Pros:

The improved and enhanced ability to create custom user and computer configurations along with the ability to customize patching to support flexibility throughout our environment.

Cons:

3rd party application patching is still a challenge. Most 3rd party apps require a task kill to be ran in order for the patch to occur and the product does not offer that function within the Deployment Policies so we often time have those patches fail to install.

Pros:

I really enjoy the endpoint management side of this product. The ability to issue a command to an endpoint and it be ran and installed within minutes since it is an agent based product is very nice.

Cons:

The only downside i would see of this product is there is a lot of tabs to click through, so understanding where to go for each section is sometimes a bit tough. But unlike other products on the market this one has information and KBs on almost anything you can think of.

Reasons for switching to ManageEngine Endpoint Central

The Ease of setup with Endpoint central is unmatched compared to SCCM.

Pros:

ManageEngine Endpoint Central allowed us to explore patch management and the automated patch deployment which was available within. Beyond this, it highlighted vulnerabilities in a clear layout which allowed us to plan and action on an each device basis. We also have found that customer support is great with multiple levels of support as well as the chat feature which allows you to speak to someone very fast.

Cons:

Configuration was tricky to begin with, with a lot of self teaching on how to use the product. I found that support times can be slightly longer than desired at times but I understand the resource limitations that this service may have.

Reasons for switching to ManageEngine Endpoint Central

This was a company decision. Not something I was a part of.

Gets the job done across a mixed endpoint fleet

5

It's a solid platform and for the price point compared to alternatives we evaluated, it delivers good value. It's not a "set it and forget it" tool, you need to invest time upfront to structure your patch policies, device groups, and deployment windows properly. But once that's done, day-to-day operations run smoothly. Support has been responsive on the few occasions we've raised tickets. I would recommend it for mid-sized IT teams managing distributed fleets, just go in knowing the reporting side will need some workarounds if you have compliance reporting needs.

4

Functionality

Pros:

We manage a mix of Windows 11 and MacBooks spread across multiple geographies and Endpoint Central Cloud has honestly made that a lot more manageable than it used to be. The patch management is where it really earns its keep. OS-level and third-party app patching from one console, with automated deployment policies, means my team isn't spending weekends chasing updates manually. Software deployment is straightforward once you've got the packages configured, and the remote control feature is something our helpdesk uses daily. The cloud version specifically is a big plus — no infra to babysit, and agents connect back reliably even for remote employees.

Cons:

Reporting is the biggest gap for us when it comes to compliance based audit reports. When you need to demonstrate patch compliance for an audit, the built-in reports don't always give you the granularity or the right terminology that auditors are looking for. You end up exporting to Excel and massaging the data yourself. The UI has improved but it's still quite dense, finding a specific setting when you're in a hurry isn't always quick. And occasionally patch deployment failures come back with error codes.

Reasons for choosing ManageEngine Endpoint Central

Previously used the Endpoint Central, had experience using it. And pricing and deal closure

Reasons for switching to ManageEngine Endpoint Central

Endpoint Central wins on simplicity, unified management (MDM + patching + remote + deployment in one console), and cost — making it the better fit for mid-market teams that need to move fast without a dedicated tool-specialist on staff.
