No doubt, they are very supportive and solve all of my issues. The documentation is good. Tips and tricks are available. I love this application.

Advanced Installer is a very powerful tool when it comes to packaging software. It is very easy to use and reliable. You can easily create packages that install and uninstall and later on deploy your updates whenever you want. Their customer support is very fast and responsive. It is a simple and complete solution with very good documentation.

Advanced Installer has so many features and functionalities so you have to spend some time with it to understand its core features and functionalities and how it works and all that kind of stuff. Sometimes you might find that you don't even need all the features for your projects or work. But, it's pretty much worth spending time on it because you will learn a lot of things that will help you in your future projects or some complex projects. It has a learning curve and I'm okay with that.

We have started using the software recently and lot of features are still untouched and unused. We will be exploring the complete functionalities and utilities in months to come and then will make final decision on overall performance. We started with AI at least 15 years ago - it was a much simpler and lower cost product. We package executables we design and generate into MSI packages and almost nothing else. Hence the product has evolved into a much more sophisticated and complex product that has gone way beyond our needs.

Once you have a working script, executing modest updates is simple and trivial. The ability to customise the installer application is a significant bonus. Finally, having the script text file to search and edit manually helps find deeply embedded naming and other errors.

It is too complex - we use about 20% of the product so I feel like we are paying too much for what we will never use. Yet we are constrained to purchasing Enterprise for one simple Enterprise option, otherwise Professional would suffice. We are probably under-utilising various aspects. We are now dabbling with the Visual Studio integration but are finding it difficult to make it work the way we want , especially mirroring full installs vs updates.

Advanced installer provides all the features that you need to build and maintain installer packages (MSIs). I especially appreciate all of its integrations with 3rd party tools, and its native support for Visual Basic.

I wanted an installer that was easy to install, use, and configure for a Windows service wrapper for a C# batch service executable (no console input) that accessed and/or modified multiple system resources such as SQL Server, Excel spreadsheets, and.TXT,.CSV files. Advanced Installer Pro solved the problem. It comes highly recommended.

Updates were my most sought-after feature. Advanced Installer provided in great detail on how to set-up and use this feature.

The technical support is Awesome! I've been using Advanced Installer since 2004 and they have Always provided 100% support. They've even helped me with some of my projects that I couldn't figure out. They have great tutorials on their site. They have very informative videos on YouTube as well. All around Advanced Installer is the BEST!.

Can't think of one thing that I dislike about Advanced Installer.

I'm sure I use this product in a simplistic manner i.e. I do not use many of the advanced features. It does what I need and does it well.

We live in an era where most software companies outsource their tech support. Agents with very little knowledge try to answer support questions from a script. Users switch to another product and company management never knows why. When I have a question about Advanced Installer, it gets answered quickly and completely by one of the developers (maybe one of the owners). You just can't find that kind of support anymore.

There is not anything I don't like about this product

Our company tried a competitor and our own custom installer before Advanced Installer. The most stable and cost-effective solution is Advanced Installer. Our workflow works great with it.Updates were my favorite feature. This feature was set up and used in detail by Advanced Installer.

I liked most about the cross platform versatility because as it allows for seamless deployment on various iperating systems like windows,linux,mac and I like the workflow efficiency of this software as it integrates with visual studio.

There are no specific cons but i dont like the cost as it demands more for some features.

For us, the overall goal of using Advanced Installer has been to automate our continuous integration and deployment workflow in order to avoid spending time on repetitive tasks, and in order to make it easy for us to quickly deploy software-updates to our customers. We achieved this goal in 2014 and have been using the product as happy customers ever since. The product has been fully capable of catering to our changing needs along the way - and when we have run into problems implementing the changes we needed, the support team (along with the forum) has been able to help us through, every time!

Most importantly, we have been able to create a software-installer for our product which initially makes it easy for our customers to install our product in their environment, and subsequently makes it easy for us to publish software-updates which our customers can apply by doing a simple "check for updates" for our product on the application-server/host-machine. The installation (and update) process involves setting up multiple websites in Internet Information Services (IIS), scheduled tasks, testing specified credentials for a specified SQL Server-instance, execution of script which creates/updates a database on the SQL Server-instance, modifying the Windows hosts-file etc. We have Advanced Installer built into our continuous integration (Jenkins CI) setup, so that code commits (pushed to GitHub) triggers new jobs, resulting in a new software-installer which is then used to deploy the updated code in our staging-environment. This way, we know that all of the files (and database) have been updated and we're able to detect any problems, before the same process (just for specific branch) is used to publish official releases to our customers. Our integration of Jenkins CI and Advanced Installer enables us to respond quickly to customer demands, and currently enables us to go from code-commit to published software-update in under 30 minutes.

