## Adobe Acrobat Reader Pros and Cons

We analyzed 10,536 verified reviews for Adobe Acrobat Reader to find out what actual users really think.

Select to learn more

Intuitive And Accessible Interface

Navigating Adobe Acrobat Reader is straightforward, with user-friendly menus and simple controls that require little to no training. Reviewers appreciate its intuitive design, quick access to essential functions, and the ability to work efficiently across devices. The software is praised for making PDF tasks easy for both new and experienced users.

Efficient Digital Signing Features

Adobe Acrobat Reader streamlines the process of signing documents electronically, allowing users to fill out forms, add digital signatures, and share signed files securely. The signing tools are accessible from any device and help businesses go paperless, saving time and improving workflow for contracts, agreements, and other important paperwork.

Robust Pdf Management Tools

Adobe Acrobat Reader offers a comprehensive set of features for viewing, annotating, and editing PDF documents. Users rely on its dependable performance for reading, organizing, and sharing files, with smooth navigation and compatibility across devices. The software supports a wide range of document types and integrates well with other Adobe products, making it a go-to choice for daily PDF tasks.

Limited Free Features, High Cost

Many essential functions like editing and converting PDFs are restricted to paid plans, which users find expensive compared to alternatives. The subscription model and frequent upsells frustrate those who only need basic features, while the free version is often seen as too limited for professional use.

Inconsistent Conversion And Formatting

Converting PDFs to Word, Excel, or other formats often leads to formatting issues, misplaced content, or unreadable text. Many conversion features require a paid subscription, and users find the process unreliable, especially with complex or scanned documents, leading to extra manual editing.

Complex Navigation And Cluttered Ui

Users report that Adobe Acrobat Reader's interface can be overwhelming, with cluttered toolbars, confusing menus, and pop-ups that hinder document viewing. Navigating long or multiple PDFs is sometimes difficult, and finding specific tools or features can be unintuitive, especially for new users.

Dissapointed and annoyed

Not so good. Very annoying pushes and constant info boxes "would you like this, would you like that". I just have to use it and Adobe makes a drama out of it.

Functionality

Pros:

You have to use it for some administrative/procurment processes. It is recognised in corporate and public sector.

Cons:

It is obligatory for many administrative purposes to use PDF's and that's the only reason I use Adobe Acrobat Reader. The constant pushes: to implement in browser, to implement in files, to use extra features - it's really overwhelming and makes work with it really horrible. It wants you to save file while none changes has been made. It wants you to pay if you want to save WORD file into PDF, whlie this feature in Microsoft is free of charge. I would love to see an alternative, even paid one, just to see this product gone, because it is really not easy to use. The last example - when trying to find a type of signature, you need to pick from several features in menu without any help icons of whatsoever - it is really annoying for a typical user. Maybe, maybe, this product is for top notch specialists in... document signing. IDK. Good luck.

I like the app better than the web version of opening .pdf's. Free is always good. This is a good tool to have in your arsenal. The Look and feel just seem right. This app has been the universal go to App for PDF documents since I can remember.

Cons:

I don't like the fact that if I have a Acrobat Pro version installed I am required to sign in to Acrobat Pro instead of just opening the Reader version.

Reasons for choosing Adobe Acrobat Reader

Ease of signing contracts from an iPad is slightly better I feel.

The versatility of the application while editing documents. A huge perk is the automated font match when editing 3rd party files, which saves an extreme amount of time.

I find that the application glitches, especially when you are working with multiple documents at once.

Reasons for switching to Adobe Acrobat Reader

We used to use Microsoft to edit our documents, however Adobe offers way more functions and versatility, that allows us to produce a higher output of work.

Greedy for your money and stripped out simple tools from Free Reader!

3

Garbage, they are about one of the greediest software companies out there. They have so many other products to make money from and they chose to scale-down the free Reader, which forces you to buy or, like me, went elsewhere.

Pros:

It works with most all pdf files and is free to download.

Cons:

Adobe removed the majority of the simple tools that used to be in the free version. For example, I can no longer rotate a pdf, you need the pay version for that. And forget about annotation, nope, gotta pay for that too. Way too greedy for us to recommend to our customers. We send them elsewhere.

Reasons for choosing Adobe Acrobat Reader

Because it was free but so are better competitors out there.
