enhance your experience. At $170 a year or $16 a month, this plan unlocks a host of automation features such as late payment reminders and auto-import and auto-merge of bank transactions. \*\*Pros:\*\* - \*\*Automated transaction import:\*\* Connect your bank accounts and credit cards to automatically import and categorize transactions. - \*\*Receipt scanning:\*\* Capture and organize receipts using Wave's mobile app and OCR technology. - \*\*Discounted payment processing:\*\* Benefit from reduced transaction fees when accepting online payments from your customers. \*\*Cons:\*\* - \*\*Subscription cost:\*\* The monthly or annual subscription fee may not fit every business's budget. - \*\*Learning curve:\*\* With more advanced features comes a slightly steeper learning curve compared to the Starter Plan. - \*\*Limited users:\*\* The Pro Plan may not be suitable for larger teams that require multiple user accounts. \_\_Add-ons and Optional Services\_\_ Wave offers a range of optional add-ons and services to cater to the unique needs of your business. These include payroll processing, bookkeeping support, and advanced receipt scanning. While these services come at an additional cost, they can significantly enhance your accounting experience and save you valuable time. - \*\*Payroll:\*\* Starting at $20-25 per month, Wave's payroll service simplifies the process of paying your employees and handling taxes. - \*\*Bookkeeping:\*\* Get expert assistance from Wave's team of bookkeepers, with plans starting at $149-199 per month. - \*\*Receipt scanning:\*\* Upgrade your receipt management with unlimited scanning and organization from $8 a month or $72 a year with the Starter plan. Note this add-on is already included in the Pro plan. By offering a mix of free and paid plans, along with optional add-ons, Wave ensures that there's a solution for every business, regardless of size or budget. Whether you're just starting out or looking to scale your operations, Wave's flexible pricing and powerful features make it a top choice for managing your finances. \_\_Conclusion\_\_ Wave provides flexible options designed to cater to businesses of various sizes and financial management needs. - \*\*For freelancers and micro-businesses:\*\* The Starter Plan is an ideal choice, offering a robust set of features at no cost. This plan allows users to create unlimited invoices and estimates and manage their cash flow without any financial commitment. However, as the business grows, the limitations of the free plan may become apparent, necessitating an upgrade. - \*\*For small to medium-sized businesses:\*\* The Pro Plan is a comprehensive solution that offers advanced features such as automatic bank transaction imports, receipt capture, and late payment reminders. The monthly or annual subscription fee is justified by the time-saving automation and the discounted online payment processing rates. This plan is perfect for businesses looking to streamline their financial management processes and scale their operations. When deciding on a plan, businesses should carefully assess their current financial management needs, projected growth, and budget. By aligning these factors with the appropriate pricing plan, a business can optimize its financial efficiency and lay a strong foundation for future success. Wave's pricing structure offers the flexibility to start small and scale up as needed, making it an attractive choice for businesses at various stages of their journey.

#### Pros

So far, Wave has been wonderful for me to use. I mostly use the invoicing system and it works great for my needs.

#### Cons

The con that I've had is that the debit card feature that was once offered was ended. I looked forward to using it more.

#### Reasons for switching to Wave

My free trial was up and I needed a free invoicing product.

Wave is awesome. It is easy to use, looks up to date, it has great pricing and also has a phone app that makes things easy like applying payments and checking invoices when out and about.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Most everything is free so it is a great value. The price of payment processing is comparable to other services. The invoices and auto invoices work quite well and look nice and it is easy for my customers to pay.

#### Cons

The most annoying thing is the invoice names especially for auto invoices. I use what was done for invoice names and numbers rather than just a number. So it now makes the next invoice number as whatever the last invoice name was and just add one to it so they don't make sense so I have to manually make a name.

#### Reasons for choosing Wave

Price was one of the main things and heard some not so great things about quickbooks the online version.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

The cost of Wave compared to other similar options, is far better. The integration with a variety of banking institutions makes accounting in real-time possible.

#### Cons

I would like to see more reports available under the reporting tab. It does not allow for budget input making it slightly more difficult to measure true spending against what was planned.

#### Reasons for choosing Wave

The price and the ease of use were the deciding factors.

### Do Not Use Wave Payments — Funds Held After Customer Paid

- Overall rating: 1/5

My overall experience with Wave was extremely negative and damaging to my business. I used Wave for the first time to create a proposal and invoice for a legitimate completed project. My customer paid through Wave by ACH/bank payment, and the funds were withdrawn from the customer, but Wave did not release the payment to my business account. Instead, Wave later claimed they were unable to verify my business and stated that the funds could be held for 70 days. They did not provide a clear explanation, did not request specific verification documents before holding the payment, and did not give me a meaningful opportunity to resolve the issue. As a small business owner, this is completely unacceptable. I rely on timely payment for completed work, and this experience caused unnecessary disruption, stress, and damage to my customer relationship. I would never use Wave again under any circumstances, and I strongly recommend that other businesses look for other invoicing and payment processing options.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 1/5
- Value for money: 1/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 1/5

#### Pros

Nothing significant. The proposal and invoice setup seemed simple at first, but that became irrelevant once Wave accepted my customer’s ACH payment, withdrew the funds, and then refused to release the payment to my business account.

