One of the best qualities of Alma SIS is its ease of use. My teachers love how easy it is to navigate for attendance, grades, etc. Since Alma is so easy to use, just a few clicks, and attendance is done. Also, especially with the integration and sync with Google Classroom, teachers spend little time entering grades. This provides more time to attend to all the other tasks that teachers have on their plates every day. Students and parents also love Alma because of how easy it is to navigate. #### Cons Honestly, nothing. Out of all of the student information systems I have used, both as a parent and an educator, none have come close to the experience I have had with Alma. #### Reasons for choosing Alma SIS Alma beat the competition in every way. One of the board members who was on the selection panel and is also a retired teacher stated that you can really tell that they made this SIS to work for educators, students, and parents. #### Reasons for switching to Alma SIS Tyler was awful in every way. It's easy to navigate and get the information you need with a few clicks. The Spreadsheet data editor is probably the most used part of ALMA for me, as a quick way to get data and pull what you need by fields and groups without a degree in programming. :-) Having the ALMA alert system built into the program is great for sending out urgent messages quickly. #### Cons Honestly, there isn't anything that I like least about ALMA. It takes time to train on a new SIS, and I feel folks may confuse a lack of knowledge with a lack of system performance. The training videos are very helpful, as are the weekly Zoom Q & A's. #### Reasons for switching to Alma SIS Powerschool support could take up to 5 days to respond to a ticket and there was no chat feature. It’s easy to use, and I can see everything I need in one place. I get real-time updates, so I always know where things stand without having to wait. It just makes everything feel way more organized and less stressful. Plus, having access to everything whenever I need it is a big plus! #### Cons One con about Alma is that when I’m working on report cards, I can’t freeze a cell. It makes it super annoying because I have to keep scrolling up and down to check the headers and make sure I’m putting the right information in the right spot. What stands out most is how easily it adapts to the needs of our school. The best part about the program is the customer service- ANY issue I have I can find help and answers in the study guide, and if I get stuck the team on chat is so responsive and helpful. They always help me get to the bottom of my issues within a day or so. A few features that are my favorites are the reports cards and transcripts. We often have transfer credits from other schools or online programs and it is super easy to add grades and credits to older students who need them. Alma helps us to stay organized and on top of our enrollment as well. AMAZING! Support and staff are so knowledgeable. Onboarding was easy. Although setup is always a large portion of time and complexity, the staff made it seem simple and the approach is broken down into steps easy to follow. We are now on year 3 and am so glad we made the change. We utilize the program to have students' potential schedules and schedule requests available. We report students' gradebooks and update them regularly. We also use this as a communication tool.
