While some companies solutions like QuickBooks or ADP try to force additional and often unneeded services, Patriot Software allows the user to do as much for themselves as they prefer. - I like how easy and fast it is to make entries and keep track of sales and expenses. I tried moving to Insperity fora brief time and not only were my taxes a mess and my payroll history a disaster but I transitioned back to Patriot quickly and easily within 6 months. Patriot helped me get my books back in order and were knowledgeable and helpful along the way. I've had minimal difficulty onboarding and deactivating employees most issues stem from my own knowledge gaps. 10/10 would recommend to my friends and I regularly do. #### Cons It would be nice to have a dedicated POC for issues but the phone line seems to do the trick. They got my payroll EOY information wrong, they neglected to sign an employee up for health benefits after he enrolled which left him without coverage for 4 months. Their time card system was worse than using excel or a post it note. They advertise working with govcon industry but were truly clueless about the requirements for timekeeping. When we finally transitioned away from Insperity they refused to negotiate any discount for partial months or for the months that they had failed to perform to their SOW. All told, a terrible experience. It offers a lot of flexibility and a lot of value for the cost. While some companies solutions like QuickBooks or ADP try to force additional and often unneeded services, Patriot Software allows the user to do as much for themselves as they prefer. The website is very intuitively laid out and easy to use. Customer support is readily available on responds quickly with useful solutions. The company I work for does not have any use for additional expensive HR functions or a software that forces you to also pay for their accounting solution. Logging into the website, managing employees and running payroll is simple. #### Cons My biggest issue with the service is that direct deposits if processed on a Monday are not deposited into employee accounts until Friday. Five days is the longest I've seen. I just had to issue paper checks last payroll because of Memorial Day. The software does allow to easily switch to paper checks if its desirable though. Also I have been informed that established accounts can get that processing time shortened. They also do offer the option to prefund the direct deposits in which case the funds can be deposited next day. #### Reasons for choosing Patriot Software Our business is a motorcycle dealership. The main vendor has a limited number of enterprise software solutions the accept reports from so most of our business functions are handled on that software be it accounting or customers. That ERM does not have a payroll solution. We used to use QuickBooks but the cost skyrocketed and they also stopped offering payroll as a stand alone product. We got quotes from ADP but it is quite expensive. It's a very robust service and I am sure they are good at what they do but this is a small business with capable experienced management handling the payroll. A smaller less expensive solution was really preferred. Patriot Software has filled this area perfectly for us. We have no problem making payroll payments or sending reports and don't really need the software to do everything for us. I like that we are not constantly being upsold on more products and services. The cost is very fair. Entering payroll is very easy, we use the time card feature and that makes it even easier. #### Cons We pay our own taxes, I wish there were more reports for filling out state tax forms like unemployment and paid family/medical leave. But, I tried Patriot and was able to get started with very little help needed, step-by-step assistance, excellent follow up support and super affordable. This makes payroll a breeze and taxes are taken care of. I save soooo much time! #### Cons That I did not learn about them earlier. It was a commercial on Fox. It has saved us precious budget monies by being cost effective, plus it is easy for our Finance [sensitive content hidden] to learn and use. The employees are thankful for their portal to see their profiles and adjust their withholding or their direct deposit information. It is adaptable for our salaried staff and our hourly preschool teachers. It is limited in your ability to track different jobs or workers comp codes easily. This software is certainly built for ease of use and affordability, but it does lack in a few features that would benefit customers who are in industries that require more tracking of where and what employees are doing. I was able to set it up without much problem. I have a background in accounting, so I'm not sure how easy it would be if you knew nothing about payroll, but someone who has kept books should be able to do it no problem. Also, their customer support was amazing. I couldn't remember if I'd selected something for the taxes and I wrote their support and the responded within a few hours. The value is great too - the penalties are steep for messing up payroll and so full service payroll is less than the cost of a steak dinner every month. Right now I'm the only employee, but I feel confident that if I bring on staff, that I will not have any trouble setting up compliant payroll for an employee. Forget these huge corporate conglomerates that don't care about you, go with these guys! #### Cons Nothing at all. I felt that the price and support are worth the money that I am paying to be compliant with payroll taxes. I do however believe we use less paper now, that is positive. The system does flag duplicate invoices at the top level which prevents me from entering the same invoice twice. That is more than I expected it to run in the beginning. The dimensions are ok for seeing all the different departments, even if there is a delay. Having the cloud allows me to do this while waiting for my car to get serviced. This is acceptable. #### Cons I think the support is somewhat of a joke as they always give you a link to a video on how to fix an issue and I don't have time to sit through a movie about fixing an error. We had one instance where we wanted to view which 1099 bills were actually filed but the reports only gave us payments therefore creating multiple back and fourth communications.
