Robust Photo Adjustment Tools

Adobe Lightroom offers a comprehensive set of photo editing tools for color, lighting, cropping, and retouching. Users appreciate its intuitive interface, batch editing capabilities, and support for presets, making it suitable for both professionals and beginners seeking efficient photo enhancement.

Flexible Editing Workflow Options

Lightroom supports non-destructive editing, allowing users to revert changes and experiment with different styles. The software integrates well with other Adobe products, offers a wide range of editing tools, and streamlines batch edits, making it popular for quick and detailed adjustments.

Accessible Learning For Beginners

While Lightroom has a broad feature set that may seem overwhelming at first, users find its interface user-friendly and easy to learn. Helpful tutorials, online resources, and a gradual learning curve make it approachable for newcomers and those transitioning from other editing software.

Subscription Cost Concerns

Many users feel Lightroom's pricing is high, especially for those not using the full Adobe suite or working professionally. The ongoing subscription model and bundled packages make it less accessible for hobbyists and small businesses seeking affordable photo editing solutions.

### Long time Lightroom user (going on 10-years) -- it's a must have for any professional photographer

I have been a long-time user of Adobe Products and you simply cannot use anything else if you're looking for professional editing software. I pay for the premium monthly pack of the entire adobe suite, all the software plays nice with each other integrating useful features between them all. I love the libraries in PS for editing on repeat clients with tools and styles.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I love that Adobe does useful updates when they update the software. I do love many features about lightroom, speeding up my workflow, consistent batch edits and once you learn the ropes, it's a breeze to use.

#### Cons

LR just did a major overhaul to their masking and it has been a major upgrade to the previous masking tools. So far I absolutely love it and it is already saving me so many previous headaches in time with masking objects/subjects. I wish they would work on their heal too, it is clunky, slow, and should work more like content-aware in PS, but I'm sure it will eventually get there. :) Nothing that would keep me from using the software.

#### Reasons for choosing Adobe Lightroom

I did try Capture One for a year in combination with my Adobe LR and PS products for editing. Originally I started using Capture One for the tethered photography options. While it is a wonderfully impactful piece of software, it is very complex and during a busy time I never fully wrapped my brain around using it, it was also quite expensive as a stand-alone software tool when I am probably getting the same value with my LR and PS use. I finally cut the cord and now only use LR and PS. LR has also upgraded their tethering function and it works for what I need.

I have been using LR since LR 1. I loved it for years. The move to cloud based functionality while understandable from a Developer-support position has been expensive and extremely frustrating.

#### Cons

If you're a photographer or want a powerful, no-nonsense editor for professional adjustments, Lightroom is a must-have. For advanced image manipulation, Photoshop might be a better choice.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Adobe Lightroom is one of the best photo editing and organization apps, widely used by professional and enthusiast photographers. It stands out for its intuitive interface, non-destructive editing, and advanced artificial intelligence features.

#### Cons

Paid plan – Only available with a monthly/annual subscription. Requires internet to sync files to the cloud. Limited editing compared to Photoshop, as it does not allow for layers or deeper manipulations.

I can raise exposure, lower contrast, and test different colour profiles on my phone without long waits. Overall, that feels quite powerful for a mobile app.

#### Cons

For the desktop version, even on my strong PC, Lightroom Classic sometimes slows down when I change modules or start a large export. The face‑recognition tool is not always accurate; it often marks my cat as a person.

### The Photo Editing Software That Became a Standard

It does what it says regardless of if you're a subscriber or not. it came with my creative cloud subscription so I tend to use it when I want to do some light editing. The app is far more superior than the desktop version.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 2/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

What I liked the most is the tools offered for editing and organizing images. Taking a decent image that may have turned out too dark and giving it a lighting adjustment is so easy to obtain. I also liked the option to use a screen reader. The interface is simple to navigate and easy to understand.

#### Cons

Since adobe moved to a subscription model lightroom is pricey considering the many alternatives that are out there. I don't like that it doesn't default to opening when I pop in an SD memory card.
