# Replit User Reviews

## Reviews summary

- Overall rating: 4.4/5
- Total reviews: 159

### Secondary ratings

- Ease of use: 4.5/5
- Customer support: 3.9/5
- Value for money: 4.1/5
- Functionality: 4.3/5

### Rating distribution

- 5 stars: 90 reviews (57%)
- 4 stars: 50 reviews (31%)
- 3 stars: 10 reviews (6%)
- 2 stars: 4 reviews (3%)
- 1 star: 5 reviews (3%)

### Most mentioned pros

- The interface is intuitive for beginners, and having an integrated AI assistant directly inside the editor helps speed up initial prototyping and basic software troubleshooting.
- It is so good for getting someone who has never coded, up and running quickly, and it has amazing built in features such as "agent" "database" "one-click-deploy" github integrations etc that make it so valuable - replit is my "homebase" for working on any kind of coding project
- For coding beginners like me, the biggest advantage lies in its ability to automatically generate code and create apps and websites through basic documentation or conversations with AI.

### Most mentioned cons

- Their customer support heavily relies on rigid "no refund" policies for AI utility compute, ignoring systemic platform glitches that trigger these spikes. If you value your budget and peace of mind, host your projects elsewhere.
- The text editor does not work properly on UTF-16 or ANSI text files, which makes it completely unusable for editing any non-ASCII non-UTF-8 text, it also forces Unix newlines, inserts excessive spaces and closing tags during editing, and often fails to auto-detect 1 space indent
- Error corrections often trigger new, unrelated defects across the codebase; the agent consumes substantial compute while attempting fixes; and the lack of guardrails (diff confirmation, scoped edits, one-click rollback) makes recovery slow and costly.

My overall experience is very positive. All the positives outweigh the negatives. The experience with Replit reminds me of the first time I was able to use Internet on a plane. It just blew me away. I had no idea that it was possible. So being able to create my own apps and watch them come to life as I explain what I want is an unbelievable experience that only gets better every single day. Not only does the app get better, but I get better at talking to the app and understanding exactly how to make all my ideas come alive.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The thing I like most about Replit is, I can come up with an idea and tell Replit in plain English what I want and it builds it for me. I can see a preview as it’s being built, and I can ask it for changes and adjustments. I’ve always been fascinated with making apps that make my life easier and every time I think of something that I want I can just create the app. Even a year ago that wasn’t impossible. It would’ve taken tens of thousands of dollars to make the apps that I’ve made in a couple hours for less than $100.

#### Cons

What I like least about replit is that if you’re not careful, the AI agent will change things without your permission that you’ve already worked on and fine-tuned and sometimes make a complete mess of it. They say you can roll back and go back to where you were at a certain checkpoint, but I find that sometimes that just doesn’t work the AI is broken everything and I need to start over.

### Replit Capitalist Review

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

The capitalist model which ensures that all deployment owners pay the fair price to keep Replit servers running and can freely express their views with their repls without risk of censorship, which makes it much better to use than communist hosting services

#### Cons

The text editor does not work properly on UTF-16 or ANSI text files, which makes it completely unusable for editing any non-ASCII non-UTF-8 text, it also forces Unix newlines, inserts excessive spaces and closing tags during editing, and often fails to auto-detect 1 space indent

#### Reasons for switching to Replit

Those services do not offer sufficient ideological freedom for users to express their views, which makes them not reliable to store or host data in there.

Overall, I find using Replit very easy, and it significantly aids in innovating and developing MVPs that turn into my full SaaS products. I think the pricing model could be simplified a little bit. I am less worried about the pricing and rather understand what each tier is targeted at.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I use Replit for my business to build and scale my SaaS applications. I like the web-based IDE and the Agent mode. Some of the key features I use in all my apps are the built-in secrets manager and the Neon PostgreSQL database solution. The one-click deployment is excellent, and the integration with my existing git repos makes it easy to version control my releases.

#### Cons

I like the Agent mode, but I would like the ability to create Architect agents that can supervise and help direct the coding agent. I think sometimes the Agent mode gets confused, and I have had times where it just gets stuck in a loop. This is fine for me because I am a software engineer by trade, so I don't have to rely entirely on the agent. I do find it confusing when to use the Assistant vs. Agent. For me, I generally write with full product requirements documents for each feature, so the Agent is most useful to me.

