MINDBODY is a cloud-based club management and appointment scheduling solution designed for the needs of small to midsize businesses. The product is primarily used by gyms, fitness and personal training centers, salons, spas and massage centers, wellness centers, dance schools and yoga studios.

MINDBODY offers features such as scheduling with wait list management, appointment booking through Facebook, automated scheduling of email and texts and online bookings. Memberships can be managed through MINDBODY as well.

MINDBODY also features a toolset for marketing management. With MINDBODY, notifications and alerts can be set up for customers, targeted marketing campaigns can be launched and marketing reports can be generated and assessed.

MINDBODY also offers staff management features, which include check-in and check-out management, role-based permissions, payroll management and calendar integration.

MINDBODY offers custom API access that enables third-party developers to integrate their platforms with the solution. The product offers a marketplace for applications that can be integrated with MINDBODY, such as Spafinder Wellness 365, Xero, Perkville, RelateLOOP, Zcubator and WaiverKing.

Great costumer service through submission form as well as update blog and other tools for questions along the way. Various tiers that allow you to choose a feature/price level that works for you and your business.

Cons

Comprehensive software can be quite challenging for some to use and navigate. If this is a software you choose, make sure you get adequate training and have a list of questions ready- some "simple" tasks can take several steps.

MB provides good management solutions but holds subscribers hostage

I feel like a hostage on a system that is great, but constantly trying to drive up its prices, which is totally arbitrary and not transparent. Not a great business partner, but a pretty good system.

Reasonable Merchant Processing (have to go with MB's Provider)

Cons

Prices increase twice a year, expect to see this continue
ownership change fee, so expect to pay extra if you transfer site owner

They have a good customer service department that can help tutor you in areas that are not intuitive.

Pros

It makes quarterly or year end tax calculations a breeze. It can separate different types of income quickly and efficiently, and can go back several years.

Cons

It is quite pricey, so a start-up studio would want to wait until they have a steady income stream with a growing client base. Also, several of the features are complicated to use which can be frustrating.

Pros

Not much positive about this software. Once setup (see bellow) kind of works, poor layout. My clients didn't like the way and trouble they had to go through to book.

Cons

Can't send sms reminders. Leave a message they'll call you back... Maybe in 2-5 days, emails worst. takes 3 to 5 hours to setup with staff over the phone. Staff don't seem to know the product. Very hard to change classes (days/times). After clicking any changes screen flashes, nothing to tell you that it has saved changes.

One of favorite things about Mindbody is the fact that it's so easy for our patients to pay for our services before or after getting treated without having to go to the receptionist desk. As well as paying for classes thru the Mindbody app.

Cons

I wish Mindbody had medical billing thru the app with a clearinghouse. That'll be so convient for our business.

Not Impressed with Mind Body just don't go there

Mind Body you really need to buck up your ideas, you have a rigid system that is overpriced in an increasing market full of new software. Many of my friends and colleagues are moving over to Go Team Up and let me tell you, the customer service is second to none.

Cons

Receiving payments from credit card processing was a NIGHTMARE, 10 days to get money and 8 months of constantly contacting them to see if anything could be done. In the end they asked me to shut my merchant account down and set a new one up and this did nothing.
Customer services is awful, there are a few who answer the phone who clearly don't want to help you out and reply with short answers making you feel awkward and stupid for even asking.
They put their prices up and gave me NO warning of this, price increase, disgraceful!!!!!
Reporting system is limited and to find the right one you've got to contact support who take ages to answer the phone, there are so many ways to run a report that it's hard to learn the process.
Their system is hard to use, it's not user-friendly.
They have no loyalty for customers, when I gave notice to leave they accepted it and moved on, no one contacted me to even find out why I was leaving.

I really like how easy MindBody is to use if you have a small business. I also really appreciate the customer service even if it takes sometime to reach a tech.

Cons

BRANDED WEB. Because MindBody bought HealCode, but hasn't made a lot of updates to it, HealCode (Branded Web) does not provide the features or functionality needed to use it with MindBody/our website. The only answers I ever get are "No" and "We are working on it."

I can see great potential with this software, but the improvements are made to function better for Yoga studio/Gym. There should be something that makes this software geared to the type of business that you are running. Hair salons carry A LOT of inventory and that are of this software is a sore spot. Being able to keep the calendar open and functioning while checking someone out is a must, as pre-booking an appointment usually happens simultaneous of the guest being checked out. Very pretty look, good app, but needs some work to be more marketable to the Hair world

The scheduling is so easy to use and most importantly it is easy on the eyes. You look at the schedule and it makes perfect sense. You aren't having to hover over anything to figure anything out, what you see is what is it. The payment taking is also so easy. I have been using this for over 5 years now and they continue to make updates that are so helpful. The reporting system is also another huge plus. I honestly can get every report I need from Mindbody.

I have worked at other establishments with scheduling systems but none of them compared to mindbody.

Likes Least

Sometimes they do get rid of features that I like to use and it throws me off and then I have to figure out a new way of doing the task I am doing.

Recommendations

Watch the tutorial and what they show you is truly what you are getting. It really is that simple to use. It is honestly the best scheduling software you are going to find.

MBO does a good job at storing client data and many people already use the MBO app. The app does not work for us, because we have our own, but if you are trying to build a client base it would be a good too.

Likes Least

It is not set up to work well with studios that have multiple locations and the reporting is not accurate.

