many different ways that someone can enter our ecosystem, Virtuous has helped us be UBER responsive and deliver targeted and contextually relevant messaging to various audience segments. Everyone is on a unique journey, and it is being steered as we learn more about a contact.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The marketing automation functioanlity in Virtuous is best in class and has allowed us to scale fundraising without always bringing on more humans. The automations function does the work of 1.5 humans, and we are just getting started. We have entire donor journeys built out on automations...we call it our "donor plinko board," a place where, no matter where someone enters our ecosystem, Virtuous know who they are and serves them with the right message on the right channel at the right time.

#### Cons

There was a period of time where support was slower and less helpful, but they have really stepped it up on that side of things, and we now are getting quick and helpful support responses, even offers to jump on video calls to diagnose the problems or questions.

#### Reasons for choosing Virtuous

Virtuous's marketing automations ultimately won out, and we would make the same decision again and again!

#### Reasons for switching to Virtuous

Kindful had poor UI/UX and did not hold a candle to Virtuous on the marketing automation side.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

I love the tags and the workflows the most! I also love the receipting, it's so easy to use and you can customize it to fit your needs.

#### Cons

I love the reporting and I love the Summary giving fields you can export out, but I would like to see a few more formatting options in the base reporting area.
