Pros/Cons
  • Pros

  • It does such a good job at providing us with a dashboard to gain some insight into our switches and such and does so in a very pretty way.
  • Dives pretty deep and can do some amazing monitoring and scanning into networks. Definitely can help with looking into networks for basics and the intricacies for almost everything you're looking for.
  • Auvik is an amazing network monitoring solution that suit our needs. I like the capabilities and simplicity of Auvik.
  • Cons

  • The speed of the web interface is frustrating at times and trend reporting is missing completely.
  • Portal is a bit slow to load, no native Hyper-V collector, a little complicated for learning how to administer, unable to embed or download visual map.
  • Being forced to get advanced traffic insight licensing for all the devices on a tenant, when it makes sense to get it only for some of them. Also, being forced to a 40 nodes with basic licensing.

  • Pros

  • I like the ease of deployment and the versatility of the agents. I'm running on multiple operating systems and hardware platforms and they all work amazing.
  • Ease of operationAbility to accurately fingerprint assets with better contextUnauthenticated approach to asset discovery and fingerprinting.
  • The visibility that this tool provides is fantastic. It was an easy sell to me for features and an easy sell to my boss as far as cost.
  • Cons

  • During the beta testing of the application the only grip I had was when the scanner would fall off line, you would have to start over. The devices it has already scanned would be lost.
  • I initially index data in. Jsonl file with Elasticsearch (ES) It works well with a small dataset, but for large dataset, it fails miserably b/c of the number of fields in the jsonl file.
  • No option for scanning for additional information with a password.
