Healthcare document control at it's finest......and so much more!

I am the Policy/Procedure Coordinator at our facility. With over 4,000 policies located in folders on a shared Intranet site, uploading that many documents to an automated system seemed intimidating at the very least. After considering other options, we selected MCN's products including Policy Manager, MCN Policy Library and MCN StayAlert. We also thought it was a plus that the system required no IT resources. From my initial contact to the present, I couldn't be more impressed with the entire MCN Team's dedication to assuring their product works as intended for our organization. Prior to automating our process, we had frustrations that included: lost documents, many duplications and wasted time spent on searching. This product has flexible workflows that allows an approval process to be directed to the appropriate group or easily redirected if needed. Their Policy Library contains thousands of customizable, up to date policies that we can download for our use as well. This has also been utilized as a reference for us prior to creation of a new document. A unique feature that I found helpful is MCN StayAlert! This feature sends daily emails that summarize updates from top regulatory agencies (FDA, CMS, OSHA, etc) assisting us with making necessary changes in practice. The searchablity of our policies is now a benefit that all staff can appreciate with the added help of keywords and metadata attached to each document. This was very apparent when we had a visit from a regulatory agency shortly after going live with Policy Manager as many policies from multiple manuals were requested. Another valuable feature is the capability to assign competencies to staff to acknowledge they understand the contents of that particular document. We can then run reports as needed to monitor completion. This is helpful for new employees as well as policies reviewed yearly. Finally, I can't say enough about the Customer Service at MCN. With the addition of a "Chat" button, the prompt attention if phoned, and the weekly webinars, it is evident that they are committed to the ongoing success of the process at our facility. I would highly recommend Policy Manger to any healthcare organization to meet their document control needs.

Great product and keeps getting better

We continue to find uses for Policy Manager far beyond policies. We use it to facilitate the onboarding process for new hires and as a repository for workflows for our electronic medical record. The new features that continue to be added make the system even more valuable to us. The customer support offered by MCN Healthcare is superb. They are very responsive not only to me as the administrator of the site but to employees who contact them for assistance. I particularly like the live chat function to get help quickly.

Pros

It is user friendly and intuitive. Customer support is fantastic.

Cons

The customer cannot alphabetize some pages and that's annoying. You have to call MCN for them to alphabetize some pages.

User Friendly Software

This is a very easy, user friendly software that once learned, is a cinch to teach to others. We have used this software for just about a year and are very pleased with it. The company provides exceptional customer service and support.