Recommendations

MBO is the most widely used software for gyms and studios. It works well for a small business but runs into issues when business get more complex.

It lists classes is in an easy to read format. It is pretty simple to click and add classes you would like to prepay for.

I attended classes at several businesses that utilize this software, however, I have to create a different login for each one. It would be nice if somehow they were linked. For a moment I thought they were because some employees at these establishments have asked me if I have a MindBody account. I did, just not for their specific business. So perhaps the marketing/training/definitions for this could be better.
Also, I am not sure if this is a result of the computers certain establishments are using or the actual software, but the payment process on location is very slow. It can hold up the line at busy times.

Recommendations

This seems to be great for managing a large number of classes offered on a daily basis as well as smaller amounts. I think there is a nice range in showing if a class is full or not compared to just showing the schedule. It seems to cater to the businesses needs well.

Very easy to facilitate clients and customers. As we ramp up, it's a simple CRM to use (much better than plenty others I've worked with).

Pros

It is very easy and intuitive to use. The features are clean and the transition between functionalities are smooth and seamless.

Cons

The only issues I've had with MindBody are logging me out of a default location. I want to always have my main location launch when opening the app but sometimes that isn't the case. Nothing major at all, though.

I have used it multiple times (almost every yoga studio i went to uses it). Overall, I like it. It's great how it shows the upcoming classes and how many spots are left in each class.

Cons

I didn't like the idea that as a user you need to create a different account for each studio. It seems only logical that there would be a single account that I would use for all my studio visits so that I don't have to register again and repeat all my information again. Also, the registration form asks for too much information. Finally, there's a lot of room to improve on the design and user experience.

Called to cancel trial for lack of time to utilize product but secretary was talked-into continuing for 2 months "free of charge" to give more time. Was not informed that the regular billing would continue automatically after the 2 "free" months.
Now they refuse to refund money on a product that was supposed to have been cancelled at the end of the 2 "free" months.

It seemed to be easy to use and useful accessible for the clients to book sessions and adjust scheduling.

Cons

It had too little flexibility. I was told that it would fit the needs of my business and after paying the set up costs, 2 months of use (which was never used do to the incorrect information given to me) and my implentation coach constantly cancelling and rescheduling our calls I found out that it didn't fit any of my business needs.

Mindbody has all the features needed to schedule, manage your customers, and customize the look and feel of the software to your brand for daily operations.

Cons

Biggest issue is price. There are several other software options available that offer many if not all of the features of Mindbody. I used the product for about 2 years. There is an increase in price. If I recall, there were 4 price increases in 2 years. Paying for features that apply to other business is a BIG minus.

Alllows me to accept payments from clients with relative ease after their payment info is on their profile. Bookkeeping and tracking of all sales.

Pros

The ability to download reports on many different stats, and further the ability to download them as different formats, like excel and pdf,

This allows for easy tracking and book keeping.

Cons

-Payment enter information for a user can be a challenge, they need to make a login and password. This is ok if they use the MINDBODY app for other health and fitness services but most of mine don't, and they don't want to make another use account. So instead I have to take their payment info by phone, when it's be easier for me to send them an electronic form to fill out and it would auto populate their client profile.

-calendar is hard to use for blocking time off, for example if away on vacation etc. needs to be more like google iCal, it would be even better if it could sync with google iCal (the reverse) to see if there are any calendar appointments that would otherwise make that person unavailable at that time. calendar needs to be more adaptable and allow overlap of different things if necessary.

Scheduling appointments is much easier than our previous system, when the site is functioning properly. Running payroll and reports is much easier than our previous system.

Cons

Frequent service interruptions - system was down for 3 hours one day, causing delays in bookings, checking in and payment processing. It is very hard to ask a client if they don't mind if we charge a credit card for service after they have left (when system functions again) or asking people if we can call them back to schedule an appointment because system is down. I had been calling periodically for over 2 weeks because of lag time on site, customer service blamed it on our internet provider (Charter). After our outage, they admitted that they had problems with a software update and were pulling it back to fix bugs. This would have been nice to know from the beginning. I would love to switch software, but it seems that all booking software has issues and the time it takes to import data and appointments may not be worth it. My hope is that Mindbody works out the bugs and can figure out a way to maintain functionality of it's site. Also, when calling customer service, they generally look up an answer on their own Help site - which I have already read. Seems like everyone is scripted, not actually trained in technical support.

The benefits are unpredictable. I've been using it because it's all I've got right now, but am shopping around for something better

Pros

At first it was easy enough to use, but the more comfortable I became in using its features the more trouble I started having.

Cons

Clients come in for appointments they thought they successfully booked but didn't. Trying to schedule a simple break in between appointments becomes impossible if I have breaks scheduled at other times and other days. I have wound up deleting the mobile ap from my phone so I can just go to the full site, but support says I shouldn't do this because their full site isn't designed to be used on mobile devices. So, what appears to be many awesome features turns out to be worthless. We were better off using pencil and paper.

in my case nothing - absolute waste of time and money

The customer service was initially very responsive but then as soon as I had an actual issue to resolve and it was not interested in buying or upgrading my service the service quality dropped and I ended up waiting for weeks to get a reply.

Cons

I wasted many hours to customize the site and a substantial amount of money but have not received a single booking from the platform. AVOID. There are so many other sites that do this much for free.
