### Most mentioned pros

- Moreover, the Passwork team provide fast-response support and improved the solution over time, adding the most needed features and performance improvements required to support very large compagnies/very high number of entries.
- It provides a reliable and user‑friendly solution for securely managing passwords within a team.
- The only real friction point comes from its user‑management capabilities, which could be more flexible, but the core functionality works very well.

### Most mentioned cons

- The most problem we had was with the login, particularly with the fact that Passwork does not support LDAP email login (it cant use the email AD Attribute).
- Minor interface colums width is not always optimized.
- Personally I find the sharing with folders with roles a little clunky, it takes me a little time to remind myself of the process each time.

### Sleek UI and Easy Maintenance – A Solid Password Manager

- Overall rating: 4/5
- Reviewer: Jan K.
- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: Chemicals

- Product usage: Used daily for less than 2 years

Passwork has improved significantly since version 7. It’s now a well-designed and easy-to-manage password manager that fits well into our enterprise environment. The clean UI, reliable update process, and straightforward setup make it a strong choice for teams looking for an on-premise solution.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The modern and simplified UI introduced in version 7 is intuitive and visually appealing. Updates via PowerShell modules are simple and quick—this used to be more complex before version 7. Setup and daily use are straightforward, even for non-technical users.

#### Cons

The search function can be unreliable. Sometimes entries don’t show up even when the search terms seem correct, which can be frustrating. We're still waiting for the promised desktop application and offline functionality, which would make Passwork more versatile, especially in restricted or offline environments.

#### Reasons for choosing Passwork

On-premise deployment: Unlike 1Password and Trend Micro, Passwork gives us full control over where our data is stored. This was critical for meeting internal security and compliance requirements. Team and access management: Passwork offers granular user permissions, folder-level access control, and easy management for teams—all in a clean and simple interface. No subscription lock-in: Passwork offers a one-time licensing model for self-hosted environments, which is more cost-effective long-term compared to ongoing cloud subscriptions. Active development: Since version 7, the product has improved significantly in terms of UI/UX and update management (especially via PowerShell).

#### Reasons for switching to Passwork

We used KeePass for several years, but as our team grew, it became increasingly difficult to manage shared access, keep the database synchronized, and maintain proper audit controls. We needed a more collaborative, centralized, and web-based solution with role-based permissions and team management. Passwork offered all of that, with a cleaner UI, on-premise deployment, and simplified user administration which made the switch a logical step for us.

#### Vendor response

Thank you for your detailed review! We’re glad to hear that Passwork’s recent updates have improved your experience. We’ve shared your feedback about search with our development team. As for desktop apps and offline functionality: these features are on our roadmap and scheduled for release in Q3 this year. Thanks again for sharing your feedback — it helps us make Passwork even better!

Subpar to say the least. A great concept gone abandoned :(

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Good back-end UI. It is easy to use with easy-to-understand navigation.

#### Cons

Unfortunately, there are several very important features missing from Passwork (cloud). The Chrome extension leaves a lot to be desired. There is no Autofill. There is no Autocapture. There is no team sharing with the option of hiding the Passwords from specific team members. I brought this up to the founders & devs several times & they keep promising updates. but it has been two years & still nothing. Not even close. It's a shame, because this really had potential. Oh well, I am done waiting & I will be moving forward with other Password Managers.

#### Reasons for switching to Passwork

I needed a team Password management solution. This seemed nice, but at the end, it was a big fail.

### Streamlined and well designed password manager

Our company uses Passwork for four years now as central hub for all kind of sensitive information share. Users have basically stopped sending each others passwords per mail or chat (admin: yay!) because the passwork inbox feature has been widely appreciated as main spot to recieve sensitive access information. Thanks to the full REST capability, Passwork has also become the main automatic access broker in our company. Software products and tools store passwords and API token in Passwork, others recieve them. Automation is fast and easy to code.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The user expirience is quite flawless, everything runs smoothly, feels well designed and responds without page loads. For the customer "feature requests" are available in the customer center. Sharing passwords with inboxes is really well made. Ressource requirement is low, runs well on limited VMs. TOTP feature and custom fields (and attachments) allow for more shares than just passwords.

#### Cons

Sometimes smaller bugs slip through testing, but usually get fixed quickly. With the newest major release (7) some design choices are odd. New setup feels like a downgrade compared to previous git cloning. However these are minorities. There is few to dislike about the product.

#### Reasons for switching to Passwork

Centralized hosting is a must these days for company use.

#### Vendor response

Thank you for your review and positive feedback about Passwork!

### Very clear and easy to use password manager for SME

The Support Team is very helpful and when we noticed some features missing after the upgrade from version 6 to 7, the Passwork Team quickly re-implemented these features. Initial setup went smooth, too. The web interface is very clear and self-explanatory, so I hardly received any questions from users.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The web interface shows Name, Login, URL and Tags for each entry of the password list, which makes it easy to find the correct password. A Self-Hosting Option via Docker is available and works very well.

