Many Improvements in Recent Updates

Ease-of-use

Customer Support

Value for Money

Bugs have been fixed, features and integrations have been added, and the price has risen very sharply. It's now too expensive for some clients who are just starting out, who instead look at Shopify or other cheap/free options to get started.

Pros

Squarespace is my go-to referral when a non-technical person wants a great looking website that they want to update themselves. The base templates looks great, offer good customization, then I can point them to the bits that they will actually need to interact with: blogs, ecommerce, and simple content updates. Whether they build it themselves or I do it for them, it's very easy to have a classy modern sight that your average Joe can rely on for their business.

The WYSIWYG editor is best in the business.

Cons

Plans are expensive for what they offer compared to competitors. Strange layout issues can haunt you if you try to stray from the pre-made templates. Sometimes the editor will freeze up and cause you to lose work. Custom code editor is very basic, and third party integrations are limited by that.

Squarespace review

Value for Money

Squarespace is easy to use and easy to connect DNS settings, It generally takes 24 hours for a site to go live after the DNS settings have been connected.

The templates are beautiful, you can choose anyone and upgrade to either personal or business, I suggest business.

The trial is 14 days but that is usually enough time to create a site since you are usually just replacing images and text.

Pros

Squarespace is amazing if you are not familiar with code, it has a drop-and-drag function and many visually appealing functions, You can also add additional things like promotional popups (which is your subscriber block that pops up when you open a site), Facebook pixel, google analytics, connect MailChimp to collect a database and ad words.

With Squarespace your images won't be converted to low res, you can also add videos but these videos have to be connected via a third party such as youtube or a video service. The best thing about Squarespace is their customer service, their live chats. These experts help you with your issue and if they can't help you with the solution you were hoping for, they suggest alternative methods.

SEO is amazing.

Cons

The business package is expensive and if you don't have a business package you can't use a mobile info bar, place a Facebook pixel on the backend of your site and you also can't use Mail chimp to collect a database or a subscriber list.

The e-commerce site is not available in rands yet.

You also can't have an except dropdown on a page, this is a problem is you have long text and want a "read more" option. You can use anchor points but only if you are paying for a business plan.

You also can't have a video on a banner if you are viewing in on mobile.

Add nested folders.

Pros

Squarespace is such a magnificent tool to build websites. They make it so easy to find a template and build from there. The tools are easy to use and can be learned almost instantly.

Cons

The fact that there are still no nested folders is a bit frustrating. However, Squarespace makes it so easy to use - nested folder can be overlooked.

Pros

As a wedding photographer, my website is many times the first point of access for potential clients. Squarespace has helped me, extremely easily, build a fully-customisable site to showcase my work, keeping my photography front and centre. There are dozens of templates to choose from, and the page builder is made in a way that even someone that isn't too tech savvy would be able to make their website from scratch. Their customer support team replies to queries within a few hours, and their pricing is very reasonable.

Cons

My only downside with Squarespace is that some very basic design functions, such as font sizes, vary so greatly between certain templates. For instance, the template I currently use doesn't give me the option to change the size of the normal text font, but only lets me change the size of the body text as a whole, altering headings in the process. This is a minuscule problem, and I easily found a way around it.

Pros

Good for smaller mom and pop operations or a secondary store for marketing purposes

If you want a professional store to be a part of your site, this is not the way to go at all. You would be best suited to have your developer build a cart that is part of one database and part of your site to bring traffic to your site directly.

Value for Money

Overall, I think Squarespace is great for making websites for non-profit and educational audiences alike!

Pros

My favorite thing about Squarespace is the ease of use - no one on our project team has the expertise to create a website from scratch, but with Squarespace, we're still able to make stunning looking web pages. Their customer service is also very quick and responsive whenever we have a question. It's a much better service to use than any of their competitors I've tested out.

Cons

The only con I have is that they have limited support for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). We were looking into improving our SEO so we could appear further up on Google search results, but couldn't really do much with our current website.

Ease-of-use

Value for Money

Pros

It has a lot of beautiful templates for different reasons like blogs, ecommerce or portfolio, with different layouts. For free! And to buy a better template is still cheap. Templates are easy to install. It's intuitive to lay things out like images or objects. Not to mention it's cheap to host and buy domains and to sync up.

Cons

Some things are not obvious like linking a blog to a blog carousel-- it would be easier to just have a button that does that instead of me have to drag things to unlinked/linked. It does require a little bit of developer savviness to figure things out that are in front of you but won't necessarily need.

