Verified reviewer Transportation/ Trucking/ Railroad 51-200 employees Used daily for less than 2 years Review source Reviewed June 2026 This TMS blew my mind!! 5 As you can see from my commentary in the first two questions I am absolutely 100% over the moon with this TMS platform. That being said, I haven’t been a little apprehensive to switch all of my operations over to Diesel TMS, however after a more than a year, long journey with the developer and the level of support that I received from him and continue to receive, I have finally made the choice to start moving all of our TMS operations to Diesel because I know that no matter what James is not going to let anything happen to my data that would affect me in any negative way as a carrier. All I can say is to give it a shot. Try it out with a few trucks. You don’t even have to use it in a full-time mode. You can use it to try it out and see how it matches up with your current TMS but I promise you you will be surprised. Ratings Breakdown 5 Ease of use 5 Value for money 5 Customer support 5 Functionality Pros: What struck me right from the beginning was how feature rich this TMS is. I was expecting a TMS that would be restrictive because of enrolling in the free tier. I was completely surprised how detailed and well thought out this TMS was. I am able to start with the beginning quote stage and then continue all the way to invoicing and driver settlements, keeping track of fleet maintenance, check calls, even a template to write checks! But what really surprised me was the technical support. For whatever reason I had come across an error page and I didn’t think anything of it, that I would just hit back and try again. Next thing I know I have a message in my inbox from the developer letting me know that they saw I had hit a snag and that they were on it. Whatever had threw an error was fixed and I was back to entering my data. I had a login issue one time, and I sent an email off to the developer that was replied to within minutes and I was logged in very shortly after that. As my company has grown the developer actually took the time to have a phone call meeting with me to see how the platform could be improved to meet the needs of my fleet. If I had an issue or had questions, a link was sent to me and I was able to remote desktop with developer and was shown how to do whatever I needed help with. This kind of support and devotion to a platform that is not only affordable or free is absolutely unheard of. I can’t even get this type of support from one of the large name Ven without jumping through 1 million hoops before I even get my issue a question heard. The best part about the platform is that the way it’s been written is that there is so many customizations there are so many different integrations that are added all the time. Numerous times the developer has emailed me and said hey what do you think about this? Hey what do you think about that? How do you like this? How do you like that even all the way down to the ads like he was literally changing the ad vendors to make sure that they were not as intrusive to me as a company owner, so that he could still get the ad revenue, but also be able to make sure that I was able to have usability of the platform I can’t see enough good things about this platform. Yes it may be a newer platform, but the seriously in my opinion is the next best thing in free TMS, and in my personal opinion, this literally blows Ascend TMS’s attempt at the free TMS out of the water. Cons: I can’t really say that I have anything that I like least I have had some issues a few times with different features throwing an error that required me to retype the information again, but that was all overshadowed by the Support that was received immediately so I can’t really say that I didn’t make anything because it continues to surprise me every time I login Reasons for choosing Diesel TMS My experience is based upon all of my comments above this is something you definitely need to try because you will literally have your mind blown, you could even go from using any of the products you’re using now switched directly over to using Diesel and you’re gonna find that you can do double but you were able to do on the other software Reasons for switching to Diesel TMS The features of detail and customer service literally outshine ascend in any word on any day Read More SH Spencer H. They offer free tier packages but we pay a monthly price so we do not have to have any ads. The program is very robust & had a good amount of integrations. If there were any features that the program did not have, once we spoke to customer service about them, they were able to get them added for us which really surprised us. The website is very responsive & does not lag. Overall, it is a very easy program to use & the customer service is great. I enjoyed the ease of data placement as I entered customer/shipper and carrier information. This streamlines the process of adding loads from your shipper and connecting qualified and vetted carriers to every load inyour system. That allows you to broker and dispatch far more loads every day which is a positive impact to your daily and weekly revenues. The buillt-in cost-per-mile calculator allows carriers to exactly extract CPM data to make sure that every load and every lane is profitable. The TMS also includes a built-on IFTA Fuel Tax calculator so that you can do quarterly Fuel Tax reporting and see your anticipated amouts due and which states to buy more or less fuel in so that you do not owe taxes in a particular state. For Freight Brokers, there is a data on every carrier's Crash and Inspection reports available at your finger tips. Also, a data base of over 1.8 million carriers listed on the FMCSA. Also available to you is a lead generation tool and integrations with MyCarrier Portal for carrier onboarding, 123 Load Board for load postings and a new Carrrier Vetting integration with Freight Validate. Cons: The thing that I like least about Diesel TMS is that this platform was not availble sooner!
