### Our Analysis of Docusign's Pricing Plans

We've analyzed the features, benefits, and limitations of DocuSign's pricing plans to help you determine which option aligns best with your electronic signature and document management needs. The provider offers a suite of plans across several categories: eSignature, intelligent agreement management (IAM), and developer API Plans. Each category serves different use cases and organizational requirements.

**eSignature plans**

Docusign offers...

two sets of eSignature plans, one for standard use cases and one for the real estate sector. Understanding the nuances of these plans is essential for making the right choice for your eSignature needs. \*\*Personal and Real Estate Starter plans\*\* These entry-level eSignature plans are designed for individuals, sole proprietors, or real estate businesses with basic needs. They are both priced at $15 per month ($10 if billed annually), accommodate a single user, and include five send agreements for eSignature per month and other core eSignature features. The Real Estate Starter plan also provides access to standard real estate forms and strikethrough functionality. \*\*Pros:\*\* - \*\*Affordable entry point:\*\* The low monthly cost makes electronic signatures accessible for individuals and small businesses. - \*\*Core functionality:\*\* Includes the fundamental eSignature capabilities that most individual users need. - \*\*Partner integrations:\*\* Access more than 900 partner integrations, even on these lowest-level plans. \*\*Cons:\*\* - \*\*Limited user capacity:\*\* As single-user plans, these are not designed for team collaboration. - \*\*Send agreement restrictions:\*\* Five send agreements per month may not be enough for many businesses. - \*\*Missing workplace integrations:\*\* Users must upgrade to the next-level plan to access integrations with Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Stripe. \*\*Standard and Real Estate plans\*\* The Standard and Real Estate plans are specifically tailored for small to midsize teams who need higher feature limits and collaboration tools. At $45 per month per user ($25 if billed annually), these plans support up to five users and include more advanced eSignature features, additional integrations, and, for the Real Estate plan, a single workspace to view multiple transactions and organize all forms and documents. \*\*Pros:\*\* - \*\*Expanded send agreements:\*\* Users can send up to 100 document packages/envelopes to be signed per user per month. - \*\*Multi-user support:\*\* Accommodates small teams of up to five users. - \*\*Advanced eSignature tools:\*\* Access features for collaborative commenting, scheduled sending, prefilled fields, in-person signing, and more. \*\*Cons:\*\* - \*\*Limited workflow optimization:\*\* No access to features like locked templates, drop-down form fields, bulk send, and action triggers. - \*\*User limit:\*\* The five-user maximum for Real Estate plan users may restrict growing teams; the Standard plan has a limit of 50 users. - \*\*No payment collection:\*\* Users must upgrade to request payments and signatures in one step. \*\*Business Pro and REALTORS plans\*\* Docusign’s Business Pro plan for standard users and REALTORS plan for real estate businesses diverge slightly. Business Pro costs $65 per month per user ($40 if billed annually), and the REALTORS plan costs $45 per month per user ($25 if billed annually). Both plans add workflow optimization features. \*\*Pros:\*\* - \*\*Workflow tools:\*\* Optimize your workflow with locked templates, drop-down form fields, and signer attachments (both plans); payment collection and bulk send (Business Pro plan); and formulas and advanced fields (REALTORS plan). - \*\*Special pricing:\*\* National Association of Realtors (NAR) members get access to special plan pricing for the REALTORS plan. - \*\*REALTOR logo branding:\*\* REALTORS plan users can leverage exclusive NAR branding on emails and webpages. \*\*Cons:\*\* - \*\*Limited customization:\*\* Advanced customization features like signing groups, conditional routing, and delayed routing are reserved for the Enhanced plans. - \*\*User limit:\*\* The REALTORS plan still includes a five-user maximum; like the Standard plan, the Business Pro plan has a limit of 50 users. - \*\*No access to Docusign API set:\*\* Only Enhanced plan users can access the provider’s API set to help optimize custom deployments. \*\*Enhanced and Enhanced Real Estate plans\*\* Docusign’s custom eSignature plans scale to the needs of larger businesses and real estate firms. Potential customers must contact the provider’s sales team for pricing. \*\*Pros:\*\* - \*\*Scalable and customizable:\*\* Include the features you want and need for optimal performance. - \*\*Advanced security:\*\* Access additional security features, such as a knowledge base and ID verification authentication, HIPAA support, and Docusign Monitor. - \*\*Regulated digital signatures:\*\* Supports more types of regulated digital signatures than lower-level plans. \*\*Cons:\*\* - \*\*Requires consultation:\*\* Pricing is determined only after consulting with the provider’s sales team. - \*\*Unclear feature list:\*\* The plan page on Docusign’s website can be confusing regarding what’s available in the Enhanced plans. - \*\*No additional real estate features:\*\* The Enhanced Real Estate plan doesn’t appear to offer any additional real estate-focused functionality. \*\*IAM (Intelligent Agreement Management) plans\*\* Docusign offers four IAM plans—Starter, Standard, Professional, and Enhanced—to suit businesses of different sizes and needs. \*\*IAM Starter plan\*\* The IAM Starter plan combines basic eSignature capabilities with agreement management features. Priced at $65 per month per user ($40 if billed annually), this plan includes 100 envelope sends per user per year, along with basic agreement creation and management tools, workflow automation, team management, and standard security. \*\*Pros:\*\* - \*\*AI-powered features:\*\* Includes AI search management and analysis capabilities. - \*\*Workflow automation:\*\* Provides one automated workflow to streamline document processes. - \*\*Agreement navigation:\*\* Store, manage, and analyze agreements with 500 Navigator agreements per user per year, plus a one-time bonus of 5,000 agreements. \*\*Cons:\*\* - \*\*Limited envelope sends:\*\* The cap of 100 envelope sends per user per year may be restrictive for active users. -\*\*Minimal automation:\*\* Only one automated workflow may be insufficient for organizations with complex processes. - \*\*Entry-level features:\*\* Includes only Standard eSignature plan features rather than more