My clients also are enjoying this way to pay me rather than having to play telephone tag to pay me over the phone if they are not here in person. Ratings Breakdown 5 Ease of use 5 Value for money 5 Customer support 4 Functionality Pros: I really like how easy it is to send a quick invoice and request payment with a link in an email to be paid on an encrypted portal either with an echeck or a credit card. I like how I can look up payment received by month or by client. Payments are deposited quickly with the fees charged separately so it is so easy to keep track of. When I had a credit card machine, clients had to call me to enter the payment on the machine and the payments were all mixed up with so many fees all being charged on various dates. I also like that a payment in person can be entered from the portal if they client is here. I can also order a credit card machine but I chose not to. Their reports were not by client but lumped together depending on the credit card they used. Cons: I wish they would all a separate line item to add a credit card fee to the payment if a client chooses to pay with a credit card instead of an echeck. I finally had to let the client know to add an extra fee to the payment if they plan to pay with a credit card and I would pay the lesser fees if they paid with an echeck. Read More DJ Dane J. The fee structure is transparent and competitive. There are no surprise charges and they batch out fees monthly, meaning there are no difficult reconciliations. The platform itself is incredibly intuitive; onboarding took minimal time, and our team was up and running almost immediately. But what really sets CPACharge apart is their customer service. Every time we've had a question or needed support, their team has been responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. Cons: If I had to point to one area for improvement, it would be integrations. CPACharge tends to be an "afterthought" with most accounting platforms - we originally switched because of TaxDome's integration that is now sunsetting (not to the fault of CPACharge though - all TaxDome's move). Besides IRS Solutions, I don't know of any other platforms that integrate directly with CPACharge. I'd love to see broader compatibility with more widely adopted platforms particularly something like Stripe-level integration flexibility. For firms that use a mix of tools, a more expansive integration library would make CPACharge an even easier choice. The service has been thoughtfully designed with accountants in mind, which I really appreciate. It makes it so much easier to reconcile deposits when they actually match the invoice amounts. Automatic deposit into my bank means I don't have to deal with requesting transfers. And I love the integration with TaxDome, although I hear that is going away later this year. If there is any way to get them to keep the integration, PLEASE do!! I DO NOT want to have to start reconciling my deposits with fees netted out, like I'll have to do with other payment processing services. Cons: I do deal with some failed transactions, which can be a real headache in the middle of busy season when I don't have a lot of spare time to chase down clients AGAIN for payment. Cons: It doesn't accept ATM debit cards. Some seniors don't have VISA-enabled cards or credit cards in general. They only have a debit card on which they receive their Social Security deposits, and it's the only one they use to pay. They are my favorite merchant service provider. When I call, I get a person, and my issue is always resolved. Their team is super friendly and they really want to take care of your issue. For example, today I called because the wording on the outgoing payment link didn't reflect what I wanted. They changed it right there on the phone, in 2 seconds, and before I hung up I could already see it on my screen. Easy peasy. That's the kind of people I want to work with. I find that when clients complain about the surcharge for credit cards that it was them not reading properly because CPACharge makes it known in several places that there is a charge for using credit cards. BUT it is also easy to reverse charges when clients realize and it allows the transaction to be voided and a new one be processed.
