Bill.com is a cloud-based accounting solution specializing in billing and invoicing. With Bill.com, users can receive payments from clients, pay vendors and contractors and handle financial reporting.

Bill.com includes an accounts accounts payable module, where users can be invoiced electronically, or they can use drag-and-drop functionality to manually enter bills. Then, invoices may be sent to team members for review. Different payment methods, including ACH payments and paper checks, are available.

The solution also includes an accounts receivable module, which can send customers automated electronic invoices and reminders. As with the accounts payable module, users can choose the method by which they would like to receive payments: via ePayment, ACH, credit card or PayPal.

Bill.com is integrable with other accounting solutions such as QuickBooks, Xero and Intacct. Users can handle customer support through the app, answering customer questions using a notes and comments feature.

The solution is priced per user per month.

Pros

Easy and simple to use and merges well into QuickBooks. Saves a lot of time. Easy to upload invoices and create new vendors. Tracks all 1099 issues. Great way to track all your bills and easy to go back and check all payments in vendors (no filling systems that are difficult to manage and prone to human error). The Mobile App is great - I can pay a bill while sitting in the car or airport etc.

Cons

You have to get used to refreshing the site when you approve a bill (it may look like it isn't approved when you go to your dashboard - it takes a bit so refresh the site and that usually takes care of that)

We as a company relished the idea of using a stand-alone website-based system to automate our accounts payable and receivable and found Bill.com.
Bill.com is almost peerless as it offers convenient integration with Quickbooks online that we use regularly. We can now create invoices and have customers pay online, as well the ability to create particular ACH accounts which allow for direct payment into our account as opposed to a percentage of the transaction assessed so often by other companies offering similar services. Customer service access was difficult to help support our usage of some record keeping tools however in our final analysis if a company is just focusing on accounts payable and receivable and NOT a complete financial system, Bill.com fits the bill.

Pros

We absolutely loved the immediate integration with quick books online.
Our company found the user interface extremely easy to understand and even easier to use with well written executed menus and graphs.
Invoices are easy to compose and customers are afforded the ability to pay online which we found ultra convenient.

Cons

The cost structure we find a bit pricey for the more enterprise orientated company models.
As a company wants to integrate with other systems like Intacct or Netsuite, prior membership is required.

Great accounts payable tool

Pros

Good syncing to accounting softwares (little to no breaks in syncing). Bill.com support is exceptional in assisting in any needs/concerns, etc. I don't use this for accounts receivable but I do for accounts payable and it's great for that. Epayments are wonderful but even if the vendor doesn't sign up for ePayments, Bill.com still cuts/sends a check :)

Cons

I don't care for the updated design. It's complicated and hard to use. The previous design was much more simple and easier to use.

Convenience for paying vendors with direct transfer into their bank accounts securely.

Pros

I am using the software to pay local vendors who previously were paid by check. The software saves me the time and hassle of writing out and mailing checks to these vendors without them having to change how they bill me. They get the convenience of not having wait for a check in the mail and take it to the bank for deposit.

Cons

The fact that the initial transaction takes five days and the fact that even the transactions that have followed still are not same-day transfers was disappointing. I have only been using 3 months, so perhaps that timing will improve with more transactions. I'm not sure.

How easy and quick it is to run and payout your vendors.

Pros

I like the feature of dragging invoices to the desk top, just letting them load and autofilling your information to make sure your bills are paid in a timely manner. They also have really great customer support that care about helping you get the information you need.

Cons

There is a feature of auto adding bills, which is ok but slow compared to a person entering it. Also sometimes when it syncs with other softwhere it get duplicate messages, so again a person will have to manually correct it. This is pretty rare though.

Being able to approve invoices in one location.

Pros

I like that the search feature works so well in this software. If I only know a little bit about an invoice I'm looking for, I can pretty type anything in and it will find it. The approval feature is easy and it is also nice that I can make comments for the accounting team to see.

Cons

It would be nice to have access to reports even if you aren't an administrator. If I want to pull spend by vendor, I have to ask our Accounting Team to do this instead of just getting it myself which is definitely frustrating.

EASY set up and integration with QuickBooks online. Very intuitive UI. HUGE time-saver. It used to take a full day to do a weekly check run. I can now accomplish it in an hour and a half, MAX. Probably faster if we used more of the features. Has the ability to pay vendors via ACH and is less than half the cost per transaction than a paper check.

Cons

The add on to automatically enter invoices, while a very big value and totally worth the extra expense, doesn't take into consideration the vendors terms set up in Bill.com. So if you have an invoice from a vendor that says due upon receipt, but the vendor profile in bill.com is Net 30, Bill.com defaults to due on receipt. An override setting would be helpful. Getting vendors set up on ACH/EFT is a little tough for tech challenged folks.

No help at all through their online support. And there is no way to get a live person on the phone . You have to make an appointment to speak with someone. Finally when I was set up...I had to basically teach myself, they determined that funding business was not suitable for them...this after being told by one of their sales reps on more than one occasion....your business is no problem. Just not run well at all for serious business owners....look elsewhere

I use Bill.com for expenses at my company. I love seeing exactly when an expense report is going to be reimbursed and I love receiving notifications when a payment has been scheduled and when a payment is processing to hit my bank account. It's also great to see all outstanding payment invoices in one place with respective statuses (paid, pending, past due, etc.). You can also add notes to certain invoices that are due to communicate with the processor. And the interface is so user friendly that it doesn't even require any introductory exploration or explanation, which is really the dream.

Cons

I haven't experienced any issues with Bill.com or even any minor dislikes because it's always performed to my expectations for my needs, which are pretty simple viewing invoices due to me along with dates and statuses.

I liked that this integrated with Intacct (our software of choice) which was the main reason to go with this over other AP Software.

Cons

There really weren't many restrictions. Each AP Software has its own benefits and faults and this works well for us.
