#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Ease of use and transition from Planswift. PC or MAC is doesn't matter. Collaboration now if huge. Working remote is much easier vs sharing a license key.

#### Cons

Some features were missing at first. Not having an excess to not look at takeoff remotely. Now can use iPad and see what's going on or check things.

#### Reasons for choosing zzTakeoff

Cost and simplicity for what we needed at the time to be more universal between our companies.

#### Reasons for switching to zzTakeoff

Outdated, wanted to use on MAC and PC and remotely easier.

### Switched from PlanSwift After 12 Years, No Looking Back

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Where do I start? I've been using PlanSwift for over 12 years. We specialize in large commercial painting projects, have around 30 full-time painters, and estimate 600–700 jobs every year. Because of that, our takeoff software is one of the most important tools in our business. When I first saw zzTakeoff, I assumed switching software would be difficult and that it would take months before we'd be comfortable enough to stop using PlanSwift. I couldn't have been more wrong. From the demo to starting the trial, the entire process was painless. In fact, on the very first day of our trial, we made the decision to stop doing all new takeoffs in PlanSwift and switch everything to zzTakeoff. We expected it to take several months before we could fully transition, but zzTakeoff made the change incredibly easy. The ability to import our existing PlanSwift jobs was a huge advantage. Simply downloading plans and having the software automatically name files and assign sheet numbers has been an incredible time saver. Before zzTakeoff, downloading, organizing, and naming plan sheets typically took me 15 to 25 hours every week, depending on our workload. Since switching, that has been reduced to just a few hours per week. Based on our labor costs, we're saving approximately $400–$500 every week on that task alone. Considering a zzTakeoff user license costs around $550 per year, that one feature alone paid for the software almost immediately in one week. And that's before factoring in all of the other time-saving features we've started using. Then we started discovering everything else. Adding revision plans while preserving existing takeoff data is fantastic. The box takeoff tool is much faster than clicking every individual point. The search feature has been a complete game changer, we can instantly search for terms like "paint" or "sealed concrete" instead of manually hunting through drawings. I also love the Duplicate Takeoff and Convert To features. They make creating similar takeoffs incredibly fast and eliminate a lot of repetitive work. One feature I didn't expect to appreciate as much as I do is the Community section. It's great being able to see other users questions, learn new tips and tricks, and get a preview of features that are currently being developed. It's obvious the developers listen to their users and are constantly improving the software. I've now been using zzTakeoff for about three weeks, and every day we're discovering new shortcuts and features that make our estimating process even faster. It's rare to find software that exceeds expectations this much, but zzTakeoff has done exactly that. If you're currently using another takeoff program and are hesitant about making the switch, don't let the learning curve scare you. In our experience, the transition was much easier than expected, and the time savings have been substantial. I can honestly say I do not like getting in the old system and it has only been a few weeks.

#### Cons

The biggest challenge was simply breaking 12 years of PlanSwift habits, not learning zzTakeoff itself.

#### Reasons for choosing zzTakeoff

Cost and also allowed a trial period. Togal has no trial.

#### Reasons for switching to zzTakeoff

To technology. Wanted the features of downloading and naming

#### Pros

The ease of use. Very easy to get started. We were new to ZZ Takeoff and four of us had to learn at the same time.

#### Cons

Not being able to use the same takeoff for wall heights. Everytime there is a different wall height we have to set up a new takeoff.

#### Reasons for switching to zzTakeoff

We only need takeoffs. Stack got to expensive for the limited use we got out of it.

My overall experience has been excellent. zzTakeoff is simple and intuitive enough that even a beginner like me could pick it up easily, and the support team has been fantastic every step of the way, friendly, helpful, and quick to respond. I'd happily recommend it to anyone getting started with takeoffs.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Hands down, how easy and intuitive it is to use. I'm a beginner and I was up and running quickly without feeling lost or overwhelmed. On top of that, the team is awesome, genuinely nice, responsive, and helpful whenever I've needed a hand. That combination made a huge difference for me.

#### Cons

Honestly, nothing significant so far. As a newcomer I've had a great experience, so I don't have any real complaints.

#### Reasons for switching to zzTakeoff

I switched from Bluebeam because zzTakeoff is much easier and more intuitive to use, especially for someone still learning. Takeoffs that felt complicated before are now simple and quick. The helpful, responsive team made the transition even easier, and overall it just fits the way I work better.