advanced capabilities. \*\*IAM Standard plan\*\* The IAM Standard plan expands on the Starter offering with unlimited envelope sends and additional workflows. At $75 per month per user ($45 if billed annually) for a minimum of three users, this plan provides enhanced capabilities for teams requiring more robust agreement management. \*\*Pros:\*\* - \*\*Unlimited web app sending:\*\* No restrictions on the number of envelopes sent through the web application. - \*\*Enhanced workflow automation:\*\* Includes three automated workflows for more complex process management. - \*\*Expanded agreement capacity:\*\* Provides 1,000 Navigator agreements per user per year, plus a one-time bonus of 5,000 agreements. \*\*Cons:\*\* - \*\*Three-user minimum:\*\* Requires payment for at least three users, which may not be ideal for smaller teams. - \*\*No SSO:\*\* Users must upgrade to a higher-level plan to get access to secure user logins via single sign-on (SSO). - \*\*Standard eSignature limitations:\*\* Still includes only Standard eSignature plan features. \*\*IAM Professional plan\*\* The IAM Professional plan offers advanced features for organizations with sophisticated agreement management needs. Priced at $95 per month per user ($75 if billed annually) for a minimum of three users, this plan includes Business Pro eSignature plan features and expanded workflow capabilities. \*\*Pros:\*\* - \*\*Advanced eSignature features:\*\* Includes the complete Business Pro eSignature plan feature set. - \*\*Extensive workflow automation:\*\* Provides 10 automated workflows for comprehensive process management. - \*\*Multichannel delivery:\*\* Expand your customer/signer reach with agreement notification delivery via SMS or WhatsApp. \*\*Cons:\*\* - \*\*Significant price jump:\*\* Represents a substantial cost increase from the Standard plan. - \*\*Three-user minimum:\*\* The requirement to pay for at least three users may not be cost-effective for smaller teams. - \*\*Limited branding:\*\* Only the Enhanced plan includes expanded branding, which allows more than one type of company brand, with the ability to add logos and specify color and theme. \*\*IAM Enhanced plan\*\* The IAM Enhanced plan is DocuSign's premium offering for large organizations with complex agreement management requirements. This plan requires contacting sales for custom pricing and features. \*\*Pros:\*\* - \*\*Multiple plan categories:\*\* Enhanced plan users can choose among IAM for Enterprise, IAM for Sales, and IAM for Customer Experience. - \*\*Customized plan:\*\* Select the features and user limits required for your specific business needs. - \*\*Enhanced workflow features:\*\* The Advanced Workflows tool suite includes conditional and delayed routing, signing group, and document visibility functionality. \*\*Cons:\*\* - \*\*Opaque pricing:\*\* Custom pricing model lacks transparency for budgeting purposes. - \*\*Requires consultation:\*\* Potential plan users must consult with a Docusign sales representative to make a purchase. - \*\*Potential overprovisioning:\*\* Smaller businesses may not use the full feature set, leading to unnecessary costs. \*\*Developer API Plans\*\* Docusign offers three tiers of Developer API Plans for organizations looking to integrate eSignature capabilities into their own applications: Starter ($75/month or $50 if billed annually), Intermediate ($450/month or $300 if billed annually), and Advanced ($720/month or $480 if billed annually). It also offers a free developer account for users to build and test apps in a demo environment; a paid plan is required to take the app live. \*\*Pros:\*\* - \*\*Free account:\*\* Developers can create a free account to build their apps and test the Docusign APIs. - \*\*Tiered options:\*\* Multiple plans allow organizations to select the appropriate level of API access. - \*\*Developer-focused features:\*\* Designed specifically for technical implementation and customization. \*\*Cons:\*\* - \*\*Price jumps:\*\* Plan pricing increases dramatically as the plans progress, from $50 to $480 (paid annually). - \*\*Free account limitations:\*\* The free account is for testing purposes only; envelopes sent via this account are not legally valid. - \*\*Technical expertise required:\*\* Requires development resources to implement and maintain. \*\*Free Trial\*\* Docusign offers a 30-day free trial with no credit card required, allowing users to experience the product before committing to a paid plan. \*\*Conclusion\*\* Our analysis of Docusign's plans and pricing structure shows it offers diverse options designed to accommodate various user types and organizational needs. \*\*For individuals and sole proprietors:\*\* The eSignature Personal or Real Estate Starter plans, at $10 per month (billed annually), provide an affordable entry point with essential functionality. These plans are ideal for those with basic electronic signature needs who don't require team collaboration features. For agreement management functionality, the IAM Starter plan, at $40 per user per month (billed annually), is a strong option. \*\*For small to medium businesses:\*\* The eSignature Standard and Real Estate plans ($25 per user per month, billed annually) expand user limits and add collaboration features. On the agreement management side, Docusign’s IAM Standard plan costs $45 per user per month (billed annually) and allows users to customize and automate three workflows. \*\*For larger organizations with complex needs:\*\* Docusign offers several eSignature and agreement management plans for larger organizations, including eSignature Business Pro ($40 per user per month, billed annually), the REALTORS plan ($25 per user per month, billed annually), and IAM Professional ($75 per user per month, billed annually). It also offers customized plans that require consultations with the sales team. These plans are best suited for organizations that process large volumes of agreements and require sophisticated workflow automation. \*\*For organizations requiring custom integration:\*\* The Developer API Plans provide tiered options for integrating DocuSign's capabilities into existing systems, with pricing ranging from $50 to $480 per month (billed annually). A free account is also available for building apps and testing APIs. When selecting a Docusign plan, organizations should carefully consider their document volume, user count, workflow complexity, and integration requirements. By aligning these factors with the appropriate plan, businesses can optimize their investment in electronic signature and agreement management technology while ensuring they have the necessary features to support their operations.