#### Cons

The worst part of Wave was the payment processing experience. I used Wave for the first time to create a proposal and invoice. My customer paid by ACH/bank payment through Wave, the funds were withdrawn from the customer, and then Wave refused to release the payment to my business account because they claimed they could not verify my business. Wave did not first request specific documents, did not explain exactly what verification failed, and did not give me a meaningful opportunity to resolve the issue. My company is a legitimate registered and insured business, and I can provide EIN documentation, LLC registration, insurance, business banking information, invoice, proposal, customer payment confirmation, and proof of completed work. Instead of releasing the payment, Wave stated that the funds could be held for 70 days and then refunded to the customer. This is unacceptable for a small business. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Wave Payments to any business that depends on timely access to customer payments.

#### Reasons for choosing Wave

I chose Wave because it appeared to be a simple and convenient option for creating proposals, invoices, and accepting customer payments. In hindsight, that was a mistake. I should have used a more reliable payment processing option with better verification, communication, and protection for small businesses.

### It's Been Great for My Business!

It's been a great software to get me started in my business and it's easy for my clients to navigate invoices and payments. That is a win! I am able to track my spending with categories, as well, and that makes it easier to do my taxes at the end of each year.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I use Wave for my accounting and invoicing software. It's super affordable and easy to implement, which was a great starting point when I launched my business! The customer support has always been helpful when I've needed it. The option to create recurring invoices has been amazing, as well as the reports I can pull at the end of each year. Super helpful!

#### Cons

The auto-import for my bank transactions has not been working for a while, and although Wave Customer Support did what they could, I wish this could be more easily resolved. It's been a bit tedious having to manually import them. I also think that if I'm paying for a Pro subscription, I should have fewer fees being taken out. (I canceled the Pro subscription before the year was up.) Furthermore, the receipt uploading is great except that it creates a new transaction. It'd be nice if it could match the receipt with the transaction, since I will later import all transactions from the bank into Wave and that will cause duplicates.

#### Reasons for choosing Wave

Cheaper and easier to use as I was starting my business.

I first started using Wave after trying to learn Quickbooks and finding it frustrating and way too complicated for my small, service-bases business. Wave was free at the time, and it was far more intuitive. I had a couple of questions that were easily answered by searching through Wave's online resources. I'm not a professional bookkeeper, and I felt way more confident using Wave than I did using Quickbooks. I've kept using it for years even after there was a cost to do so because it was definitely worth it. It continues to be easy to use, and now that I have a part time bookkeeper who helps me out, it lets us collaborate very well.

#### Cons

Wave's integration with my bank has not always worked effectively, and that has caused some problems. I'm not clear on whether it's my bank or Wave that's the issue, but a couple of times, the integration stopped working then started working again, and this resulted in some duplicate entries that had to be cleared out. It was simple enough to fix but irritating.

#### Reasons for choosing Wave

Wave was far easier to use than Quickbooks.

#### Reasons for switching to Wave

Kashoo raised their prices a ridiculous amount.

Love the UI and wanted it to be a viable alternative to the other players in the bookkeeping/accounting market but it fell far short and failed in it’s current itteration. Love the free version but it’s super basic and limited but upgrading to paid version is very expensive when using it for more than 1 business and offers inadequate features to do the job vis-a-vis other competitors in the market. If … WAVE would add AI, connectivity to banks and credit cards, and features to operate multiple businesses in the paid subscription I’d use it. As my daily driver vs the competitors.

#### Cons

#### Reasons for switching to Wave

Better UI, ease of use, invoicing and payment capability

Uptime and use are great - I have a few low volume clients and non-profits that cannot afford the other packages - now they are charging for services that were included in the free package - not cool!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Accounting software is free - great for small (micro) businesses just starting out or that only have low volume of transactions. Intuitive from an accountant's perspective

#### Cons

Accounting is free - but now they are removing features from the "Free Accounting" package and charging for them - auto import of bank transactions. Then, limiting the number of users - NOT COOL!

#### Reasons for choosing Wave

The lure of FREE accounting that allowed for importing bank transactions. However, not any more - importing bank transactions now costs a monthly fee.

Wave greatly simplifies accounting. The greatest benefit is clearly the time saved! Many process steps are automated, which saves a considerable amount of time. It eliminates the need for unnecessary analysis using Excel spreadsheets.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I want to express my enthusiasm for Wave. It's an incredibly useful tool that offers me numerous advantages. First of all, I can store and manage all my invoice information in one place - which has significantly simplified managing invoice records! I can even receive automatic notification reminders when payment deadlines are approaching or have been missed - so I'm always on top of things. Furthermore, I have access to detailed reporting tools for monitoring finances as well as real-time updates on the status of each transaction. This tool makes it easy for me to keep everything under control and saves me time. Considering these fantastic features, I'm so glad Wave exists and I'm already looking forward to further improvements in the future!

#### Cons

One of the biggest weaknesses is the user interface, as it is neither intuitive nor user-friendly. Furthermore, it lacks features such as automatic reporting functions for invoice information.
