About CoinPayments

CoinPayments is a cryptocurrency wallet, which enables merchants, professionals and businesses to store, receive, convert, send and exchange cryptocurrencies. Users can receive notifications about various payment statuses including canceled, PayPal refund, reversal or pending, timed out, completed and in Escrow.

CoinPayments allows businesses to purchase gift cards and select specific images to create custom checkout buttons to accept donations and cryptocurrencies from customers. The system supports multiple cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Litecoin, Celo, Firo, Ucacoin, Zynecoin, Monero, TokenPay and more. Additionally, merchants can display QR codes for customers to scan and pay balances and create invoices to request payments.

CoinPayments provides mobile applications for iOS and Android devices, which help professionals deposit or withdraw cryptocurrencies. Pricing is based on the type of activity and transactions and support is extended via FAQs and other online measures.

Crypto payment processing made easy

Without the geo-restrictions in major crypto markets, CoinPayments would have been the best Crypto payment processor ever.

Pros:

The great thing about CoinPayments is that it just works. Integrating CoinPayments into our project was easy. The documentation was clear enough. Besides, there are existing plugins to make the implementation even a lot smoother on some platforms. In my experience, the customer support too is blazing fast.

Cons:

CoinPayments is restricted in several countries, and this is the main problem we had. To even get it set up, I had to work with a partner in a supported country. I eventually had to move to BitPay.

Wrong protocol, how was i supposed to know?

this is what happened: I tried to buy a product with cryptocurrency via coinpayments. The payment page on the website specified clearly the requirements of the payment being "ethereum, erc20". This let us think that we can send ethereum with a protocol matching erc20 standard. I sent ethereum via Arbitrum protocol that matches erc20 standard. And only after that coinpayments told me that they do not accept the specific Arbitrum protocol... Even if it is a very common way to send ethereum. This does look like a scam as the private key they own allows them to access my funds on the arbitrum network as it is the same as the key for the native ethereum network. (It is a trivial action to access it) So they can access my money and they tell me "you didn't send it the way we like, and we won't reimburse you unless you pay 0.02 ETH (60€)" even if they didn't specify clearly the way they like it in the first place. I am very disappointed.
