Pros

It is very easy to search the database. I have pretty much used it as a glorified church directory. I do know that if you have different campuses it can be very helpful for managing specific databases for each location. You can have as many reservable rooms and resources as you need. That is very helpful for managing who is meeting there and when.

Cons

It is not intuitive. It takes a lot of digging and time to put in to get accurate data on reports. They do seem to be working to improve the interface over time and is better than when it first started.

Our church has been on CCB for quite a while, and I am not sure if we are fully utilizing all that it is capable of. It has been a great end user experience though!

Pros

CCB has some great features and as a user I feel like I am able to stay in the loop on groups I am in, events I have volunteered to help with, and can fill out forms with detailed questions and submit them back to the church.

Cons

Although keeping track of groups (like major volunteer groups) seems somewhat straightforward, I don't see how keeping track of who is in what smallgroup/lifegroup could be done. Additionally, our church has a hierarchy of leadership to help streamline things, and I don't see how CCB helps us solve this problem.

Pros

The product had much potential to help our church get organized. At first, before we signed up, their customer service was excellent. But after we signed up.

Cons

Their customer support is lacking to nonexistent. They agreed to cancel our subscription but haven't cancelled their automatic payment. When I tried to call to request a refund, they've simply given me the runaround but will not give me a solution. They did not prove themselves to be helpful or trustworthy. I had to call my credit card company to block payment

There is nothing I like about this software except that has a nicer user interface. In simple terms, it's pretty.

Likes Least

Customer Service! When you submit a 'ticket' their usual response is "that's a great question".... really? that is no way answers my question.
Ease of use is terrible. Other than our staff, I would estimate that only 15-20% of our church congregation uses this on their own.
Updates = many many software problems. Every time they do an update to fix issues in the software they add nearly as many glitches back into the system.
Server space & speed is extremely poor. When adding rooms to an event, it takes almost 30 minutes for the servers to respond to your request. In the mean time you can not do anything else in CCB except wait for the spinning wheel of death to go away. This greatly effects the efficiency of our team, but their response was that they have more important things to work, so this fix will not happen for some time.

Recommendations

Look at other software options. Planning center has new stuff out. Maybe in a year.... or two, CCB will finally get their act together and have a product worth paying for.

Value for Money

Likes Best

Brings many components of the church operations together in one place.

Customer support is very responsive and timely.

Likes Least

Cannot accommodate debit payments or set-up automatic bank withdrawals with Canadian banks.

VERY steep learning curve -- many of our "older" church staff have simply given up.

Sending emails to the PARENTS of the children in our program requires learning how to use a "mail merge" instead of just an easy click to select to email the parents. This has caused many of our volunteer teachers and program leaders to just opt out of using CCB and, instead, create their own email lists.

Mastering process queues is particularly difficult.

Recommendations

Beware if you are a Canadian Church -- they aren't quite ready for us yet.

Recommendations

Make sure you know what you are getting - there are just a few packages that provide similar services, and each has different quirks and strengths. It is not a one-size fits everybody!

Likes Best

I liked that I could organize families contact info and keep track or their family positions.

Likes Least

It was not user-friendly. We tried to get our church integrated into the system, but it was so difficult for people even to figure out how to set up a username and password that we eventually started using it only as an address book. We were hoping to use this in all aspects of our church, including volunteer sign up and children's ministry check-in. However, we were never able to fully use the program because our congregation could not figure it out. Also, the set up was very frustrating, again it's not very user-friendly. We just recently decided not to renew with CCB, even though it is going to be huge job and very time consuming to re-import all of our contacts into a new database.

Recommendations

Make sure that they have a good support team and make sure you understand how much support is offered for what you are paying. If your church cannot easily use the database, then it is not worth your time.

Customer Support

Likes Best

It does keep track of people and has an easy to use giving portal. I suppose the price point works for what we do with it, but it is not a comprehensive solution.

Likes Least

The interface is not very intuitive and little has changed in the few years I have used it. My main gripe: You can schedule people for a service/task, but you do not have an easy way of giving additional information to only those scheduled (e.g. "don't forget, we have a Baptism, so be prepared after the break"). You have to set up a separate mail message for something like that.

