Paw Partner is software for independent pet care businesses — boarding, daycare, grooming, and training. Founded in March 2020 in Bellingham, WA. Privately held, started and owned by independent pet care business owners — not by private equity, not by venture capital.

We answer to customers, not investors.

Austin and Lindsay built Paw Partner because they run their own 130-dog-a-day facility, and every software they tried was either too expensive, too rigid, or built by people who had never worked a pet facility.

What makes us different isn’t the feature list. It’s who we answer to. We run our own boarding and daycare facility, so we know what it costs to run one — which is why we charge what’s fair, not what we could squeeze you for. Support is staffed by people who’ve actually worked in the industry. They’ve cleaned a kennel. They know what your Friday morning looks like before a holiday weekend.

Amazing. I couldn’t have dreamt of a better team to help our business with this transition. The entire Paw Partner staff has been nothing but friendly, helpful, and continuously gone the extra mile for us. The product is easy to use and saves us both time and energy. Paw partner came to our rescue.

Pros:

There was a lot that drew us to choose paw partner. Integrating our boarding, grooming, and pool therapy into one system. Automated confirmation messages, client access to check reservations, request new ones, and update their pets info from an app or website. The ease of tracking commissions and fixing commissions if there are any mistakes, the great team Paw Partner has put together to walk us through and continue to help us as we’ve used the product. Friends and foes system to help us place dogs in friendly play groups without a ton of notes in a word doc or cumbersome excel sheets. Helpful color coded tags to help identify any special needs an animal may have. Easily identifiable expired vaccinations and icons for intact pets. Everything about Paw Partner took what we were already doing, or trying to do, streamlined it, made it easier, and less time consuming.

Cons:

After working with our previous software for 15 years the switch to someone new took some time but the Paw Partner team always went the extra mile in helping us. Whether it was hopping on Zoom or a call to walk me through setting something up, making video tutorials to help us train our staff, giving us guides and helping us reach out to our clients to inform them of our switch to Paw Partner.

We originally acquired Kennel Suite in 2005 and had used it ever since. With any product that’s 15 years old with support for KS ending in 2017 the program slowly declined. Becoming increasingly cumbersome, crashing unexpectedly, and refusing to start. It was clear by 2020 we needed to replace our system.

Pros:

The level of support and guidance has been outstanding. From the very first meeting, the team took the time to walk me through every module in detail, explain pricing, services, and setup, and make sure everything was customized to my business. They handled the entire onboarding process smoothly and integrated all of my information into the system perfectly. I truly feel supported and understood, which has made this transition stress free.

Cons:

The only challenge so far is that there is a lot to learn, simply because the system offers so many features. However, the support team has been incredibly patient and thorough, so the learning curve has been very manageable.

RUN AWAY FROM PAW PARTNER

This system is horribly clunky to use. It has \*very\* limited customization options. There are very basic functions that it lacks (can't override a booking, can't add notes to a reservation, run cards print in a way that is very confusing and hard to read, entering feeding and medication instructions is a HUGE headache and is overly complicated, report cards are limited to one update and only 10 photos per stay. The demos and trainings are very vague and unhelpful. Our date transfer was botched which caused major headaches that we are STILL dealing with over a month later. I'd love to get rid of this software altogether but now we are stuck with it. We may end up changing again in another year. This system seems like it would be great ONLY if you're moving from paper to this. The amount of "feature requests" we had to put in during this transfer was shocking. This system seems like it's too new, too

There are some unique features that are nice. I don't have many positive things to say about it and our customer service experience during out data transfer was so bad that they comped us two months.

Cons:

Very limited customization options, not user friendly for staff, basic needed functions unavailable.

Pros:

Paw Partner has been instrumental for my business growth. Since onboarding, I have grown 30% YOY using them. The portal for clients is user-friendly, the pay system is top notch, and they really set this up for a business that depends on automatic/online use for customers. By having Paw Partner, I save $30K+ a year not having a receptionist. It is a fantastic value for the money, easy onboarding and easy to learn. Hands down the BEST CRM program I have ever had in my 16 years of experience in this industry.

Cons:

The ONLY thing I do not like about Paw Partner is that if I need to change a payment method to pay my monthly fee, I have to call it in. My card was compromised and I also needed to change the bank account information for automatic payments. It would be nice to have an account where I can do that myself and not bother them.

The team! They've been incredibly helpful with every single issue and respond quickly. We also love the feed feature! We're slowly getting more and more of our clientele interacting with the app and the feed.

Cons:

Coming from PetExec, there are quite a few features that are set up very different (like attaching grooming/daycare to boarding reservations) and we've had to change how we set some things up.

So far, Paw Partner has been wonderful. It really is easy to use and it's so nice to have all our client's information at our fingertips. We are able to feed, medicate, and even assign individual kennels to the dogs right from our phones.

Pros:

I really like how Paw Partner allows our clients to make reservations online. This really helps limit our phone calls when making reservations. But it is also very easy to use and even our clients can agree how convenient it is.

Cons:

I don't love how it is set up. I wish there was more ways to customize it. With our business, we feed at certain times so it would be nice for the "reports" to reflect those times instead of morning/evening feeds. Some of our clients eat lunch, or have snacks at 9pm.

We couldn't make reservations online, or see our client's feeding/medication reports. Kennelsoft was also extremely difficult to learn and couldn't get it on any device, except at the reception area. We needed an upgrade.

Support is quick and easy to get. No question or request is a bad one- I am always welcomed.

Cons:

Would like to be able to change service name. For example, my local area does not allow for me to use the word 'boarding' due to being home based. Instead, I must list my services as 'overnight pet sitting'. Additionally, I utilize the 'Training' portion for "drop ins" at clients home. Both titles of "Boarding" and "Training" cannot be edited.

We have been very nervous about making the switch over to Paw Partner but after many training sessions and especially those with \[sensitive content hidden\] our minds have been put to ease. \[sensitive content hidden\] has communicated every single detail and feature in a way that is so easy to understand, answered ALL of our questions personally (and promptly!), and has actually made the process and training sessions fun! All of the team members have been super personable, kind, helpful and patient, which makes such a stressful switch less scary!

First and foremost, the customer service — hands down. We also love the app, the picture timeline, intuitive design and all of the details you can put into the pets.

Cons:

There is nothing that we do not like about it — if any “con,” it would only be that we are just missing a few features that we have gotten used to but they have been heard, understood and noted by the team members as well as met with solutions to work around them.
