## Google Slides Pros and Cons

We analyzed 6,497 verified reviews for Google Slides to find out what actual users really think.

Select to learn more

Real-Time Team Collaboration

Google Slides stands out for its real-time collaboration features, allowing multiple users to edit, comment, and review presentations simultaneously. Teams can work together from different locations, track changes, and communicate efficiently, eliminating version control issues and making group projects more productive.

Intuitive And Accessible Design

The platform is praised for its user-friendly interface, making it approachable for both beginners and experienced users. Navigation is straightforward, with simple menus and controls that reduce the learning curve. Users find it easy to start projects, organize content, and focus on their work without unnecessary complexity.

Flexible Presentation Creation Tools

Google Slides makes it easy to create, edit, and present visually appealing slides from any device. Users appreciate its intuitive interface, integration with other Google tools, and the ability to add charts, images, and videos. Templates and customization options help users build professional presentations quickly, while real-time collaboration streamlines teamwork.

Reliance On Internet Access

A common drawback is the need for a stable internet connection to access, edit, or present slides. Users report difficulties working offline, issues with saving progress during connectivity problems, and the risk of losing access or data if the connection drops unexpectedly.

File Export And Compatibility Issues

Users frequently encounter formatting problems when downloading or converting presentations between Google Slides and PowerPoint. Exported files may lose quality, have layout changes, or require extra time to fix, making cross-platform sharing and offline access less reliable.

Limited Advanced Functionality

Many users note that Google Slides lacks several advanced features found in competitors like PowerPoint. Customization options, design flexibility, and certain editing tools are more limited, which can be frustrating for those needing more robust or specialized presentation capabilities.

Pros:

Ease of use, PowerPoint is more “clunky” it does not flow as well as Google slides. Maybe is a visual or aesthetic.

Cons:

I think it should open up more premade slides. I’m in Emergency management and that field has yet to be covered. I think it would be beneficial for the future.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

Google was simpler and smoother. I definitely prefer it

Pros:

I like that Google Slides is free and easy to use. Power Point has more features, but Google Slides is the way that schools are heading and many of my Power Points can be opened in Google Slides.

Cons:

I feel like the sound component does not transfer from PowerPoint to Google Slides well. It is a piece that is missing.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

It was required in my public school setting and as part of our new Google Chromebooks.

I use it on a weekly basis. I create a ton of slide presentations and like that I don’t have to save the slides to a thumb drive. I just need to login and open the presentation. Also, like that, I can pull a sly presentation up on my phone for review and preparation.

Pros:

The fact that it provides nearly all the features of PowerPoint but doesn't cost a penny. Making it super accessible for students and youth.

Cons:

I think there's room for improvement as there is in all developing apps/ softwares. More features aren't necessary but would be a nice to have.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

PowerPoint and Microsoft softwares in general cost you quite a bit and for people like students etc. whose parents might not be able to afford basic learning tools such as it, cannot sustain the use of a subscription based software. Slides allows you to use and access all it's incredible if not better features for free and with your fellow team members at once.