#### Reasons for choosing Replit

I wanted a cloud-based solution that could be run from a browser.

### Still the most capable web app builder

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Still the most capable web app builder in the market despite all the noise. Effective balance between needing good clarity of prompt effort versus output. Really easy seamless deployment (amazing really).

#### Cons

Can get expensive unexpectedly, expensive is fine if its a complex task i expect it to work more and cost more. Where it is a problem is that it's stuck on some stupid task (partly user problem) - not sure if it is overengineering but possibly a predictive planning session (think design huddles) at "plan" stage and alternative solutions suggestions maybe useful. other than that, here's some wishlist - seamless build of react native (or OS native) mobile app - chrome extension - better UX handling - give it some CSS guidelines, contrast for fonts in particular, as an example - better handling of image storage - do some integration with 3rd party storage

#### Reasons for switching to Replit

switched from v0, lovable, manus, windsurf. (your capterra form autocomplete above is stupid, it crashed then it doesnt allow me to choose these options) alternatives were not strong on more complex builds (both v0 and lovable does much better UIUX though), manus is stronger on generic agentic AI (go find me this data/api, etc.)

### How Replit Made Me a Faster, More Confident Builder

Replit's advantages clearly outweigh its drawbacks. It has significantly improved my development process, making me a more efficient and productive builder through its streamlined IDE, collaborative features, accessibility, and broad language support. Ultimately, Replit has enhanced my technical skills and fostered a more dynamic approach to coding.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

One of the key advantages of this system is its ability to facilitate instant project starts and rapid application deployments. This means that users can quickly launch new projects and share them with others, significantly streamlining workflows and accelerating development cycles. The ease of getting started and deploying applications contributes to a highly efficient and collaborative environment.

#### Cons

However, a notable limitation of the system is its lack of offline access. A constant and stable internet connection is mandatory for its operation, which renders it impractical for use in environments where internet connectivity is unreliable or nonexistent. This dependency on an online connection makes the system unsuitable for fieldwork, travel, or any scenario where continuous internet access cannot be guaranteed, thereby restricting its utility for users who require the flexibility of working offline.

#### Reasons for switching to Replit

Ease of setting up a new project. And better results than I was getting with Co-pilot.

I am in awe of what Replit can do and the speed at which it can do it. Having experienced its capabilities, now I just want it to be even faster and cheaper.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 2/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Replit is obviously such a powerful and groundbreaking tool. Its ability to create complex software with only natural language input is staggering. I love that no matter how big the task, Replit will always surprise me and deliver functional solutions.

#### Cons

I found the cost of using Replit for complex applications was far higher than I expected. While I understand the costs savings compared to traditional coding are immense, it didn't quite meet my expectations. I used up my entire year of Teams credits in the first month and have been paying as I go since then. The second issue definitely contributed heavily to the first issue, and that is how time consuming and therefor expensive debugging is in Replit. Being that Replit is writing the code in the first place, it does get frustrating when debugging what seems like a simple feature takes days instead of minutes.

#### Reasons for choosing Replit

Ease of use for non-coders was the main reason for choosing Replit.

Really accelerated my product development and testing phase. Will continue to use Replit and hopefully new updates and releases can improve the scale and strength of functionality to make use cases stronger and stronger for users. Great product and feels like only the beginning for Replit.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Great for rapidly visualising and testing UX and customer journey. Seems to handle visual optimisation better than any other competitor out there at the moment with easy and effective brand book incorporation to tailor designs and branding.

#### Cons

Struggles once apps become too broad, it's best to handle smaller feature use cases rather than building a completely functional product such as a platform etc. It also seems to struggle with effective back end alignment for functionality. The optimal use case for me at the moment is to use Replit to test and build for demo capability then transfer code to Github repo and refine it there for effective back end incorporation and functionality. This process can be a little painful.

#### Reasons for choosing Replit

replit had an advantage in its visual outputs. It could more easily interpret my creative requests and also incorporate brand materials I have to produce a more complete product relative to the competition. It also had the capability to produce something that is a little more complex without bugs emerging too early. All products I have tried have struggled with this however Replit currently leads the way.