Recommendations

Like most software, they are very good about what it WILL do, but if you do not see something you think it should do, it probably doesn't. Additionally, there is no way to really examine the features of the software without signing up. It's a real hassle if you are trying to evaluate several products.

Pros

For a ChMS, it's not terrible, and they are pushing upgrades to make it more user-friendly and work better for the modern internet age. Tracking information about your congregation is nice, especially baptisms, salvations, group info, etc.

Cons

This software has a pretty big learning curve and is not very user-friendly. It is so in-depth and customizable that new users can get lost very quickly. They are making updates to help, but I don't know how far it will go. The built-in form builder is very limited, it's missing some basic features that modern form builders have, but it works for basic registration or collecting payment.

As a member of a larger church, there is no way to disseminate information to all church members about their individual needs and events on a Sunday morning alone. CCB places people in applicable groups to disseminate information efficiently and help these subgroups communicate.

Pros

-The tabs on the home screen are intuitive to use.
-The flow on each screen anticipates my needs. For example, when I view the nursery group I serve in, the screen includes contact information for our children's director and room leaders. It also includes an option to write a message to all participants.
-The "Give" tab lets me store bank information so I can easily use this function monthly without having to reenter anything
-CCB allows me to be added to different groups so that I receive email communications directed to each group. This keeps me in the loop about relevant information, but keeps the information concise since I'm only getting applicable emails

Cons

-I would like the calendar tab to be more customizable. While the software does take into account which "groups" I am apart of and only show me events relevant to those groups, there are still certain events that I'd rather not see (i.e. regular church services. I already know these happen on a weekly basis, and it would be more helpful to see events I actually need help remembering).
-It would be nice if each personal profile had more information on where they are connected in the church-where they serve, how long they've attended, etc

I guess that for the bigger churches I used to work for this software was indispensable. Now working for a smaller church, I already notice the need for the right info on people. So even thought the functionality seems to be more for larger church settings, don't be fooled. It works really well for any size organization. It works great with programs like Excel to pull out lists of people in a sec, which saves you a lot of time.

Church Community Builder has improved my church's management of congregational records and information. When handling hundreds of people from first-time guests to volunteers and small groups having a tool that allows the church staff to be informed about and supportive of congregants is of utmost importance. CCB has also helped congregants to "own" their involvement in the life of the church from managing their giving to their volunteer schedules. It's a great tool for church staff and congregation.

Pros

What I like most about Church Community Builder is the level of detail provided as it pertains to database records. If used to its fullest, the user can store a tremendous amount of information about individuals which in turn helps the user support these individuals as members of their church community.

Cons

What do I like least about Church Community Builder? I cannot think of anything that stands out at this time.

It is great for connecting people around a common task, goal and community. But it lacks the driving human element that makes users stay.

Pros

The networking aspect of the service is very intuitive. Once you are connected with a church you can add ministries, tasks, and groups to your account with ease. The service also creates a church wide callender to show you all the eeents and makes note of the ones you are involed in.

Cons

The reason how it is only great in theory is that the user expirience in not very great. It can be confusing to navigate the site and given that there are not many interaction features, it makes using the site a task and less fluid. Because there in not much reason to use the site for interaction it makes user involvemtn decline, which basically break the entire community down.

We were in need of a current directory (printed) and decided to turn to Church Community Builder for an online directory as well as finance manager and attendance tracker. This offers users the ability to look up and/or change information in their own profiles as well as look up other congregants' information to contact them in real-time, instead of waiting for a printed directory to come out once every 3-5 years. So much changes in so little time nowadays, that this is so much more practical for our fast-paced society.

Pros

Church Community Builder is certainly the best software for managing congregational information available! I love the app for iPhone, which allows me to take attendance for worship and Bible studies quickly as well as look up congregant phone numbers/emails/addresses quickly and on the run. I also like the ability of congregants to interact with one another through groups and email within the site & the security in place to maintain confidentiality as needed.

Cons

For reporting purposes, I need to know certain things about attendees and creating reports can sometimes be more difficult for those who are not very computer-savvy.
