An excellent Linux distribution for end users

    5

We decided to use this version to integrate them with Linux distributions own services and at the same time to be able to give the user a friendly, easy and interactive interface without losing the performance of the equipment and so that he can carry out his daily tasks in a more comfortable and adaptable way.

    Pros:
What I like most about this distribution is its easy to manage and use interface, which allows the end user to familiarize himself with the system and at the same time be able to carry out his daily tasks.
    Cons:
I would say that the cost is a bit since it is a Linux distribution for office end users and that the cost could be less

Reasons for choosing SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop

It had a better interface and usability for less experienced end users

    Pros:
I tested with SUSE Linux for checking the feasibility of providing it to my students as a Windows alternative and for teaching Linux Kernel concepts such as file system permissions, RBAC access control, malware implementation using Python, BASH shell scripting, ... SUSE has a very decent and captivating desktop environment with streamlined processes for graphically configuring TCP/IP networking and adding/removing/updating packages. I would say that SUSE has the most professional desktop that makes it a real cheaper alternative to Windows/OSX operating systems. I also used SUSE for Python development using several Python IDEs and the reference IDLE. Students enjoyed doing the networking experiments and the shell scripting using SUSE. Haven't got any serious complaint regarding its user-friendliness.
    Cons:
It would be great to have a free version for education purposes provided to students. We have used a trial version which is not always appealing to students and learners.

    Pros:

    Pros:
The main inspiration that made us test SUSE Linux is the amazing graphical desktop interface that makes it really appealing to students using Linux for the first time. The collaboration tools included makes it a perfect and cheap replacement for a Windows OS. I tested SUSE Linux for introducing my students to Linux BASH shell scripting and I didn't want them to be intimidated by the use of Linux for the first time. SUSE Linux was so appealing to them and many of them had the inception that they can be a viable replacement for Windows or MAC OSX. Moreover, I was impressed with the networking support in SUSE Linux. I tried several server configurations on it and it was capable of handling the job very efficiently on the business logic layer using Apache Tomcat and on the data persistence layer using MySQL.
    Cons:
This product is not free. SUSE has an OpenSUSE free community edition but we would like to keep the free Linux-spirit out there. Though the cost is not high and it is totally justified in the features available.