#### Pros

Amazing turnkey solution to create real software. I've had no coding experience, and have built multiple websites, webapps, python scripts that solve real problems for me.

#### Cons

Replit sometimes grows faster than documentation keeps up. I don't see it advertised as much as come competitors.

#### Reasons for choosing Replit

I actually use cursor and replit together - Replit is my homebase, but if i ever get stuck, I connect my replit account to cursor via SSH and continue to build.

Great product overall. A real game changer for non-code professionals to be able to create what they're looking for. A massive short cut for passing on to pro developers, building internal tools (where it doesn't necessarily matter if everything works totally) and if you're looking to delve into the world of software development for clients etc then it's a fantastic start and makes it a lot more user friendly and comprehensive than other solutions out there.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Superb product. I'm not a software developer so this has been magnificent as a tool to help me create proof of concepts and explore ideas. I started doing this for my own business - a piece of software to support a regular activity, totally bespoke to me, where other off the shelf products require lots of customisation. It's grown beyond that to developing for others and creating just unique ideas which I'd hope to take to market.

#### Cons

There is a decent learning curve required. Not to get started but to think like a software developer. For example, if you ask for a 'My Account' area - you'll get one with lots of common options - superb! However, you'll need to think and define how each part of this works. Exactly how password reset functions should work etc. This is my experience, you must be familiar with using SaaS software to get the most out of this. Otherwise you'll get a visual solution but not necessarily a totally productive one. Lots of work needs to go into the prompt and lots and lots of testing.

The best app is the one you build for yourself—and Replit makes that possible. The platform lets you create all kinds of applications. I’ve used it, for example, to build a WordPress plugin that helps me in my daily work and saves me plenty of time, as well as more advanced projects like an AI-powered résumé-assessment tool and a solution for generating charts from spreadsheet data. It’s an excellent platform with broad functionality. Sometimes you do have to make tweaks, but with a little patience you can always achieve the result you want. I hardly need to add that we’re building software here for a fraction of what hiring developers would cost, which means that even my small company can invest in developing apps and web services.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Personalized solutions – you can build the exact app you need for your own workflow instead of relying on generic off-the-shelf tools. Wide range of use cases – from simple WordPress plugins to AI-enhanced résumé-scoring or chart-generation tools, the platform supports both basic and advanced projects. Comprehensive feature set – Replit offers an all-in-one environment (editor, hosting, collaboration, deployment) that reduces setup overhead. Cost efficiency – developing in-house on Replit costs only a fraction of what hiring external developers would, enabling even small companies to create software. Time savings – custom automations (e.g., the WordPress plugin) streamline daily tasks and free up time for other work. Iterative flexibility – you can quickly tweak and refine your code until you achieve the desired outcome.

#### Cons

Occasional need for fixes – some bugs or limitations require extra troubleshooting and patience before things work as intended. Potential platform constraints – advanced or highly specialized features might hit Replit-specific limitations, necessitating work-arounds.

I love using Replit as I have zero coding experience. It allows me to chip away at my project and saves me a lot of time, effort and money! What I’ve built in three months would have cost me $300,000 and taken 18 months via the traditional route.

The Replit Agent is unbelievably powerful. It can complete coding tasks and build what you ask as long as you have an understanding of what is possible. If you have no experience coding you can build and will learn a lot from using it. Overall I have been very impressed by the Replit agent capabilities, and how easy it is to integrate databases and other tools into software within Replit. The Agent also does a good job of attempting to guide on secure implementation.

I have been using replit for a few months. As a small business owner, the AI agent has enabled me to write code for software which has saved time with the admin tasks of running my small businesses. I have been able to replace 100's of dollars worth of subsription costs for tools like inventory tracking with much smaller Replit deployment fees and I own the software so I can add features when I want. I am so impressed I am currently working on a SAAS business with software built on replit.

My experience with Replit has been transformative for my development workflow. The platform brilliantly combines intuitive design with powerful functionality, making coding more accessible and enjoyable. It's genuinely changed how I approach software development projects.

