Manjaro makes Arch Linux friendly

Very happy with my system. As stable as most Linux releases and more flexible than many. Great for photographic, video and audio work.

PROS

A solid system with rolling updates and the ability to use apps from a wide range of sources.

CONS

Not a product for beginners or people switching straight from Windows as it will appear quite different to what they know and how they work. (Initially!)

Reasons for switching to Manjaro

Ubuntu is moving more and more into its proprietary SNAP app store.

Best linux distro i used so far

PROS

Customizable, stable. Good for development, security and gaming. Rolling updates is a nice feature. It is a lot smoother than the traditional major version where you need to go through a painful upgrade process

CONS

You need to know a little bit about linux before going for an archlinux-based distro. Otherwise, i recommend starting with fedora if you are a beginner

Reasons for switching to Manjaro

i wanted to try an archlinix based distro. and once i got used to it, it started to feel much easier than previous distros

Free operating system

In general I had a very good experience, but if you want to use it, check first if the programs you need on your PC are compatible with this operating system.

PROS

Updates are performed continuously without the need to install the entire operating system again. Obviously something that is very good about this operating system is that it is free and that it has a very large community, so any question that appears about this operating system is very likely that someone answered it on the internet. The package installation is very user friendly, as is the interface.

CONS

The only thing that I see against this operating system is the same as in all Linux distributions, the compatibility of programs.

The best of Arch Linux made user friendly and attractive

I like Manjaro, there are pros and cons to it like anything but I definitely think it is worth using especially if you have always been interested in Arch but found it a bit too intimidating to tackle.

PROS

Manjaro is based on Arch Linux which is a very performant and secure distribution but is notorious for being inaccessible to beginners. Manjaro provides an easy installation UI so even beginners can work with this Arch based distribution. XFCE is supported and will be installed as part of the process. No more being dropped at a terminal after installation. Like Arch, Manjaro has rolling versioning, which means you don’t have to keep re-installing when a major version is released like you would with Ubuntu. Though if you are using as a server, you probably wouldn’t want the version to roll automatically in case it goes wrong. Manjaro has nice colours and themes by default, there has been a lot of effort put in to make it look very attractive.

CONS

I have had issues with installing Manjaro in VirtualBox but I’m sure this will be sorted out with time once it becomes more mainstream. Also when things go wrong, you will most likely need to jump into a terminal and use the more esoteric side of the Arch based commands. So you can’t think it’s all going to be user friendly.

My favorite Linux distribution

PROS

Manjaro gives you the versatility of Arch and packages from Arch's enormous user repository while removing the hassle of installation/configuration and providing useful tools for easy driver installation. Choose a desktop environment, install and everything comes pre-configured with sane defaults. Even though it's a rolling-release distribution, I've had no stability/update issues over the years that I've used Manjaro as my main OS at work.

CONS

The only issue I've encountered that I've not been able to solve (yet) is terrible sound stuttering while connected to a Bluetooth headset in headset mode (playing audio without using the microphone works fine)

Reasons for switching to Manjaro

I didn't want to go through the installation and configuration process another time.