Functionality

Pros:

DocuSign is reliable and efficient for managing digital signatures across a wide range of documents. The template functionality helps standardise processes and saves time, especially for repeat agreements. Sending, tracking, and completing documents is straightforward, and the audit trail provides confidence from a compliance and governance perspective.

Cons:

Some parts of the interface can feel less intuitive, particularly when using more advanced features. As new functionality is introduced, there is a learning curve for administrators and end users, which can require additional guidance and training. Costs can also increase as usage and feature needs grow.

Ease of use and a household name

5

I’ve honestly never had an issue with DocuSign. It’s always been easy to find old documents, but I do wish it was more organized in the inbox. I know there’s a lot of AI software out there now they can do that for you and maybe I just need to combine the tub but thought maybe DocuSign could offer that although it has been a very positive experience we have spent tens of thousands of dollars on signature software over the years and DocuSign has been the easiest one of them all.

Functionality

Pros:

Ease of use is likely the biggest reason we use this product. Docusign is a household name in the business ecosystem just as much as it is in nearly every home. We had tried using other cut rate products but the issue we alway ran into ease of use and the name. Everybody would call it “Docusign” no matter which platform we used and that’s what they would search their inboxes for. We found that while formflow and adobe both have their corners of the market, for us Docusign was the easiest decision.

Cons:

The reminder feature sets automatically which can be a great thing as well as a bad thing. We found that sometimes it was best to leave off but would have to manually set it to do so. I always felt like that system was backwards.

Reasons for switching to Docusign

Realized adobe has been charging me for 3 accounts for 3 years. Saved 75% by switching.

Functionality

Pros:

Users frequently praise its ease of use and intuitive interface, noting that it's simple even for non-technical signers. The speed of document turnaround, ability to track signature status in real-time, and secure, legally binding nature of the signatures are also highly valued.

Cons:

The most consistent complaint is the high cost, particularly for small businesses or low-volume users. Some users report poor customer support responsiveness and difficulties with subscription renewals or refund processes. Technical issues like emails occasionally landing in spam or a steep learning curve for advanced automation features are also mentioned

I like how easy it makes it to fill out the forms and it takes me exactly where I need to sign. It allows me to make my own signature or adopt a pre made signature which doesn't look terrible.

Cons:

I dislike having to upload an ID. I understand why they may have to do this but it does feel a little like an invasion of privacy.

Docusign's been a mixed bag experience as e-signature tool

My experience with Docusign has been mixed. They were once a market leader in this space, but I believe that is no longer the case. I like their integrations with SaaS applications but much to be desired with UI/UX

Pros:

They have a fairly good UI, although it can be a pain for first time users and people who have never used a digital signature application before. I like their integrations with a lot of suites including Google Workspace and MS Office.

Cons:

The UI can a bit intimidating at times especially around completing user actions, the navigations, IA and overall UX is a bit too complicated for simple user flows.