#### Cons

Initially I missed the possibility to choose from a list of tags, when adding tags to a password. That got resolved in Passwork 7. Now you can pick a tag from a list which helps to reduce the number of similar tags.

#### Reasons for choosing Passwork

The Bitwarden interface didn't fit our needs. We prefer the way Passwork shows more information about each password entry in a list.

#### Vendor response

Thank you for your positive review and for your feedback about our Support team! We are pleased to hear that Passwork meets your needs and appreciate your support in helping us make it even better.

Overall, it's been a great help so far. Passwords have been easier to manage and share. Access is simple, and employees enjoy using the software. From an IT perspective, installation was also straightforward, and updates are also easy to install.

#### Cons

The integration in other Applications. Similar Products can do it a little better with an Application installed on the device.

#### Reasons for choosing Passwork

I already had experience with Passwork and was able to complete the implementation with ease. Plus, the price was much more attractive in the long run.

Before Passwork, we were using a decentralized password manager that required an installation onto each local PC. Realizing how cumbersome this was, we sought a solution that was centrally managed and provided appropriate RBAC controls. We ended up comparing Passwork and PassBolt. Although similar, Passwork came out ahead due to its capability to have a separate admin account that was not required to be tied to any one user. We have been extremely satisfied with Passwork and continue to be. We always anticipate updates and releases because we know they will bring quality changes.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5

- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

- Self-hosted option that's non-Docker/containerized - Easy updates - Clean interface - Helpful and responsive support - Competitive pricing

#### Cons

Although not important to me, some of my coworkers have indicated that the browser extension needs improvement. If I remember correctly, things like site detection and filling in fields.

#### Reasons for choosing Passwork

Capability for separate admin account that was not tied to any one user

Overwhelmingly positive and user-friendly, especially after everything is setup.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

It is functional and light, easy to use, with capability to retain full control over your data via deployment of self-hosted version. It is also relatively cheap for a business-use perspective, perfect for smaller to medium-size companies.

#### Cons

Installation of self-hosted version can get a bit tricky if you're not well versed in Linux and DB management. UI could be a little bit more polished and allow for more customization. However, nothing that would impact the overall value and use capabilities of the software.

#### Reasons for choosing Passwork

Self-hosting options was crucial for us, as well as low-cost compared to competitors.

#### Reasons for switching to Passwork

It was outdated and couldn't be easily used for an enterprise/business needs, leaving many things to be desired.

I was looking for an on premise solution to store and manage our passwords. Multiuser with different roles and rights was a must, LDAP integration a nice add on. Passwork ticked all the boxes. They were realy helpful in the testing phase (demo license and expanded it to do some more tests) and ultimately helped with the integration of our AD user lsit (was a bit tricky to setup but works flawless ever since). Performance is very good and the best thing is the near zero enduser problems - its so intuitive, that none of the 30 users had any further questions after first introducing the software. We're using the browser plugin and secure the access to the actual frontend with a certificate - works really well.

#### Cons

We needed a new cost-effective solution that was hosted within the EU and preferrably in our own datacentre which we got and the support was fast and competent to answer the questions we had.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Passwork offers an on-prem solution that helps GDPR-compliance and integrates with our Active Directory which makes onboarding new users easy and ensures that we do not have users that have left the company that still have access to our systems. The import from our previous solution was very easy and intuitive. The installation process is well documented but requires a lot of components to be installed and configured so it may be a little hard to debug if you go wrong somewhere. Our installation did however go fine. The system does not have as many features as other solutions we tested, but it does just enough, is easy and fast to use and the price/performance is excellent.

#### Cons

We miss reporting features for that can help identify passwords that should be changed when an employee leaves the company based upon the passwords the employee have accessed. Moving passwords between folders is tedious when moving multiple passwords because they have to be moved individually. The tags cannot be limited to a specific list we create so we can end up with multiple tags invented by each user. The automatic logout should be configurable instead of 10-minutes or no automatic logout and if the automatic logout could be configured differently according to where the end-user connects from (internal/external/trusted-IP's) it would be great.

#### Pros

As an Office Manager, I like the ability for employees to share their vaults with me so that we have those records if they are out of the office or even after they leave.

#### Cons

I understand the need for the Master Password but I really wish there was a way for the individual user to reset it if they forget it. This is the biggest headache that we have is that employee's can't log in because they don't remember their Master Password and so we have to start from scratch with a new account.

I have been using Passwork for the past few months now and I can no longer live without it. It has allowed me to increase the complexity of my passwords while not having to worry about forgetting them. The system is very easy to use but is still very secure and safe. Great value!