### Web-based takeoff that made the switch from PlanSwift easy

We were initially using PlanSwift for all of our takeoffs, which required a Windows install on every machine. Since moving to ZZtakeoff, everything has gotten easier. We can share files, work in the same takeoff together, and run the whole thing in the browser. Our team members on Macs can now use it with no issues. The functionality is very similar to what we were already used to, so the switch was smooth. You can even treat it like a desktop app by installing it through Chrome or Edge. The team has been consistent with updates and keeps moving the software forward, and their community is active, not just for reporting issues but for discussing new features. The software has been great since we swapped over, and the community engagement has been just as positive.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Web-based, so there's no per-machine Windows install and Mac users are fully supported. Real-time file sharing and the ability to work in the same takeoff together. Functionality is familiar coming from PlanSwift, so there's little learning curve. You can install it like a desktop app through Chrome or Edge. Updates are consistent, and there's an engaged user community for both issues and feature discussion.

#### Cons

As far as takeoff software goes, we haven't run into any real issues with it. If I had to name something, it would be minor: as with any web-based tool, you need a reliable internet connection, but that hasn't been a problem for us.

#### Reasons for choosing zzTakeoff

ease of use, web based, and ability to work together and collaborate

#### Reasons for switching to zzTakeoff

shared files/folder structure was becoming an increasing issue, as well as multiple estimators working on same data

I am pleasantly surprised with zzTakeoff! I really like how the design team is engaged with the users. I feel like this platform gets better and better!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

zzTakeoff is very easy to use. I came from OST and was reluctant to try something new. zzTakeoff was very easy to understand and apply what I could do in OST.

#### Cons

I did not like how I couldn't customize keystroke commands for zooming and panning similar to OST. But I found a workaround.

#### Reasons for choosing zzTakeoff

Cost and product support was huge. I liked the user engagement and the free trial is what sold me.

#### Reasons for switching to zzTakeoff

OST was quite expensive and had not changed for the last 5 years. Wanted to try something new and in development.

Wonderful! From the first I heard about ZZ, I've been impressed. The more I interact with the platform and team, the more thankful I am that they created zzTakeoff. It seems far superior to any other estimating software I've investigated.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The many features and continual improvements to add more are awesome. The customizations are easy so we can create tools, templates, and reports for our companies needs. The team at ZZ are incredibly helpful.

#### Cons

I'd like to slightly modify a few of the preset properties, but can't. It's barely a complaint because it is so easy to create custom properties that function how I want.

#### Reasons for switching to zzTakeoff

Very poor customer service. Glitchy - I was tired of closing the program using task manager and reopen it to make it work. Time consuming to customize.

Overall, I had a very positive experience with zzTakeoff. The software is powerful, offers a great set of tools, and is backed by an outstanding support team. The ongoing assistance from[sensitive content hidden] and the zzTakeoff community made it easy to get answers whenever we needed them. It's clear they care about their customers' success and are committed to providing excellent service.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I really liked the wide range of features zzTakeoff offers and how intuitive the software is once you become familiar with it. One of the biggest advantages is the community support, where multiple knowledgeable users and staff are available to answer questions and provide guidance. I also greatly appreciated that the representatives who helped us get started, [sensitive content hidden] continued to be available even after onboarding. Their responsiveness and willingness to help made the overall experience much more enjoyable.

#### Cons

The software has a lot of capabilities, which can make the learning curve a little overwhelming at first. While the training and support are excellent, some workflows could be more intuitive for new users, and having additional step-by-step tutorials for advanced features would make onboarding even smoother.

#### Reasons for switching to zzTakeoff

We ultimately decided to move away from Square Takeoff because the platform felt outdated compared to other solutions on the market. We were looking for a software provider that is continuously innovating, introducing new features, and investing in the future of their product. We felt zzTakeoff was a better fit for our long-term needs.

The transition from Planswift to zzTakeoff was very seamless and made a huge increase in productivity in our company. Overall, very happy with the software and love the new features coming so quickly!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Being a Planswift for a lot of years, the biggest game changers for me are: - full color plan sheets - 100% online use/access (including mobile access) - sheet revisioning options (not having to create new projects or have jumbled plans) - AI features (scaling, page naming, etc.) - Ability to work on the same project as another user simultaneously

#### Cons

Because it was a newer software, zzTakeoff did not have all of the plugins yet, and we needed Earthworks plugin. That was a little difficult to deal with, but we were able to work around it. I understand many plugins are close to being released in zzTakeoff.

#### Reasons for choosing zzTakeoff

zzTakeoff was sooo much more user friendly and easier to use.

#### Reasons for switching to zzTakeoff

zzTakeoff was 100% online and allowed us to have multiple users from different locations access the project files seamlessly.

- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The user interface is fantastic, competitive pricing, wonderful integration capacity for whatever workflow, and constant improvements generated by user community feedback

#### Cons

There are not a ton of downsides to zzTakeoff besides the relative youth of the program, most if not all of which are looking to be remedied in the near future

#### Reasons for switching to zzTakeoff

Cost, real time collaborative editing, cutting back on copies of copies, and excessive emails to get teams caught up on plan versions