It may be because we're not using it correctly, but we're doing some dynamic switching of content on some of the dialogs, i.e. hiding or displaying fields depending on selections at the beginning of the dialog, and this can get a bit messy when modifying the dialogs. But again, the end-result is what counts, and that absolutely works.

I mainly use the software to adapt existing software or to create MSI for my customers' own developments (usually for rollout within the company) It is easy to use and delivers good results quickly. Colleagues also get to grips with the application very quickly during training, even if they typically only use a fraction of the entire scope of the installation.

What annoys me the most about this software is that for creating MSTs files to customize manufacturer MSI, you are actually supposed to buy an Architect license. Most of my customers only use a fraction of the features of the Enterprise version, but creating an MST for manufacturer MSIs is the standard task here. However, if you have to use Microsoft Orca every time because the architect's version is too expensive for it, you'd better not buy the Advanced Installer completely. I know some customers who would buy a few enterprise licenses right away if this feature were already available in this license. Think about it dear folks at Advanced Installer.

Event though all my installations and applications are signed and licensed I still get the windows defender malware warring screen although Programs and Features recognizes the publisher and installs and uninstall the application as legitimate signed. I know you told me to buy an EV code. What I don't know and your customer support has never told me, is will getting an EV code illegitimate the windows defender smart screen for the third part web hosting. I'm assuming it would if I hosted myself. Not possible at this time. So I haven't invested in any EV codes. Don't want to be stuck with something that does not work. Question, how does Advanced Installer avoid the smart screen download error problem. how can I incorporate what you do in my AI MSI's. Your installations and your update installs are your own MSI's. Advanced Installer is a great tool for creating your installers, and overall it's been a very manageable process. AI takes what is a very, very complex matter and makes it simple - and you can't ask more than that!

Advanced Installer is a full-featured tool to build Windows Installer files from your project. I've only used it for my .NET projects, but it can work with many different types. I use the Professional version specifically so I can create .exe installers. I like how easy it is to customize my installs, from specifying the target folder to adding an icon for my installer, to much more complex things like registry edits/adds, build types, prerequisites, and many, many more features. I also like the Update feature, which makes it very easy to deploy updates to my existing customers.

Overall there are no big "gotchas", but it can be difficult to understand how the software works, especially if you're new to creating Windows Installers. AI does have a robust forum, and they're very responsive with help. I'm using the Professional version, and upgrading to Enterprise or Architect version, which includes quite a few more features (specifically the ability to edit dialogs) is VERY pricey.

The best thing about the Advanced Installer is their user-friendliness even someone who has less experience in installation can easily create an installation package with their easy-to-use drag-and-drop interface. Everything about Advanced Installer is good, only negative is we can only be able to use it on Windows if your are looking to use it on other OS like Linus and Mac there is no native support from Advanced Installer. And cost is also bit higher compare to other tools, but it really worth it.

The user interface customization of Advanced Installer is probably its weakest point. It does have some limited customization, but maintaining branding properly can be a challenge at first.

With advanced installer we can import our projects or create new project there as well. It also supports several integrations which we do not have to do bother about like Jenkins .It is easy to use and their support system works respond on time for any of our queries related to the platform. We needed to package multiple tools, made with different languages/platforms in the same installer. This makes for a complex installation requirement, but Advanced Installer was able to offer all that we required to do this successfully.

Advanced Installer offers a ton of options to customize the installation and to analyze its progress. Available default folders list is particularly rich and that helps us a lot. Furthermore, the ability to choose user/machine installation types is nice to have in an environment where not all users are admins of their machines.

What makes Advanced Installer great (the great deal of options) also makes it a bit hard (time-consuming) to learn for an effective usage. Maybe some guided steps / a simpler UI in some parts could help in speeding up the learning curve for the novice user.

I routinely create installers for several different PowerPoint add-ins, both off-the-shelf and custom-written ones. I need to provide installers that are easy to use for individual customers but that also meet the needs of enterprise IT departments that may be rolling my add-ins out to hundreds or thousands of their users. AI makes it possible to install these add-ins, along with supporting templates, help files and fonts with relative ease.

Documentation and user support are both excellent. AI is flexible and allows for one basic installer to install a variety of similar products or to quickly generate a new installer from a previously saved template.

It took a while to get the hang of using it, mostly, I think because I had grown accustomed to using a different product earlier. The two products used different approaches. AI's forums, help file and email support got me up to speed rather quickly, though.

Adding prerequisites and setting up file and folder structures are just a few of the common tasks that Advanced Installer can automatically detect and complete. You will spend less time and effort creating your installation packages as a result.

The aspect of Advanced Installer that I like least is its cost. The Professional edition, which most users will require, costs $399 a year at the beginning.

I have used from more than 2 years Advanced Installer and since then the packaging operation became a trivial task.