The ability to build software using natural English language is absolutely revolutionary and feels like magic. Replit's AI-powered coding assistance eliminates traditional programming barriers, making software development accessible to everyone regardless of their technical background. The seamless integration between ideation and implementation is incredible.

#### Cons

While I absolutely love the product, I'd appreciate more generous credit allocations for users and more competitive hosting pricing. The current credit system can feel limiting when working on larger projects, and hosting costs could be more accessible for individual developers and small teams.

Overall, this is the future. If you have an idea to create bespoke software, give this platform a go - the constant improvements to the agent layer is making development a lot easier, especially for non-coding people.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5

#### Pros

The ability to create professional software so quickly is an incredible benefit of the Replit platform - I have been most impressed with the agent's capabilities and structured approach. The layout of the platform is simple enough for those without a coding background, but it has all the layers if you need to dive into code. I really enjoy the ease of deployment and the ability to work on the next version without impacting your live environment. I should also say the support team is very responsive - I had an issue where my live product was constantly pinging the websocket connection - they provided great guidance to fix it.

#### Cons

Initially, I found myself doing a lot of testing that I wasn't expecting to do, but once I realised how to adjust my prompts, it reduced the testing and retesting significantly.

One small point to mention is that the credit system was recently changed, and I’m still evaluating whether it’s a good or bad shift overall. It’s too early to say for sure, but it’s something to keep in mind.

I'm impressed with Replit. It's exactly how you envision the ideal developer. The tool always provides a (friendly and patient) response and is proactive. One drawback is that Replit builds features without asking, even though you first have to submit a proposal of what you want to develop. Another drawback is that it sometimes doesn't implement or skips tasks, but claims to have done them. Regularly asking follow-up questions is important. But that's not always a problem, because it forces you to remain critically involved in the development process.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Ease of use and rapid development are arguably the most important reasons to use Replit. Not just for applications, but also for integrating external APIs. APIs can be incorporated into applications relatively easily. The fact that Replit then creates its own documentation is great. That's always a low priority. Moreover, the costs are relatively low.

#### Cons

Replit doesn't always deliver what it promises. So, if in doubt, always check. Another disadvantage is that you can't quickly make a copy of a Replit app and make it operational. It's possible, but it's not easy.

Overall experience has been good, but not spectacular. I know Replit is a newer solution so I have grace for what they are building. As a developer, no software is spectacular in it's genesis. I just know its going to get better and more intuitive.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

It's simple to get started and it creates a great user experience not only for the developer, but the end user who will be using the software created. It does a great job with intuitive placements of controls and functionality within the app being created. You can build a good simple application quickly.

#### Cons

At first, i would get frustrated that check points would get eaten up by what should be the simplest tasks. I lost a lot of check points because it didn't naturally clear cache and restart the app when needed, so it didn't seem that bugs were fixed. The other issue I still experience, is many features in a built app work great, but as we continue to build, many times non-related parts of the application become broken as the agent is changing code. You can NEVER assume other parts of the app is functioning properly after making any changes.

Replit has become my go-to tool for rapid prototyping and lightweight collaboration. Whether I’m sketching out an MVP, testing code snippets, or teaching others, it saves me time and lowers the barrier to trying new ideas. It’s intuitive enough for beginners but powerful enough to kickstart serious projects.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Replit makes building quick MVPs and experimenting with ideas incredibly easy. I can spin up a project in seconds, collaborate in real time, and test concepts without worrying about setup or infrastructure. Its simple interface and wide language support make prototyping a breeze, even when juggling multiple projects.

#### Cons

The platform can feel limited for larger, more complex projects—performance and customization options aren’t as strong as a full local development environment. Occasionally, packages take longer to install or updates lag slightly.

Overall has been a big positive for us as a small business being able to do more in house without the expense of out-sourcing development.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

It has meant we’ve been able to build beyond what we had the developmental power to do ourselves. Has been very helpful and a lot of fun to use.

#### Cons

The Ai agent, like most ai systems makes some mistakes. This sometimes means using credits to make the mistakes and then you need to use more credits to then fix it.

#### Reasons for choosing Replit

Seem more capable at full stack development.