Pros

I was able to use Squarespace to quickly put together a personal website that looked extremely clean and had a bare minimum of complicated set up. I got numerous compliments on the quality of the site despite having no experience with website building or design.

Cons

Some of the menu options are not as intuitive to find as I might like. The best example is when I needed to add different menu headings on the site (I.e., About Me, FAQ, etc.): it’s located under “Pages,” which does make a degree of sense, but it’s not the most intuitive and I constantly forgot how to get there. Also, to my memory, while the analytics page was good, it didn’t allow you to filter for custom dates, instead being last month, last week, etc.

We have tried at least 7 web platforms for our church over the past 5 years. Nothing has ever quite fit. Either it worked fine and had alot of tools and extras, but was more expensive, or it was cheap, ugly, and hard to work with. Squarespace is the best marriage of cheap, useful, customizable, and beautiful. I love the ablility to embed code and customize css. It really gives a platform you can start simple and grow with. I can't imagine that we will use anything else.

Pros

Ease of use is just above anything else we have used at our church. The availability of online, user created help is also greater than any other platform.

Cons

Sometimes i feel forced to use a font size that I don't like.

I'm someone who prefers drag-and-drop web platforms, so SquareSpace isn't my first choice. That being said, it's quite easy to add elements to each page, and I am a fan of the blog. As far as price goes, it may be worth dropping a buck or two from the list price based on what its competitors can do. (On a side note, Squarespace supports podcasts, and I respect that a lot!)

My experience with Squarespace is good. I just wish they'd give the user more freedom and that their blog template wasn't so complicated to use.

Pros

Squarespace has very neat and cool templates (themes) to choose from. If you stick with the images that come with the template, you will have great quality images, if you choose to change them, you'll have to furnish your own images. The UI is very easy to understand, the site is easy to navigate. When making changes to existing websites Squarespace works great because you can see the changes realtime just by hitting save.

Cons

The templates (themes)they provide are cool but the user is unable to change color background or heights between sections. That makes it very frustrating. The page for blogs is very hard to build and the user cannot change things around either. There's not much freedom to be creative. I switched from Wix to Squarespace and now I'm thinking to going back to Wix because they let you do anything you want.

Squarespace is great to learn on. The templates are nice and not gaudy like some can be, the interface is easy to get the hang of though there is a bit of a learning curve from other similar editors, and you never have to worry about security, Squarespace takes care of that in the backend for you. It is feature rich when it comes to Ecommerce, so it makes a good first store site to learn the ins and outs on.

Cons

Unfortunately Squarespace runs into the same brick wall other sites of this kind do. With simplicity comes the lack of options for customization in the long run. The templates all tend to blur together and look the same, leaving a lot of unique looks at the wayside. Squarespace and Weebly seem to be taking bets on who can get users to pay the most for their Ecommerce services before they give in and throw in the towel- which is not an attractive look. If you're just starting out, go ahead and learn on one of these, but ultimately, you will be better served learning to host your own store in the long run.

Pros

The templates are the best out there in a site builder. Everything is very modern and streamlined. Customizations and formats for different types of devices are supported flawlessly. Options for customization are pretty extensive as far as website builders go. This company comes highly recommend to me and I couldn't agree more. Customer support was great as well.

Cons

Pros

There are a million website hosting companies out there. Squarespace stands above the rest. With top notch customer support, affordable monthly billing, and an insanely easy to use interface, I can't think of anything I'd improve!

Cons

Some of the features are limited until you pay for a premium subscription, but for most people, the base subscription should do just fine!

Pros

We use Squarespace as an internal site where employees can login to request company swag (ie. t-shirts, branded pens and notebooks, sales collateral, etc.) Squarespace makes it easy for our employees to make those requests and for us on the internal marketing team to keep track of those requests and the amount of inventory we have for various items. With Squarespace, we can categorize items available, get notified when requests are made, and use forms to collect needed information (ie. addresses on where to ship items to, recipient names, etc.). Squarespace is pretty straightforward when it comes to building your site and offers a lot of functionality.

Cons

No complaints! Squarespace gets the job done and does exactly what we need it to do.

Pros

Everything about the design is slick and modern - design is quick and simple.

Cons

Customization is much harder than most other CRMs - but their designs often get it right the first time. It's hard to make a bad site with this
